Logitech Combo Touch Sand Smart Connector German Hardware/Electronic

I’ve been using slim high-end metal keyboards from a different company for my succession of iPads for years, but I got tired recently of the keys falling off and the company’s total lack of response.I just upgraded to an iPad Air 5 and shopped for a new keyboard. I tried one magic-style keyboard but returned it because of weirdly spaced keys. So after lots of research I bought this Logitech Combo and love it.The keyboard case is relatively light compared to other units. The keyboard doesn’t need to “wake up” because the connection is physical rather then wireless. The typing experience is really good - slightly sculpted keys with a nice solid feel with no key wobbling. The dimmable key backlighting is really nice.My only wishes:1) Have higher contrast between the key labels and the keys themselves. The labels are light gray on a darker gray background, so in any slightly dim light you need to turn on the backlight, thus draining the iPad battery a litte more quickly.2) Make it a hinged keyboard case instead of having a kickstand. I am able to use it on my lap, but it would be so much easier without the kickstand.3) Maybe use a less fabric-feeling case so it’s easier to clean off oil from fingers.

The case and keyboard are good. The keyboard typing quality is quite nice. On par with what you'd expect out of a Logitech keyboard of this size. They know how to do keyboards well! The trackpad is medium to large for a device in this class but doesn't compare to one on a good laptop. The trackpad is a bit mushy but has an excellent tracking feel. In no way is the mushiness a dealbreaker for me.Major frustration surrounds the slots in the case portion for the speaker grills. Within the first month of owning and using this, they started to warp, so they no longer snuggly fit the case. I love that Logitech's Folio has a case on the iPad, that can separate from the keyboard, plus a very effective kickstand to prop at any angle you desire. Apples option has a sligtly better keybaord and can still use another compatible case but that still an addition.I'm not convinced I'd buy this again unless Logitech corrected the wear issues mentioned. I do find that its a bit heavy and I certainly increase the wear dramatically by removing the iPad from the case completely quite often.

I believe this setup may be the best alternative to the more expensive Apple branded keyboard cases. However, it hasn’t held up nearly as long as I believe it should have. Within the first year of having it, I had to replace it via the Logitech support site. There were and are connectivity issues, even with the new replacement. As I type this review, the onscreen keyboard is still present, regardless of the many settings Logitech Support had me double-check over and over. Also, the ‘9’ and ‘Z’ keys have fallen off from light use. The case really feels more protective than Apple’s keyboard folio case. However, the case began to warp after about two months! It no longer fits flush against the edges of the iPad. I would choose the initial functionality of this keyboard folio case over any other case I researched and tried prior to purchasing. The overall functionality and lack of durability over even a short period of time already has me in the market to buy another less than a year and a half of owning it. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend purchasing it.
