Logitech G435 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Headset

So I've owned this headset for about 3 weeks now.I wanted Bluetooth so I could pair it with my phone for calls during the day, and rf so I could play games on my PC without Bluetooth degradation at night. Lightspeed connection is great, connects right away and has ultra low latency.The adjustment levels are fine, you can move the adjustments smoothly with no stops. Modern looking headset as well. There's only one LED that indicates charging and battery level. There's also a mute button to, well, mute the mic. There are buttons for volume controls and of course, the power button. There's no swivel, no other adjustments for the speakers. The band cover has no foam in it, just a piece of thin fabric and plastic. Ear cups are quite small, if you have bigger ears, you might want to find other headsets. GHub doesn't support the device so you won't know the exact battery level - only through LED indicators. Charging is pretty fast though. Almost 2 hours of charge from low to full will last you about a day. I charge mine just before I sleep. You can safely use the headset while charging - it has USB-C for charging. Fabric doesn't get as hot as I thought it'd be. Tried connecting it with bluetooth on my PC and it was shitty but, your experience may vary. Good headset overall. They cheaped-out on the less-needed features to achieve the price point. If you're someone that plays, works, casually listens to music sometimes and is looking for a kinda-budget headset from a big-named brand, and also in search for a modern-looking headset that fits your all-white peripherals - this is a great buy for you. They have other colorways, too.

