Exceptional. Purchased for Download Festival and was dry the whole time. Fell over in the mud (my absolute length on my back) and it didn’t in any way permeate, stayed clean and dry underneath. Wiped clean too! Couldn’t find a jacket anywhere near as waterproof as this one for less than £80-£100, massively impressed with the price. Can’t recommend enough honestly. It’s even super easy to get back into the sac.

Great product and great value for money for a waterproof light jacket. Love the colour I picked but there is an amazing range of colours in the jackets so may order another one in a different colour. Excellent company with very effective and efficient customer service. I ordered the wrong size, small, instead of extra small and it was super easy to request a replacement. Company had fast communications and kept me up-to-date along the way. I'd highly recommend this company! In fact I already have, to my daughter, who will be ordering a jacket and trousers soon.

Brilliant comfortable, lightweight waterproofs

Really impressed by these, I haven't been out in the rain with them for hours yet, but on shorter trips of an hour they've kept me completely dry in the lashing rain of the Hebrides. They are so light and packable, but also very comfortable. They fit perfectly over my windbreaker. They keep the wind and rain out, but despite being so thin keep in the warmth just enough, but not too much. The vent at the back stops you getting too hot and prevents condensation. The elasticated cuffs are great, and the drawstring on the hood is good. They are thin, but that's why they're light - time will tell if they're durable enough. You can get lighter from brands like OMM but at a far higher price, and will anything be durable that is that thin? Does what it says on the bag.

I wanted a quality waterproof jacket small enough to fit into my day pack to ward off those unexpected showers.I bought a medium (I'm a 90cm chest) and at first I thought it was too big but it was a perfect fit and there's enough room to layer if one needed to.It also has 4 spacious pockets.I had the opportunity to test it in a heavy shower. It was totally waterproof and the hood fit well with the drawstring adjustment. All in all, it's perfect for my needs at quite a reasonable price.

Great waterproof jacket at a really good price
29 August 2024

I liked the look of the Origin Packable Waterproof Jacket and there are plenty of colours to choose from. I wasn't sure which size would fit best so I ordered two different sizes. They arrived quickly and it was easy to return the jacket which was too big. I'm a size 14/16 and kept the medium - there's room to wear a few layers underneath, but it doesn't look baggy with just a t-shirt underneath. The Ocean jacket I kept is a lovely colour (looks exactly like the pictures). It's had plenty of wear already and is doing a great job - light and waterproof - exactly what I needed. Very reasonably priced when you compare with lightweight waterproof jackets from other brands. I recommend Mac in a Sac and will definitely buy from them again.

Just what I wanted!
26 June 2024

I bought my Mac in a sac Origin jacket mainly to keep in my car or take in my hand luggage when travelling as an emergency raincoat. It is ideal for my needs due to its small pack size. What surprised me when I received the jacket was the quality and fit which was far better than I had expected. Since buying the jacket the weather has improved so I can’t comment on its waterproof properties yet but I’m sure it will keep me dry for short periods.

Perfect fit but not very breathable
31 May 2024

I bought XS and found it to be perfect fit (I’m a woman 5’3” 56kg) ample length with flattering curved back hem. The jacket feels more substantial than typical oackable jacket. Red is true postbox red (nice & vibrant). Used it for the hiking in snowdon which was rainy & windy, it stood well against the elements however I wish the fabric were more breathable but all in all - a jacket that looks nice on, fits for purpose for a reasonable price.

Perfect!

My hobby is landscape photography, so I go this as an 'emergency' waterproof that I could keep in my bag 24/7, without worrying about it taking up too much valuable space or adding to the weight. It's a lot smaller and lighter than I expected it to be, and as a result is all but unnoticeable in the front of my bag. The fit is great - There's more than enough extra space in the fit to allow you to layer, without it being too baggy over just a t-shirt. Conveniently (for this review, anyway!), the first time I went out after purchasing the jacket, I got caught in an unexpected shower. Popped the jacket out and within a few seconds, it was on and keeping the rain at bay. It did the job flawlessly, and it's really easy to get unpacked in a hurry! When the rain stopped, the jacket dried in about 5 minutes, so I could pack it away again without any worries.Overall, I couldn't recommend this jacket enough! It's absolutely perfect for what I wanted it for, and I'll probably be buying a polar jacket for the same reasons when the weather takes a turn!

What it says on the tin

Haven’t worn it in anger but fits well. 40 inch chest and bought medium and seems well made. Wouldn’t wear it for a day on the hills in poor weather but ideal to keep in the car or rucksack for when you might get a downpour. Also provides insulation in windy or cool conditions. Not sure about condensation issue’s though. All in all seems a useful product and better fitting than flappy old pacamacs of the past
