I've been using Logitech's k750 solar keyboard for almost a decade, but the battery was starting to no longer hold a charge and there wasn't a way to replace it, so I'd decided to get a new one and wanted to upgrade to mechanical. I upgraded my mouse to the MX3 a few years ago, and wanted to get the keyboard equivalent so they would match and could run off the same dongle... only it wasn't after I had ordered and received the MX Mechanical and was in the process of getting it set up that I discovered that the MX mouse runs on the universal dongle while the MX mechanical runs on the logi bolt, and neither will accept the other. This really needs to be explained on the product page because it seems a lot of other people have discovered the same issue after the fact. ... Almost like the switches underneath start softening up making it a bit hard at times to understand if a key has indeed been pressed properly or not.The positives are that it does indeed use mechanical switches underneath the keys (rather than a membrane system), and it does have a sizeable battery which can accomodate extensive use before charging.However, for the price (CHF 162 when I bought it) I would have expected more features. You can get much better mechanical keyboard from other brands for half the price. I'm not quite sure why Logitech didn't simply build a regular mechanical keyboard that adheres to their well respected build quality.If you're a fan of Logitech and aren't a hater of membrane keyboards, then I would recommend getting the regular MX Keys instead.

The keys have great feedback and travel distance is just right. One feature I love the most is being able to have different profiles for different devices connected via bluetooth. From what I have seen you do not have to use the included dongle and can connect to the device directly. I have a windows device and a Mac that I have to switch between during the course of the day and the seamless transition from one device to another has been amazing. The battery life is amazing. From what I have seen you do not have to use the included dongle and can connect to the device directly. I've had the keyboard for about 2 weeks now and the battery level is still showing 100% after fulling charging on the first day.The only downside I have found with the keyboard so far is that I have not found a key that maps to the option key on Mac. I love mechanical keyboards, but sometimes I dont want to sound like I'm tap dancing on plywood in an empty room. This keyboard has a good balance with the haptic and audible feedback it gives. It is just enough to give you that satisfying mechanical feel, but not audibly explosive like most mechanical keyboards are. It is also decent for general gaming. I use it for work and gaming, and I have no issue with either. The multiple bluetooth connectivity is also a big plus, which can also be used for your phone which I use more than I thought i would. The only negative I have is the rubber on the bottom of the collapsible legs. They are attached with an adhesive tape instead of an integrated retention. This keyboard is a good solid build, surprisingly heavy when I picked it up. The keys have a great tactile feel. Many other keyboards, even the mechanical, have a mushy feel for me. I am a fan of the Unicomp buckling spring keyboards, which I still use. The MX Mechanical makes a great companion keyboard for travel. I especially like the easy setup with the online Web Connect; I never liked installing software just to link the receiver to a different device.
