I purchased several of these during a sale. They broke it up into two shipments (4 in one, 2 in the other). When I received the 2nd shipment, upon opening I found remnants of
the powder eyeshadow on the compacts and also inside the boxes. When I opened the compacts, they had clearly been touched (swatched). This is just unacceptable,
unhygienic and just plain gross. Do better (the shadows in question were Swiss Chocolate & Royal Rendezvous). The quality isn't the problem, its great, just what happened
with these specific eyeshadows.

Pat, pat, pat. My fingers went. Those marked the sounds of my first experience applying MAC eyeshadows to my eyelids. Gazing into the mirror, I was struck by how Expensive Pink laid like a soft, slight foil effect making my eyes bigger, brighter, more eye-catching. Show-stopping, it was. The lightweight consistency with strong pigmentation makes the final look look irresistibly good. It lays on the skin like the eyeshadow color becomes the skin--inconceivable perfection. It looked so natural while still being bold and lovely, not laying as a second coating as many other eyeshadows do. The texture, so soft and buttery, yet tightly pressed so that only a touch or two is needed to get the kind of pigment you desire. By the end of the day the eyeshadow was still on and still looking gorgeous, so I instantly determined, having tried many other eyeshadows both drugstore and high end over the years, from Wet n Wild to Urban Decay, from Milani to Anastasia Beverly Hills, from Loreal to Lorac, from Morphe to Too Faced, that MAC eyeshadows possess the most superior eyeshadow formula. With more time and experience with this formula, my great height of love grew more and more. The most important reason that makes this formula superior is that MAC eyeshadows blend to perfection. You can see the demarcation of one color to the next when you are blending multiple colors in the crease and yet the final look provides a smooth gradient effect with proper technique. ABH, though packed with lovely, out-of this world pigment, tend to lay extraordinarily well on the lid but tend to muddy in the crease. The second most valuable aspect of MAC eyeshadows is its high dimensionality. This refers to how much depth and dimension can be gleamed and achieved by the blending of colors or by colors individually. Woodwinked is a perfect example of an individual color with high dimensionality. Applied to the lid you can see its depth and richness all by itself. Continuing to bring this color up to the crease and blending it all by itself in a one-eyeshadow look provides depth and dimension to your crease untold just on its own. A single MAC eyeshadow provides extraordinary levels of dimensionality to the eye look, from deepening the outer v, adding dimension the crease, providing rich depth to the eyelid, creating soft depth in the brow bone area that amplifies the strength of the arch which lends itself to even deeper dimension in the crease area, etc. Blending multiple colors such as Soft Brown, Saddle and Espresso (or any viable combination) altogether in the crease will create a perfect, smooth, lovely gradient effect from a soft brownish peach to an espresso brown with heavy dimensionality in which you can see where each color starts and stops, the depth created in your eye socket that makes it look more pronounced and makes the eyes look larger and the high level of depth and intensity to the look created by gradually adding darker colors to the crease. Lorac shadows also offer proper dimension but it's just that MAC creates it to a higher degree and greater intensity. The richness in dimension offered by MAC eyeshadows is second to none. The third reason MAC eyeshadows are exceptional is the pigmentation. Colors like Red Brick, Amber Lights, Embark, Satin Taupe, Plumage, (discontinued) Fig 1, Bottle Green, Indian Ink, Passionate, Cranberry, Contrast, Naval, Brun, Brule, Goldmine, Scene, and I'm Into It, to name a few, strike me every time I use them with their intense pigmentation and incredible buttery-soft smoothness and ease of use. These are some of the most ink-like pigmented colors I have ever seen across the board. While not all MAC eyeshadows are as intensely pigmented, they all have excellent pigmentation (but a few are buildable--you can control the level of intensity by building it up--like Carbon, their black eyeshadow, that can be built up to smoky, dark, smoldering levels with amazing intensity...this can be positive--preventing intense black from ruining a eye look outright if not used carefully--or negative--that it is simply not as intense as other black eyeshadows on the market). Urban Decay has fantastic pigmentation and so many other brands do. But compared to MAC's best they still would not compare. Make Up For Ever's discontinued eyeshadows absolutely could compete with MAC's best in pigmentation and was a professional makeup artist's dream (but alas those eyeshadows would not have been able to compete with the dimensionality in MAC eyeshadows even though their dimensionality was near perfect but the difference is clear in dimension in both photos and real-life). Many independent brands of eyeshadows have created next-level pigmented eyeshadows that could compete with the best of high-end eyeshadows. Nevertheless, MAC's most pigmented eyeshadows, like Amber Lights, are more or less standards to which all new and old eyeshadows to the market are compared.Fourth, MAC eyeshadows are simply stunning. The pure beauty of all these eyeshadows makes them the best-in-class (e.g. matte/frost finishes) and best-in-category (e.g. browns). Fifth, endless options truly set them apart. MAC eyeshadows, like most do, require proper technique to blend and some basic knowledge of how to do eyeshadow for more complex looks but overall MAC single eyeshadows do look good also placed a little on the lid with a little eyeliner and mascara. Placing a hint of Wedge or Satin Taupe on the lid, for example, is thus easy for the beginner or for someone rushing out the door. This will of course look beautiful and will adhere to the lids wonderfully, as compared to other eyeshadows, to where it will look quite natural and effortless. After many, many years and experience with a variety of formulas, MAC eyeshadows stand as a classic in pure beauty in photos and real life, blendability, dimensionality, richness, pigmentation, long-lasting wear, superior texture and consistency, variety and versatility.... Good but nothing wow!
1 July 2023
Ok so as a professional makeup artist myself I have tried so many different eyeshadows throughout the years. Some Mac shadows are good and some just don’t do it for me! My fave colour however has to be Amber Lights which is a copper bronze. It has a decent pigment and the beauty of this shadow is that there isn’t much drop-age and so does last a lot longer! This is a beautiful colour if you want a bronzed goddess look on your eyes! However, I can’t say this for all the eyeshadow colours. Some are good and some aren’t. I find the matte colours quite dry. There are deffo better mattes out there! But on the plus side, single eyeshadows are really helpful if you just like that one colour and don’t have to buy a full palette again!... Show more

