Bought this for my Bayliner VR6 to be matched up with a Simrad G05 XSE MFD. So far so good... had a professional install, so can't comment there... REALLY like the fact that I don't have to have a hull mount transducer that requires screw and wire holes as well as causing a rooster tail behind the boat at speed... Clean install without risk of displacing the transducer..

I have two MFDs - a Simrad GO9 XSE with a total scan transom-mount transducer, and a GO7 XSE, which I use for monitoring the engine data and to have a second chartplotter. I had trouble with the units not sharing the totalscan transducer on the NEMA2000 network and losing depth. So I put one of these in the bilge and connected it to the GO7 XSE. I wanted it for a reliable depth gauge -- I boat in the Chesapeake Bay, and it gets shallow quick. It works like a charm -- I can get depth reading at any speed. It never loses the bottom. I've only had the boat in water up to about 160 feet deep, so I don't know how it would work in really deep water, but I could not be happier with it.

It works
I didn't use this product as I discovered that mine was OK. Its just needed some castor oil in the base. I am writing the review because I returned the item to Force Four and they immediately accepted the return and also returned my payment. This was done very promptly so full marks to Force Four. I have an account with Force Four and all my dealings with them have been excellent. A super reliable company.
This depth transducer picks up depth quickly. Do not have the power on while connecting, I fried one of these. Works well and you dont have to take the boat out of the water and cut a hole in bottom.
This did not come with a plug that fit 'my' Simrad, but I had a "blue" plug required for my Simrad. I cut off the plug that came with it and rewired it to the blue plug. The transducer works amazingly well. We have deep water here. I have tested it to 1000 ft and it was still working perfectly. It also picks up fish very well.
This is a good quality transducer that performs well in most cases. It is a shoot-through in hull transducer so you avoid some major headaches drilling holes in your boat...not to mention the ability to install it quickly, even with the boat in the water!!! The trade off is a bit of sensitivity loss, and it is not suitable for all boats so you need to make sure you have solid fiberglass in your intended location. Vessels with cored bottoms, and vessels made of any other material such as aluminum or wood will not work with this transducer.
