This is, in my opinion, the best and tastiest spreadable in the lighter category. Sadly the price in Asda goes up and down like a yoyo. 3.25 each then 2 for 5. Now its 3.75 and 2 for 6, all in the space of weeks. Sadly I get the feeling that there is an element of price management on this product. Watch for the offers and Anchor Lighter spreadable is a good alternative when it is on offer.

I love butter, always have, always will. Pure butter just doesnt spread properly from the fridge and damages your bread. Lurpak is the best butter by far, and they make the best spreadable because it has the highest proportion of butter to vegetable oil to make it spreadable. Also no palm oil, just canola. As for the price you get what you pay for, and Im quite happy to pay this price.

I always buy Lurpak, because for me, nothing tastes or works better than Lurpak. I usually buy the standard, slightly salted version, but was offered this as a freebie. I wasnt sure it would still be as good, but I was not disappointed at all. At 554 calories instead of 739 per 100g, and 61g of fat, instead of 82, this really can make a big difference when watching those details. Did it still taste as good Absolutely Top marks from me, Lurpak

In recent years it has been annoying that spreadable butter often consists of only maybe half butter, with all sorts of other often illdefined things added. I used to search for the ones that were only butter, having to always check ingredients small print. Then I saw this butter blended with rapeseed oil, and I am OK with rapeseed oil, so I have been using it. Flavour is quite pleasant, if a bit bland, but it tends to go runny on toast, I studied the ingredients info on the pack. The various percentage figures are confusing, but it looks like it includes 20 to 25 water Seems high for product that is not cheap

Best butter
12 May 2022

Have been using this for years and occasionally tried other brands if it was out of stock but always came back to this. Consistently good, it is creamy and with a wonderful delicate flavour and texture. Perfect for cooking or baking anything, and delicious as it is on bread, ravioli or to make sweet toppings. An occasional indulgent treat for us so it needs to be perfect and it is.

Great taste!
23 October 2021

I am reviewing this product because I was sent a free sample by Ocado. I usually buy Lurpak and was really pleased to see this version of their butter with lower fat content. As a Lurpak regular buyer I am familiar with the taste of the full fat variety and can report that the lighter version is no different in creaminess or consistency. I honestly wouldnt know the difference, although hopefully my arteries will! Great taste, highly recommend it.

Delighted that you are stocking our favourite butter again! Why did you stop? For months we have had to make special journeys to other supermarkets just for classic Lurpak butter. Have 5 packs in the fridge so can't take advantage of the special offer right now.

Misleading presentation

Quite naughty really that the regular price is presented as what we would have normally paid for a 250g block, so that the 'offer' price seems a great deal - until you find out the block size has been reduced to 200g at the same time, so the offer is no big deal after all. Tut-tut Asda! Still great butter having said that.

Weird texture, little taste
8 February 2022

I hoped this was the same as/similar to the Lurpak Lighter Spreadable that only comes in a plastic box. The taste is somewhat similar but the texture is absolutely bizarre- more like cold butter icing than butter. Even at room temperature it crumbled rather than spread on cold bread. On hot toast it was possible to spread it, but it was greasy and really unappetising. I'll be sticking with my usual combo of real butter and the regrettably-plastic-packaged Spreadable Lurpak.

butter with water added
14 October 2021

sent free to review. I really don't see the point of this. it's watered down butter, so you're paying more for less butter, and will probably end up using a greater amount than of pure butter to get the same taste. it spreads weirdly due to the added water. would not recommend. just use less pure butter if that's the concern!