Did Not Expect

Purchased a headset (not this one), a few months ago and battery only lasts for about an hour, full charge and lose cable when plugging in (not connected, connected) and when moving head. Tired of spending over $100 and they fail. Not able to refund or other. So I had to go out and purchase another. Doing research again, and found this one to be the choice. I am amazed, battery lasts for about a week full charge. connects wire less, easy (blue tooth). One failure, the product does not function in some software (music creations), "Disabled.......", One of my hobbies came to an end. Also, I purchased a G' headset, so it would function with Logitech's G' software (with Logitech's G mouse). It doesn't. So no, equalizer, sound features, software or anything. The included Lightspeed wireless dongle provides totally lag-free audio for PC while built-in Bluetooth capabilities allow it to serve double duty for phones, tablets, and gaming systems on the go. Once I got past the rather obtuse button combinations on the headset to enter BT pairing mode, the BT connection itself with my iPhone 12 was solid and stutter free to well past 20 feet or so. Better still, I did not notice any significant Bluetooth lag when watching movies or video streams. On my PC, Windows sound properties indicated bit-depth and sampling was fixed at 16-bit/48kHz, roughly DVD quality sound. The boomless microphone actually worked surprisingly well with only a hint of artificial or watery compression-like sound on voice capture; though it did tend to pick up just a bit more ambient noise than a directional boom mic, so I don't think these are necessarily well-suited to competitive gaming or really noisy environments where you still want your teammates to hear you clearly.The USB-C port on the left earcup is only for charging as these are wireless ONLY--you cannot use the headphones like an external soundcard with a constant/permanent connection to your PC, nor is there a 3.5mm jack to use the headset in passive mode. I ran the headphones at medium-ish volume on a Netflix auto-play queue for more than 10 hours and the LED status light still did not indicate less than a 30% charge; therefore, I would imagine the purported 18-hour runtime is reasonably accurate. The box also includes a USB-A to USB-C charging cable, though a small cloth pouch or drawstring bag would have been nice to keep the headphones even minimally protected when not in use.Despite a surprising number of features, controls are minimal and, therefore, are not exactly simple. A single LED serves multiple duties as status and mode indicators: green for power on AND power off (not red--weird) as well as medium to full battery levels; cyan for Lightspeed wireless mode, darker blue for Bluetooth mode, orange for setting maximum volume levels and sidetone function, and red for low and critical battery levels...all of varying duration of illumination or flash patterns, virtually guaranteeing that you need to have the manual handy to decipher anything going on beyond power on/off and volume adjustment. Similarly, activating those various functions and features is a relatively non-intuitive combination of single and dual-button presses and holds with only a series of tones, rather than spoken status and ready prompts, to serve as audio cues. Again, the quick-start guide is pretty much mandatory reading here--an extra "Mode" button might have done wonders for usability.Most of these functions are set-it-and-forget-it, however; so once you have your volume limits set, your headphones paired to all your source equipment, and your sidetone dialed in just right, you really only have to worry about power, volume, mic mute, and switching between wireless and BT modes, which are mercifully simple. Speaking of sidetone, I was not expecting to see accommodations for sidetone activation and volume level in a wireless headset that seemed this "basic" on the surface; so those of you who find team-speak unnatural without hearing your own voice, or maybe don't want to hear your own voice when you're on a phone call, have the option to adjust this feature as desired. Given that the headset is really better suited to younger players (more on that in a bit), having an option to set my kid's volume limit to 85dB or 100dB was actually appreciated.DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION:The headphones do not collapse, nor do the earcups fold flat for storage. Vertical adjustment is accomplished through an infinitely variable slider system that allows the earcups to glide up and down along plastic rails at each end of the headband; there is virtually no horizontal pivot to the earcups before the headband itself starts to twist. Resistance on the rails is not very high, however, so the earcups routinely shifted position just from putting them on or removing them. There is no click-lock system to retain sizing so you'll probably be readjusting the headset every time you handle them. The ear pads are covered with a breathable mesh which reduces heat build-up against the skin and around the ears. The interior of the earcups are angled--deeper at the back than the front to better match the anatomy of the ear. Basically, if your ears are small enough to fit fully inside the pads, your ear lobes get "tucked" into the rear of the earcups, and the drivers are angled more naturally towards your ear canals rather than sitting perpendicular to the openings. This would normally be fine, even comfortable, but the earcups themselves are actually quite small (again, Logitech seems to be aiming at younger players or those with smaller features) resulting in a relatively poor seal and even discomfort around the bottom of my earlobes which were spilling out below the bottom of the pads.The headband is covered with a jersey-like cloth wrap; this helps keep the weight down (and the cost, I would imagine), but offers no padding whatsoever on the underside of the headband. At least on my head, I could feel straight through the cloth to the plastic rails of the headband frame and the slats running between them--it was not good. Also, the cloth covering is not very durable--I can easily see it snagging on some pens, keys, cable ends, or errant Velcro fasteners lying around on a desk or tabletop--mine actually came fresh out of the box with a pinhole in the material that was already starting to widen after only a few days. If you treat your gear pretty roughly, or are nonchalant about throwing them around after you're done using them, I suspect the cloth headband cover may start showing rips and snags pretty quickly. But such concessions in construction and materials are also what account for the G435's absurdly light weight, so you need to take those compromises into account as you decide what you value and want out of your headphones.FITMENT AND COMFORT:Logitech's marketing literature indicates that the G435 headset "fits a wide range of players but is optimized for the comfort of younger players and those with smaller heads." I disagree; it would probably be less disingenuous (at least based on my experience) to say the G435 isn't really designed for anyone OTHER than younger players or those with smaller heads. As an adult male with a "regular-sized" noggin, the best term I can find to describe these is "cramped." More to the point, I found these headphones supremely uncomfortable with clamping pressure surprisingly high given how light they are--not to mention the fatigue and discomfort I experienced from the smallish earcups and minimally padded headband.Now, I wanted to be fair as I generally quite like Logitech's gear, and I am still immensely satisfied with my Logitech G Pro wired headset, so I passed these to my wife and daughter, both of whom are quite smaller than me--and both of whom thought the headphones were actually very comfortable. In that sense, Logitech has probably served its niche market well; they have produced a lightweight headset for younger players who probably care more about wireless convenience than they do about sound quality (or maybe who wouldn't necessarily notice any sacrifices in sound quality they made over more capable headphones). But for a more "average-sized" adult gamer, or at least one with an even mildly discerning ear, I would have a VERY hard time recommending this headset.

