This is, in my opinion, the best and tastiest spreadable in the lighter category. Sadly the price in Asda goes up and down like a yoyo. 3.25 each then 2 for 5. Now its 3.75 and 2 for 6, all in the space of weeks. Sadly I get the feeling that there is an element of price management on this product. Watch for the offers and Anchor Lighter spreadable is a good alternative when it is on offer.

In recent years it has been annoying that spreadable butter often consists of only maybe half butter, with all sorts of other often illdefined things added. I used to search for the ones that were only butter, having to always check ingredients small print. Then I saw this butter blended with rapeseed oil, and I am OK with rapeseed oil, so I have been using it. Flavour is quite pleasant, if a bit bland, but it tends to go runny on toast, I studied the ingredients info on the pack. The various percentage figures are confusing, but it looks like it includes 20 to 25 water Seems high for product that is not cheap

I am reviewing this product because I was sent a free sample by Ocado. I usually buy Lurpak and was really pleased to see this version of their butter with lower fat content. As a Lurpak regular buyer I am familiar with the taste of the full fat variety and can report that the lighter version is no different in creaminess or consistency. I honestly wouldnt know the difference, although hopefully my arteries will! Great taste, highly recommend it.

I always buy Lurpak, because for me, nothing tastes or works better than Lurpak. I usually buy the standard, slightly salted version, but was offered this as a freebie. I wasn't sure it would still be as good, but I was not disappointed at all. At 554 calories instead of 739 per 100g, and 61g of fat, instead of 82, this really can make a big difference when watching those details. Did it still taste as good? Absolutely! Top marks from me, Lurpak!!
As a devoté of ordinart lurpack butter with or without salt I tried this. I'm not a great fan of 'Lighter" products but this was a surprise basket addition. Anthow not expecting anything special I approached this hard feeling bloc butter carefully and upon folding back the foil noticed it was lighter to look at.I read the ingredients and saw that it has more water content Hmm I telephoned ARLA's customer services to enquire about it's efficacy and was reassured over and over again that it is not hydrogenated and it was all natural (I stiil have my doubts).I hope it is not hydrogenated and I will ask them again. The lighter lurpak butter is firm unlike spreads and spreadables. It cuts into cubes and spreads when taken from the fridge which is a good point. It ... I found this great with jam added on top (Devonshire) especially as a quick treat layered as if it was the top thicker layer of clotted cream. It's good as a stand in.I also find it good for toast but I add butter to toast when the toast is a bit cooler so I dind it stays plumply on top of tge toast; and I actually use less; it appears more opaque not glossy like proper butter, it's a lighter version contains more water and will make toast a little wetter if spread immediately onto hotter toast.Overall I like it a lot it tastes better than butter and not nasty like margarine which can be clawy, no this product so long as it is truly not hydrogenated is a pleasant and versitile alternative block butter. I would highly recommend it so long as ARLA's reassurances are true then 10/10 for a versatile product which is not nearly as oily as circa 70% average butter and is not for people who prefer simple Lurpak full fat. This is a new concept that tastes terrific and ticks a lot of boxes. T'aint proper butter 'tis lighter and therfore deliciously different. I prefer it to full fat as I use less it seem to spead further.
This butter has shrunk to 200g. The so-called reduced price shown in red is actually exactly the same per gram as it was before. Disappointed that Waitrose would mislead customers in this way. Honesty required here. Also I prefer 250g for measuring when baking. The above goes for Lurpak Spreadable which will now be off my shopping list.
Lurpak have always done good butter and this lighter variety falls in the same category. The texture of the butter is slightly crumbly and not as smooth as the normal variety but its not so different as to put me off and the trade off for a lighter butter is worth it. This⁸ item was bought as part of a promotion.
I noticed when I replaced my last pack of Lurpak butter that the block felt a lot smaller! Luckily I still had the last wrapper and the size of the pack has decreased from 259g to 200g yet the price has gone up! This is not acceptable and is a practise to con shoppers thinking they are still getting the same pack size for the price. I don't know if Lurpak will ever read this but if they do you have just lost a customer if other makes still sell the same size pack
Just purchased this for the first time and have found it to be really tasty and easier to use than the regular block. The ingredients list is good too with no unecessary extras. I actually found this far better all round than the regular version but I do appreciate that taste is a personal and individual thing. For me, the combination of taste, ease of use, uncomplicated ingredients and a lighter version means I can enjoy some butter with less guilt. I'm staying with this version so long as ingredients don't change.
I hoped this was the same as/similar to the Lurpak Lighter Spreadable that only comes in a plastic box. The taste is somewhat similar but the texture is absolutely bizarre- more like cold butter icing than butter. Even at room temperature it crumbled rather than spread on cold bread. On hot toast it was possible to spread it, but it was greasy and really unappetising. I'll be sticking with my usual combo of real butter and the regrettably-plastic-packaged Spreadable Lurpak.