love the wet or dry formulation

Wet I can line my eye with varying intensity and dry it is blend able…also with various intensity. True dark gray, not any blue to the naked eye. Wet it can smooth out to a light gray if you wish. Matte also. You can add shimmer with other shadows if you want. I have older eyes so black is too harsh now and the matte gray is perfect. Have eye and skin sensitivities and this doesn’t bother me. Chanel used to have the wet and dry feature a long time ago and I have missed it.... Show more

Orb Is The Holy Grail For Eyelid Discoloration
13 October 2022
This is my second time buying this eyeshadow in the color Orb. Is my all time favorite base color. I used to use the color Peach's n Cream in the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette (also purchased at Ulta) as my base color for everything, but I ran out and needed to find a substitute for it. So I found Mac Orb shadow to be the best color match. It actually turned out to be better! I use it from lash line, inner eye corners, and all the way up to my eyebrows. Basically, I use a fluffy crease brush and apply it to my entire lid space. It has a slight peachy tone to it, so it helps even out any skin discoloration. It works well with any skin undertone. It also blends well underneath any color of eyeshadow (as long as you use a fluffy brush). If you want to use it only as a ... MoreThis is my second time buying this eyeshadow in the color Orb. If you want to use it only as a lid color for a super brightening effect or just want a lot of color in a specific area of your lid, use a flat eyeshadow brush instead. I was worried that it would make my slightly hooded eyes look even more droopy because it has a slight sheen to it (it's not completely matte), but it actually looked great! The slight sheen it has actually helps blur out any eyelid imperfections. This little eyeshadow single ended up lasting me several months, even though I used it 5 days a week! A little goes a long way! It's really worth every penny. Now that I'm starting to show the first signs of aging, using this as a base color really helped make all the difference in the world.... Regular Mac as Expected
4 January 2023
MAC is my favourite eyeshadow line, even though finding cool-toned colours is a real pain. This is a nice grey, and is midtone if used with a light touch. It, like most MAC colours, takes some getting used to. Pick up too much, and you've got something far too dark and hard to blend away. Don't grab enough, and it looks patchy and is hard to blend into the smooth look you want. I find some colours with MAC is about understanding how to build the colours until you hit the goldilocks zone. You can pull off a lot of looks with this colour, and despite needing a bit of patience, this remains my favourite line for buildablity, durability (it lasts forever, I'm more likely to repurchase due to it being old than hitting pan, with a few exceptions), and a formula that ... MoreMAC is my favourite eyeshadow line, even though finding cool-toned colours is a real pain. Smooth and Long Lasting Eyeshadow
5 April 2023
MAC matte eyeshadow has become my fave! So far I have four colors in shades that suit my skin tone. They all go on smoothly and stay put all day. My favorite go-to is Omega, a soft fawn brown for most but it shows up quite well on my fair skin without being overbearing. The colors are buildable for a more dramatic look. Blanc Type is an ivory, perfect to use as a base if you want to add another color to the outer lid or crease, or to add highlights at the inner eye or under brows. Scene is a smoky lavender and Per-Suede Me is a light spring green (was hoping it was more olive but it's a fun color nevertheless). I love that none in this line are sparkly...not a good thing at my older age. Wedge - perfect crease/no-makeup eye contour colour
28 October 2023
After reading a lot of reviews I purchased the colour Wedge as I was looking for a single pot to take on holidays rather than a huge palette. I also took the Ilia palette but needed a neutral crease colour to combine or wear on it's own. I'm quite pale and this was perfect. It's dark enough to provide definition but blends very easily so can make it look like a natural shadow/contour. Paraben and Phthalate free too which I was looking for. Such an easy winner of a product for no-makeup looks or providing definition.... Show more
