This is a holy grail for me. I have been using this for years when I want to wear makeup. I use this with a kabuki brush and I’m quickly done applying my makeup base. Takes less than five minutes. All I do is apply a light weight moisturizer and this. I really love MAC products, they are always reliable in my opinion. This also lasts a long time and is reasonably priced for the value. The coverage is whatever you want it to be, it’s so versatile. I apply a light layer and it looks very natural and matte. Eventually it turns into a satin matte finish, it’s a powder foundation so it takes the form of your moisturizer underneath, that’s the beauty of this. It’s like a customizable foundation. I love powder foundation for that reason. So if you wear a heavy moisturizer, this foundation will eventually be shiny. If you use a matte cream/oil-free and just a little, this works like a charm. You can choose how you want it to look. At the end of the day, you may have some shine but that comes with your skin type and environmental factors. Just get a white or translucent blurring powder to touch up. I sometimes do this at the end of the day so I don’t have to apply more makeup. This also doesn’t break me out because it’s light weight and not caky. The color selection is awesome too, there are so many options to pick from. This is a favorite of many people for a reason..it’s been around for so long because it truly works. What else? It also blurs the skin and looks clean. Skin looks smoother and refined. It lasts all day for me, and does not transfer. If you need high coverage, you may not love this only because if you use a lot it could look caky, but for those who need light to medium coverage it works amazingly well. One of these days I will try a new powder foundation but I keep going back to this because it just works! I also love the packaging. It’s mess-free and travel friendly.... Show more

I have heard this foundation regaled as makeup lovers and artists favorite so many times. I was in Florida and came across an Ulta that sold it so I was compelled to try it. I am just so deeply underwhelmed by this foundation. I am a foundation snob but this is supposed to be a foundation snob’s foundation. In the last year I encountered the Hourglass Soft Glow foundation, which is gorgeous and, even more amazing, the NARS Light Reflecting foundation. The bar has been set high but not out of reach entirely! This is just a very run of the mill formula. Low medium coverage. Soft matte. Can definitely get cakey fast if you apply too much. Powders are kind of finicky on top of it and the lasting power is average. Workday but not a true all day and night situation. It’s ... I don’t see myself grabbing for this one so much. I do, however, have a pretty good match in NC13. Side note: MAC employee at Mayfair Mall in Milwaukee was atrocious. Worst customer service you could ever encounter. MAC isn’t getting any favors from that lady. Smh.... Show more

No joke my favorite powder foundation I have ever used and has been for what is now going on about 23-25 years!! Wow that’s crazy to say when I think about it lol. But it’s true! I have been using it faithfully since I was 13 and in 8th grade. I am now almost 34 years old and it’s still just as great as the first time I used it! It goes on so flawlessly and works so nicely with other products. The formula blends great with other products and primers and foundations as well as highlighters and blushes. Weather it’s MAC brand or other it works well with all! I highly highly recommend anyone in the market looking for an amazing powder foundation to definitely grab this amazing little number up. It is worth every single penny I promise you won’t regret it!!!!... Show more

