I am somewhat a fan of this foundation, I don't normally wear matte finishes anymore but this used to be a staple in my makeup bag. The coverage is full and easy to build, it doesn't feel super heavy on your face. Unfortunately, I could never use a brush to blend this, I had to use a drenched BB because for some reason the brush it just ended up leaving me streaky. Mac is known for its wide range of shades and it never disappoints in that department. If you have oily skin I think this could be a great option, I have dry skin and my skin always felt more dry after wearing. The packaging is minimal in my opinion, it comes in a fitted box like most makeup products which protect the foundation. To some it is important to know that MAC is Canadian based, is not cruelty ... This makeup is not vegan nor halal.... Show more

I have spent years and a whole lot of money trying to find my match. I have a large dark spot that takes up most of my forehead. I’ve been to the beauty shop to learn what to do. I have searched makeup artist in my town. I decided I would try one last time before giving up. I went to Ulta yesterday to take back the last makeup failed attempt. There were about three “makeup artists” there so I chose one and my face looked awful. Even more orange than it was. I headed to the perfume next to another makeup person. She said hello and asked if I needed help. Me joking (sorta) said I don’t think my face can be helped. She then whipped out the Mac mineralize and boom even more of the spot was hidden. I’m in shock bye this time. I still have some of the ugly dark spot but don’t feel embarrassed as I have been for many years. I can’t thank that woman and Mac enough. Hopefully when I get the hang of it I can play with it to achieve even more success.... Show more

As I did for EF Double Wear (I tried nearly every so-called longlasting foundation except the original and best) I feel silly for not having tried this before. It applies and blends like a dream with only fingers. Not much is needed and the finish is solidly medium coverage with a low-lustre natural finish. It does not pool in pores or shift orange after applying. The website plays up the matte/longlasting aspect but this isn't really a melt- or transfer-proof formula. Still, the lasting power is pretty good and when it does wear off it does so with dignity instead of crumbling or cracking. The most limiting part of this wonderful foundation is color-matching. If your MAC counter is rarely staffed (like mine) you will have a guessing game finding your correct match, or matches. Still, I find this foundation to perform extremely well and will almost certainly buy it in the future.... Show more

Disappointed 20 year customer
I am really disappointed to see a trend where Mac keeps discontinuing and reformulating really good staple products recentlyCouple of thoughts on the reformulation:- i really no longer understand the logic of the shading system. What is the point to have a shading code when none of the shades match across the products? I guess the original plan was that you could pick a concealer and foundation and have confidence they will work together. It's so frustrating that the shades keep changing, i had to try 4 new shades of the new studio fix fluid before mixing to get what i had before (i was C5.5)- i used studio fix fluid before especially for the high coverage. It was great as i could also use a thinner layer and buff out if needed. The new one needs more product to ... The new one needs more product to reach the same level and it seems very different- i spent many years loyal to mac but so much has been discontinued and completely changed, that it makes me worried to get into anything new in case that is also reworked later on with all colours changed. Because of this I'm slowly switching out my mac products for other brandsPlease please look at all the negative reviews here and consider before changing any more core products this year... Show more

