I like the feel of this keyboard, the buttons are comfortable and sized perfectly. When it works, it's my favorite keyboard I've ever used. However, the connectivity isn't always 100%. There will be times I use a keyboard command (Ctrl+C for example) and one of the keys will latch, resulting in cccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc. This happens about 20% of the time. Also, the mouse that's included with this keyboard lags from time to time, even after putting in a fresh battery. Both the keyboard and mouse share the same USB hub, which I believe could be causing a bottleneck with the inputs it's receiving. Any assistance on these issues would be appreciated, and I'll adjust my review score.

This is a nice combo and I bought it for the new computer because we have had a MK520, which has worked flawlessly for years. The new MK540, when installed, had a mouse which constantly froze and was erratic. The keyboard, however, had no problems. I uninstalled, reinstalled, changed batteries, changed usb connector from back to front, even though the tower sits on the floor one foot from the desk (description says works up to 33' away). Ran a check which said Logitech up to date and working properly. Connected the old MK520 to the new computer, and had no problem, so I assumed I had a faulty mouse and exchanged the MK540. New Mk540 keyboard worked fine and within 15 minutes new mouse started acting up. What tha ...? Researched the comments in this section and found ... Researched the comments in this section and found someone else had similar problems and added a usb extender which solved their erratic mouse. Guess what? So off to buy another extender since Logitech didn't furnish one with the MK540. Only three Stars Because: No furnished Logitech instructions or trouble shooting Doesn't function properly without an extender to place usb at desk height and had to buy one, whereas the old MK520 came with one. Three trips to Best Buy to get a workable keyboard combo. Frustration to get mouse to work without freezing. Keyboard had no problems.

I use this at my office in a warehouse. For a lower-priced full-size RF keyboard/mouse combo, this product exceeded expectations. Key travel is medium and touch firm. Initially I thought a little too firm, but I'm happy with it for email and interacting with my warehouse's inventory application. In the past, both of which require only light to moderate typing, The full-size mouse is comfortable (I've always purchased laptop-size mice in the past). Best is because it's a combo remote keyboard/mouse, the Logitech RF transceiver requires only one regular USB slot on my laptop. Only wish my employer didn't lock down installation of outside apps because the free downloadable Logitech keyboard/mouse software is excellent at configuring all aspects of the devices.

The keyboard is a good size with a decent layout and quite a positive keyswitch action. So far I haven't noticed any missed or dropped letters when typing (unlike some other wireless keyboards) and the power switch being on the top row is also a nice touch. With the feet extended it sits at a good typing angle as well. Overall, a good keyboard. As for the mouse... Well it works fine and is very responsive, but is much smaller than I expected. It's also not 'handed' so you can use with left or right hands, but this also makes it less comfortable than, say, a Logitech M330 wireless mouse. That's not to say it's a bad mouse, but I'm not sure I could use it all day, every day for work. Overall, though, this is a good, solid wireless keyboard and mouse set.
The keyboard has decent feel and I have found no real issues. It is used mostly for school, basic programming, and personal use. It doesn't get a ton of heavy use at this point. So far, the battery life has been good, and I really like that it has a power switch. The USB connector is auto connection. The mouse hasn't been good, but it is functional for my use. The finish on the exterior is not good. There are a few rough spots, or spots where the plastic hasn't fit together well. The scroll wheel is pretty loud and has a catch that makes it roll unevenly. The mouse also doesn't travel well on hard surfaces if you don't have a pad for it. The positives are battery life, having a power switch, and nice storage area for the USB receiver. The price point still makes it a good buy.
This keyboard/mouse combo was really awesome. I took the time to go into Best Buy and try out everything on display until I found exactly what I was looking for, and landed on this combo. Unfortunately I didn't buy the Geek Squad protection, and after 14 months, the mouse quit working correctly. As has happened to many others in reviews here, the mouse started recognizing single clicks as double clicks. It also wouldn't hold click-and-drags long enough, i.e. for highlighting lines of text, etc., and it became completely useless because I was making a ton of mistakes. This was my daily use device for business, and I ended up having to purchase a new keyboard and mouse (another Logi, but a cheaper version in case the same thing happens - admittedly, I don't like the ... So, do I recommend it? Sure, while it lasts. But would I recommend spending the money on it? Absolutely not, because it's not going to last.
This item replaced a Microsoft 5000 product that was only 3 months old that we could not get warranty to cover due to seller being Amazon. Also it had replaced another one less than 1 year old that they would not warranty as well. We had used their products for 25 years and there had been no problem with service when necessary. We have 4 computers. We chose the MK540 and could not be happier. Obviously we don't know about longevity but we are happy with the change. The mouse is a lot more comfortable and the functions are more stable and responsive. The response or processing in the computer is more positive and faster. Setup of plug in and play could not be easier. The cap lock indicator on the key is a plus and the scroll on the mouse is clearly transmitted to the ... While the hand rest of the keyboard is slightly smaller it is quite adequate and comfortable. Wished we had researched and made the change sooner.
I have always had Logitech keyboards for my computer work. I purchased this one approximately 3 weeks ago. From a size perspective it is a perfect fit to keep my hands comfortable. The spread of the keys is good and it has all the functions that I need for my work. What I have noticed over my last couple of keyboards is the play of the keys as they are depressed. On the older models the keys depressed smoothly and quietly. What I have noticed about this keyboard is that the keys feel hollow, they are a bit more difficult to depress, and they are noisier. I did try several other models of Logitech keyboards while in the store and this seems to be a design change across all models. I had to type this review out with my laptop keyboard because several keys are not functional with the K540 that came in this MK540 combo. I don't understand how a keyboard can ship with 4 keys inoperable (in this case, LShift, RShift, Del and Numpad 9). In addition, as mentioned in other reviews, the wireless range is very short and requires an extension in order for the mouse to have a proper signal without skipping or lagging. This is a problem for me where I keep a USB hub for my laptop hidden and out of sight and I need my other USB to be free for my wired work headset. Finally, what's the point of pairing a quiet keyboard with a loud mouse? I do like the quiet touch the keyboard gives, and typing seems to be pretty smooth, but it's so jarring when I then have ... I do like the quiet touch the keyboard gives, and typing seems to be pretty smooth, but it's so jarring when I then have to clack around with the mouse buttons. I can foresee annotating meetings off-mute difficult if I have to constantly mute and un-mute myself just because I need to use the mouse. Needless to say, this is going back to Best Buy. I've also been on hold for over 30m after going through with Logitech's chatbot and troubleshooting steps. I've had some really good products from Logitech and I have them for everything on my desktop.
If I could give this keyboard 10 stars, it still wouldn't be enough to show my satisfaction. As we all know, our daily work lives can be stressful - some days more than others. Unfortunately, our frustration can manifest itself with an outburst - sometimes profanity works; other times... it can get a little messy. My precious MK540 just took a short (yet violent) flight across the room (after a absorbing pretty solid punch). Mutiple keys popped out; batteries had to be retrieved from either side of my office; and I'm sure my dogs are hiding under the bed. After locating all the pieces and some minor re-assembly... ALL IS PERFECT!!!!! I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER KEYBOARD OTHER THAN LOGITECH AGAIN... until I retire and can relax.