I've been more than happy with the headset so far, especially for the price. The sound quality is very good and they fit comfortably over my ears without discomfort even after hours of use. They are very lightweight, further reducing fatigue, but they do not feel like they are poorly made or that they are on the verge of breaking. The headband is surprisingly comfortable as well for not really having any padding on it. Battery life has been impressive as well, and I can use it for days on end without having to charge it. Initially on setup I had issues pairing the headset to the USB receiver on my Windows PC. It just kept flashing teal as if it was trying to pair, but it would never find the receiver. After restarting my computer, it worked fine. I also had it happen again a few days later, but I found if I just unplugged the receiver and plug it back in, it worked fine again. Not a huge deal for me as it doesn't happen in use, only when I first plug it in on both occasions. Also, the microphone isn't the best. I wish it had an actual extendable microphone arm that I could have in front of my mouth rather than just being built into the earcup. It's not bad, but it doesn't sound the best and the volume of it is a little low. Overall, I still highly recommend this headset if you can find it on sale. I'll update this review if I ever have any major problems with it.

Highly recommended for the price. I was looking for a budget friendly option to use around the house without breaking the bank. Wanted something that I didn't have to worry about miss handling or putting it in a protective case in the event I want to take it with me for gaming on the go. Materials are definitely not premium but thats also the point, it serves it's utility and it is comfortable (to an extent). However, if you move your head quick enough it will fall off, and my head is kind of big. Excellent for all around quality sound for music, videos, gaming, and media consumption. On my main Gaming PC I use Steelseries Arctis 7s, and on my Editing rig I run Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless with Brainwavz memory foam earpads. Microphone: Honestly, considering that I'm used to higher end audio - I run a HyperX Quadcast S as my main "gaming mic" - It's a LOT better than I thought it would be. The compression isn't terrible even on my deep voice and the noise cancellation profile isn't so aggressive that it thinks my grumbly voice is just background noise from a T.V. It isn't the greatest, and you'll definitely have some "distance" from the mic to listeners so it's not "stream quality worthy" but for the average gamer chilling on discord with his/her/their buddies this is more than adequate due to their compression anyway. Adjustment: Probably the HIGHLIGHT of this headset. The way it adapts to your head is almost alien in nature. The cups act as a "pull force" for the headset to fit your ears, but once it's adjusted they don't do any work. They just sort of "stay in place" and it's ODD how it functions because it doesn't feel like it's being "forced into place" even though it is. Cons: Dongles...Dongles EVERYWHERE Due to the design of the "lightspeed" device communication platform EVERY. SINGLE. DEVICE. needs it's own dongle, which is - for lack of a better word - Dumb. There are plenty of communication protocols developed by other companies (and even Logitech Themselves with their unifying adapter) that don't need this. I presume they try to pass it off as "necessary" due to polling rates (how fast a device communicates with your PC/Console per second) when the reality is that it's just lazy coding because all of these devices combined (mouse, headset, and keyboard) wouldn't fully saturate a USB3 connection even if their polling rate was 1000hz. They could have done better on this regard. Headband: There's "padding" in the form of INSANELY thin foam underneath the mesh that wraps the headband, and by insanely, I mean MAYBE 1mm thick. That's it. You can feel the split in the headband through it, and me being a balf guy with a deformed head I feel it. luckily it's not painful, but for some larger headed people this could end up deforming your head over time, so give that some consideration. The skull is a lot softer than you think. Would I buy it again? Yeah, probably. For the cost it's a viable option. There may be others out there in this price range that are better, honestly, I'm not sure, I normally don't "cheap out" on audio equipment, but given this was for a setup that I'm likely to use once a week I figured "why spend more than I have to on accessories."