Finally something that works!
First, I have very fair, textured, pigmented, acne-prone, INSANELY OILY skin. Recently my skin did one of those things where my usual foundations just.... stopped working for me? I don't know why that happens, but it sucks when your typical products suddenly look horrible and you have to rush to find something else. I've tried foundations from pretty much every prestige brand and usually would wear DW or NARS. While on my hunt, I tried several other brands and they all looked horrible. I was starting to get worried until I tried this one. I have never worn MAC until now and I'm really glad I tried it. I got NC10 which is still slightly too dark for me, but it's not enough to make me return this. This goes on so smooth, has a beautiful satin finish, covers my ... I got NC10 which is still slightly too dark for me, but it's not enough to make me return this. This goes on so smooth, has a beautiful satin finish, covers my pigmentation well, only slightly settles into my fine lines, does not separate (thank GOD), does not look cakey, feel heavy, sticky, gross, etc. My first test of this product was a busy day of chores, going to the gym/sweating, then going out with family in the evening for several hours. My makeup still looked flawless after an entire day of wear and that is something that never happens for me. My face is like an oil slick and most foundation slides off after a couple hours. So far, this foundation is reaching holy grail status for me. The finish gets even better throughout the day as it mixes with my natural oil and looks radiant. I'm just obsessed honestly. Obviously, foundation is hit or miss most of the time and what works for one person won't work for another, but I'm so so so grateful I found this product and I definitely think it's worth a try.... Love this!
I haven't used the original Studio Fix, so I can't compare to it but I really love how this foundation looks. It goes on nicely with a buffing brush, leaves skin feeling silky, and although it's matte, it isn't drying (I have dry/combo skin). It gives a really bright, natural, non-cakey finish. Is buildable. It lasts all day. Best of all, it matches my skintone! I didn't try the colour recommended to me in Shade Finder, because it thinks my hard-to-match undertone is peach but I *know* for a fact it's olive. C8 shade nails it. It oxidizes a little, but doesn't look grey or orange. It looks just right. For reference, my shades were 2.1 & 3.0 in the Ordinary.Only been wearing this for a couple of days so far. No irritation. This product is exactly as described. The only con so far is, at medium coverage, it isn't lightweight and I can feel it on my skin. And my face did become a bit on dewy side by the end of the day without powder/setting spray. I'm testing out combinations of skincare & primers to see if that changes anything.Big pro, glad they took the octinoxate out.... Show more

New formula = downgrade
I LOVED the old formula, coverage was seamless, imperfections were covered up but still felt lightweight enough. I would apply my makeup at 7am and would hold all day and evening, occasionally a light dust of powder on my lunchbreak but that's it I used it for years safe in the knowledge I could go into work and not worry about looking in a mirror frequently. However sad to say I've been using this new formula for over a month now and I'm really not happy with it. Its still the same shade as previously, I do exactly the same skincare and routine as before, moisturiser, MAC primer, MAC foundation , MAC concealer, powder and MAC setting spray but after an hour or so the foundation separates looks patchy and no amount of "touch ups" will fix it. Its quite frankly embarrassing when I realise I've sat in the office looking like that . Like other users I have combi skin and this new formula does not work. If it was a cheap brand I would expect it but the quality isn't there anymore. As mentioned earlier NOTHING else has changed I apply the same amount, use all the same other products, do the same activities, when I got the new formula I had a consultation to make sure the shade still worked...I gave it a good month but everyday the same thing happens couple hours in a patchy mess. I found a small amount of my old foundation and used that in work today...and 12 hours later its still going strong. Please bring back the old formula!!!!... Show more

New formula is trash
The new formula is diabolical and if I could rate it 0 stars I would. In the old formula I used NW20 and was told the shades had not changed.. so I bought NW20 in the new formula. It is BRIGHT orange, very stiff and doesn't blend, sits horribly on the skin and not the same coverage so that was a waste of money as I've used it once and never since. After using Mac for 2 decades I've had to switch to NARS. I have seen and heard many other people complaining about the new formula too and also saying they have had to switch to NARS. Why did you have to do this MAC? It's so disappointing , the old formula was a holy grail foundation for me and many other loyal customers! It wasn't broke so why "fix" it. Sad buyer
Welp, another one bites the dust. I've been using MAC Studio Fix for, hmm, 15 years at least? I have mature, very oily skin, plus it can be blotchy with redness in some areas. I need medium to full coverage for sure, but with oil control. I tried the new Studio Fix formula today and set it with Urban Decay's "All Nighter" setting powder, which really helps with all-day wear and shine control. By noon my face was super shiny and the makeup had caked into my fine lines, where it never had before. I don't know how they can label this an "oil control" product - I can literally FEEL the oil sitting on my face, and as I've said, I've never had that with the previous formulation of Studio Fix.I'm so bummed, I loved the product this used to be, but I can't even give this ... Why change a staple????
Why on earth was this changed? We have been using this formula for literal decades and I've never heard anyone complain, it WAS the best out there. Now its even MORE expensive and nowhere near as good. I genuinely don't understand why they would reformulate this. I've NEVER found a foundation match for myself, ever. Except the studio fix NW line. I can't afford to buy two and mix together and now I have to go back to that. This formula is NOT the same shades and the pump is so so stupid. I don't want a pump, I don't need a pump. I've had my own pump for like 10 years, adding one to every bottle is a huge waste of money and extra material to each bottle (which is I'm sure a bi part of the price increase)I'm absolutely floored that MAC would do this, the whole ...