A shame that it oxidises
This foundation has been my go-to for so long that I would never have believed I could ever give it a 3 star rating. It is a holy grail for so many women, so how could that be possible? Studio Fix has such a great formula and an even, medium coverage. It applies very easily with a brush, sponge or fingers and gives a matte, but not too matte, finish, covering imperfections without looking cakey. I have never found it patchy or liable to stick to dry areas or in fine lines as other matte foundations have done. It even provides a certain amount of skin care with an SPF 15 - nice to have this additional level of protection before we head out in the sun. And in terms of shade range MAC foundations, especially this one, have always knocked it out of the park with ... I have never found it patchy or liable to stick to dry areas or in fine lines as other matte foundations have done. It even provides a certain amount of skin care with an SPF 15 - nice to have this additional level of protection before we head out in the sun. And in terms of shade range MAC foundations, especially this one, have always knocked it out of the park with literally dozens of shades compared to other brands. With all this going for it what could be wrong? Unfortunately with my last few purchases Studio Fix has more recently started to oxidize in the bottle even when it is well in date. It comes out several shades darker with an orange tinge, even though I am using my usual shade (NW20) and my skin colour has not changed. I have no idea why this has happened and assume they must have slightly changed the formula. Which leads to the second problem - the formula does have a strong chemical smell, almost like strong coffee. As this has been my favourite I have persevered and tried everything to make it work and look lighter - blending it out thoroughly, using a setting powder, even mixing it with moisturiser. These things have made it more wearable but in the end it has just become too much hard work for such a basic make-up step - so sadly I have said goodbye to my former foundation and moved on.... Awesome, lightweight foundation that highlight fine lines
I've always used drugstore brand powders as I have always had a fairly even complexion and despised how cakes and gross liquid foundation is. But now at 36 I'm noticing powders tend to settle more into fine lines and make my face look drier than it needs to. This foundation leaves my face feeling so light, but moisturized and really helps to minimize the smaller stuff that was aging me with the powders I was using.I picked color N40 and it blends perfectly with my skin tone. I tried it on when I got out to the car and my husband was like "Wow! It looks just like your skin, but I don't like that it covers up all of your little freckles." LoL. The coverage is definitely buildable. It doesn't take much if you just want a light coat and a very natural look, so the ... Best of all time
I've probably tried every foundation Sephora and Mac has to offer and this is the one I always come back to. I really don't understand the other low ratings...1. This foundation is the only one I'd use without a primer or setting powder. It doesn't need it, and I like that it's optional. I feel like other brands rely so heavily on setting foundations with other products to get you to buy more stuff. This (and Mac pro longwear concealer) is like professional-grade makeup. Tried and true.2. On my wedding day, my MUA and I planned to use either EL double wear or too faced born this way, depending on how my skin was feeling. The day came and both products were emphasizing all my texture and/or sliding off my face. I literally ran to my room and found my old bottle ... Did not budge and lasted all day. Full coverage yet natural.3. This covers scars. I can spot conceal with this foundation and it blends into my skin so well. I also buy a lighter shade as concealer in the summer.4. It's not finicky. Again, you don't need to (but can) use primers and setting powders. It works with most other products (except for silicone-based primers which makes it dry out and oxidize and can separate).I don't know why I ever stop using it but i always have a bottle. I guess when you find the perfect formula, you get bored and try what's trending.Love it.... Show more

Checks all the boxes
I wanted something with a little more coverage and staying power for winter, although I love the water weight foundation in summer. This was a great compromise. I wanted natural coverage with SPF. Wish it was a little higher SPF, because I don't like heavy moisturizers and I'm oil-prone. But overall, the finish was light and natural (applied with fingers as instructed) and the product stayed on well with MAC primer and translucent setting powder (I do not use a setting spray). The only very minor issue I noticed was some accumulation in the nasolabial groove (that line that runs from nose to corner of the mouth). It was minor and subtle and I'll try to troubleshoot this. Also still using a sample and not 100% sure yet if I have the perfect shade, but NW15 is ... Doesn't Stay On!
I honestly loved this foundation at first. I am from a warmer humid state. I purchased this in the winter and this worked great. The one thing that bothered me was if I touched or scratched my face it would wipe off so easily and look blotchy. I have dry skin with my forehead being a combination. It goes on well, blends well with a brush and is buildable. I will say coming from someone who used to have severe acne this would never have covered it though. It helps hide mild acne and mild malasma. Unfortunately once summer hit this absolutely did not work. It's in the 90s and 100s during the summer and this foundation does not stand a chance! It literally melts off your face even with a primer and spray. It actually was recommended by a Ulta employer to try Maybelline ... MoreI honestly loved this foundation at first. Maybe if they make more of a water proof/resistant formula I would consider again.... Show more

It's not bad.
I have always wanted to try this foundation after years of seeing it as an HG product for so many. However, I was a bit disappointed. I bought NC20 and the description of the shade couldn't be more wrong. It's so orangey, nothing "light beige with neutral golden undertone" about it. I'm a light-medium neutral olive skin tone. The picture of the swatch on here, NOT the circle of color next to the name of the shade, is pretty accurate to what the foundation looks like. I just used a blue pigment mixer to cool the tone down to make it work for me. I just don't get why the swatch preview of the foundation and the circle of color next to the name are no where near the same, but oh well I'll do more outside research next time/swatch in person.Anyway, the formula is ... It says for all skin types, but I would suggest this only for those who have oily skin because my generally normal skin found it way too dry/matte and I had to spray my Glow Recipe watermelon mist to get it to wear on my skin better.... Tried and True over Years!
I've used Studio Fix Fluid for 13+ years, before the shade expanse. I used to struggle with NC15 as the lightest shade. It was always still too dark for my true colour, but I loved the formula, the wear, the finish, everything. Now that there are shades as light as NC5, I find it to be a better match, it still oxidizes a bit while wearing. But it's a really amazing foundation. It's lightweight, it doesn't cake, it's full-coverage and very buildable. Leaves the skin looking healthy soft matte and wears nicely throughout the day. It has a bit of a chemical smell, but it fades away after 1-2 hours. This foundation does not come with a pump, so purchasing one for it has helped me keep my dispensing clean! I love this foundation so much!... Show more
