Excellent Device

I have a pair of Rokit 5's and a pair of Rokit 10-3's and I wanted to use them at the same time. What to do. I have my NI KA6 on input 3/4 and my Traktor S8 on input 5/6 and the whole setup works excellent. I can use the separate CA knob to balance the Rokit 5's out since they get bright on some tracks compared to the massive 10-3's. Sound quality is excellent and the device is cake to set up and use. I really have no complaints for what I'll be using this little guy for.

Good Features; Too Much Noise/Hiss

I am using the mixer to route a couple instruments to my audio interface and to monitor (at home) and from my audio interface to a PA and my monitor (live/rehearsal). It has all the right connections to make this easy and possible. However, even when most of my cables are balanced or short, there is a lot of noise/hiss when I turn up the gain on channels, and I hear it on both my master output as well as my monitor output. Mind you, this is with the knobs turned at most halfway up. It will do for my situation, as I am not using it for recording or gigs that aren't already competing with loud conversations, but that amount of hiss for an extended period (like when I am writing and practicing) is exhausting.

Haven’t used the mic preamps, all my inputs are line level. I can see using it for solo or duet gigs for sure. Great combination of features for the price. Sound quality is good too – it has handled a wide range of input levels with no problems. It’s an awesome practice tool, and I’m sure it will see plenty of other uses in my home studio/jam room. Free 2 day shipping is great too.

Bought this to help tie four new synths together. Thank you, AMS! 0% financing made all this possible. In a couple of months, I'll be looking to pick up some more new gear! Including possibly upgrading this mixer. This mixer does its job -flawlessly. Wish it had muteswish I had bought more channels. Highly recommended, great price/value.

No frills analog mixer. No effects. Just pure analog routing. No USB out.I'm using as a submixer on a dawless rig into an behringer xeynx 802. Pretty much for additional inputs i needee. Sound quality is good I like it. Price point is fair for the # of inputs and routing capabilities.Really don't have any cons on this one. Wish things were a bit cheaper. But it's 2024.

Quality to a point

I have two of these, bought both at the same time. One is in reservation for an upcoming event. The one I'm using distorts the audio on anything above unity on the trim. I know gain structure (am a pro), so it's not a matter of misuse.Either the mixer was broken out of the box or there's a problem with Mackie's trim opamp. Unfortunately I used the mixer for months before discovering the problem, then thought ALL of my onboard files were corrupt. I pretty quickly discovered that below unity it's fine. I was on the road so the other mixer never came into play.If you have low input you may want to avoid these. Also the lack of a simple On/OIf power switch is a problem. That should be standard on Mackie gear.I made it work okay, and it's fine, the quality is ... MoreI have two of these, bought both at the same time. One is in reservation for an upcoming event. Review of Mackie Mix8 Compact Mixer

I got this mixer to replace a 4channel Ammoon AGM04 mixer as I need to have 48 phantom power across 2 channels for 2 mices and the Ammon only provided phantom power out of channel 1.This mixer seemed like a great deal as it had phantom power across 2 channels, had 8 channels as supopsed to just 4 on the Ammon and was also a tenner cheaper! However there are a couple of issues with this mixer. First the build quality is not great. the box itself seems solid enough, but the knobs feel quite loose compared to the Ammon and other audio products I own in a similar price range. That is not really that big a deal however, what is more eannoying is the constant loud static hiss I get via my headphones when monitoring. I am using exactly the same set up as before - same mics, leads, headphones etc. the only thing which has changed is the mixer. I have cut this out a bit by reducing the high and mid frequencies, but I can't get rid of it. The hiss comes through at only a very low level when recording i.e. it does not effect the final recording much - it is just the live monitoring where it is an issue. It basically just makes it less comfortable when listening.I am using this for corporate video recording which is mostly just talking. This is probably why it is more noticeable. If you are using the mixer for music it might be less of an issue.

My Behringer X1204USB mixer died after many years of faithful service. Not a huge dealbreaker (especially for things like vocal effects sends or mix-minus to a remote listener who needs to hear other content) but worth noting. It does the vast majority of what I want it to do without issue. Strongly recommended.

This mixer seems well built and I can see it working perfectly for many applications but they added some features that are just barely there but fall short in practice. The major flaw is that Aux Send/Receive features. It's odd that it has a single mono send but then has a stereo receive and while that can be worked around what can't in many applications is the lack of control of the receive audio. To put it plainly, there is no way to separate the raw mix input and the post-effects input. While this might work fine for things such a reverb that only add to the signal, the mixer simply can't be used with effects processors such as delay units and noise gates which require the mic input to be removed from the main mix. 8 June 2020

I have used behringer mixers for years. sold some gear at GC and got this mixer. I am so glad I got this. it sounds waaaaay better than any behringer mixer I have owned, and I have owned them from the 60 dollar to the 200 dollar. plus the low end on this sounds great on my drum machine and keyboards. don't know if I will get a larger one, no time soon, this is for drum machine/keyboard and whatever else to go into my digitech sampler, and another sampler for guitar. it sounds great. DO NOT BUY BEHRINGER STUFF. this is way better. sounds great, clean and the eq is awesome, very responsive