I also don't recommend wearing your hood while having these on unless you aren't listening to loud music- some types of fabrics in hoodies make the sound muffled, making you want to turn it up, which ultimately almost blew the speakers for me.- One issue I've had is that I have no idea how to use the lossless adapter that I have for the headphones. There is a manual, but it is very minimal and does not go over how to use the lossless adapter. I tried just plugging it in and turning on the headphones but they always use Bluetooth for some reason. I'd make sure you know how to use lossless adapters before buying this headset, because I still am not sure of how to get it to work.- My final issue with the Logitech G435 is that about every 60 to 120 minutes, the headphones will just turn off, even if I am using them. Due to this, I have to basically kill myself in Dead by Daylight to get them back on, and I have to leave and rejoin my discord call as well as restart any music platform I am using. Not only does this cause me to go completely without sound for about 3-5 minutes in a sweaty DBD, Apex, or Minecraft Bedwars game, but it also is just really annoying. It will happen whenever and there isn't a way to fix the issue that I know of. I've tried looking online and no one else seems to be having this issue.Other than these somewhat minor issues and complaints, I am in love with these headphones. The bass is literally incredible for a basshead like me, and they have a very sleek design. I got these headphones and a week after trying them, they marked all the boxes that I had: wireless (Bluetooth), no mic arm (but still has a mic), great sound quality, comfortable fit. The Logitech G435 is an outstanding product that checked all of my boxes for just $90. Surprisingly great sound for a smaller headset

I was surprised with just how light the headset felt as I held it and was even more surprised with how comfortable it was during use. It’s designed a bit smaller than other headsets in the same price range, while offering similar audio performance. The lightweight allowed for longer gaming sessions and required almost no charging for almost 17 hours during my initial use. Using the USB C cable to charge the device took approx. 2 hours to reach full.Pairing the headset with Bluetooth or Lightspeed on a PC running Windows 10 (at least in my case), and you have the option to use this with Dolby Atmos for Headphones. There was a couple of random instances when turning on the headset, where my PC was outputting simple mono audio, as if it were a phone call. This was immediately fixed by simply toggling the headset on and off. I’m not entirely sure why Windows would set it up this way, as there was no setting I could toggle to change the audio output, and it only happened a couple of times during the first day of use. If you’re using other Logitech accessories and have the Logitech G Hub app, you won’t see this show up on the main dashboard or in the “gear” section of the app (at least at the time of this review).Seeing as this headset is smaller, I fully expected the audio to feel less satisfying, but was pleasantly surprised with the overall quality being output from the 40mm drivers. The headset sounded best with Dolby Atmos enabled on my PC, with fuller sound, deeper Bass response, and a surround sound effect that provides a crisp sound to anything you’re listening to. Music sessions during work hours were pleasant, and the long battery life meant I could easily turn off my PC and jump right into gaming. The headset paired quickly using the dongle, which is required for use on the console, once you hold the mute button to toggle over. I should note, this doesn’t allow for multiple Bluetooth connections, so if you’re needing to swap to another device, you’ll need to initiate pairing with the power/mute button until you’re connected.The microphone implementation on the headset doesn’t require a connected boom mic arm, as it’s built directly into the earphone. I never once had anyone complain about my voice capture in gaming chats, or while using this with video calls. I was also surprised at how well it ignored background noise, as it didn’t constantly toggle voice output as my dogs were playing in the background. Not entirely sure if the software of the video calls or if the PS5 was helping but was happy to know it wasn’t an issue. I should note that sound will bleed out of the headset. So, I’d be mindful if you’re working or playing alongside someone, as they’ll be able to make out most any sound coming from the headset if volume is up enough.Overall, I’d recommend this to any PS5 player looking for a comfortable headset for longer sessions without all the stress of a cord, a mic to move out of the way, and easy to find buttons. It’s lightweight without feeling cheap, has a long battery life, paired extremely well with Bluetooth 5 devices (with a longer range), and Dolby Atmos spatial audio really makes it stand out. The price seems to be in the sweet spot, and easily bests other headsets in the same price range.
