Great fleece. Used most recently on the Larapinta. Great for wearing around camp and whilst hiking. Even wore it to bed on cold days. Wore a , as it breathes well and regulates temperature fantastically. Wore it under a lightweight waterproof jacket on windy mornings and was snug and warm. These do run small, so would suggest sizing up.

I'm a size 12 - 14, I ended up getting the 16 as the fit is very small. I got the maroon colour as the only other options were black or white, seriously white as an option!!! It was warm but not as warm as it was made out to be, even with a merino layer underneath it was still a bit chilly at times. The thumb loops are double the size they need to be so I couldn't use them. The pocket is great & folds up easily.But it looks nice, feels nice on. So happy with my purchase.

This is the best warmth to weight garment I have ever seen!I've tried everything from merino to polarfleece. Nothing keeps me as warm as this light wee number, which is surprising given how gappy it looks. It traps heat like a pro! I wear it only when stationary at camp or sleeping so can't comment on it's technical breathability while hiking/moving. But at camp I can feel my skin heat up the moment I put this thing on.Size up one size. I'm a size 6-8 and the 10 fits me perfect.Please Macpac - make more of these in more colour ways! - And please no ugly pockets like the mens one. Just keep it simple and mega light like the womens model! That's the allure of it!

Very warm layer for the weight. Perfect insulating layer for an ultralight setup. I'm a 173cm man but I got the womens version because I didnt want the pocket. Women's size 16 fits around the same as a men's medium and weighs just over 130g.
Bought the Nitro specifically for tramping after reading good reviews about garments made with Polartec Alpha. I wear just a lightweight merino base layer like a tee shirt or singlet under it as that is all you need, could also wear it alone. Amazing warmth for such a lightweight top. Works as it was designed for under high exertion, sweat dries quickly. In cold wind you need to add a wind proof top or shell. The design of the top is deliberately slim in order for it to work like it does so in that regard I would call it true to size. I’m generally a size 10 in Macpac clothing and that’s what I purchased for this garment. If you prefer a more loose fitting style, or intend to wear more layers underneath, then you will definitely need to size up.
Bought for lightweight backpacking. I layer it under an UL windproof shirt as an UL insulation layer. It works exactly as I had hoped. Not as warm as the fleece it replaced in my pack, but the combination of thermal+this+windjacket is significantly lighter than the old fleece jacket and just as warm as a combo.If you didn't notice through the product photos, it is a very "holey" knit and is not warm alone - it really should be layered - because the wind can go right through it.Great addition to anyone's 3 season lightweight backpack.
I read other reviews and sized up. I am normally a size 12 so bought a 14 online. Although it is great, it is a little big.So I went and bought a size 12. Fit perfectly.It is lightweight yet warm, but you will need a wind proof layer if in a cold windI love the Ink Blue colour
It just doesn't look that special but it really is and I love it! There's no Men's XS available so I took a chance on the women's size 10 in black. Fits great as it's pretty straight and not too flared at the hips - I can wear a Brynje base layer underneath and it fits close, as it should. It loses the useless pocket of the Men's version which I'm happy about. I've used it as lightweight insulation whilst running trails and overnight fastpacking. I heat up and sweat in most layers but this thing breathes like nothing else! If you're a horrible sweaty person like me this is a game changer. So many products claim to be breathable and I've tried many of them and most fall short - the Nitro doesn't. I'm considering buying another one as I love it so much!
Super lightweight yet warm. Worn by itself it provides some warmth with very high breathability as it's loosely woven, so wind can get right through to prevent overheating when you're active. Throw a light windbreaker over top to block the wind and now you have a super warm and versatile "coat" at a fraction of the weight of anything comparable! Seems very fragile material but it's actually fairly strong, but clearly not intended for bush-bashing. Not much stretch so I'd recommend sizing up, which worked perfectly for me. Also great worn as a sleeping layer for cool-weather tramping.
So glad I bought this top. Ultra lightweight but quite warm as a top layer for sitting around in the evening. It is a loose fuzzy knit, and I wouldn’t use it for any activity where it could snag on twigs/rocks; I haven't tried it with a pack on so no idea how well it would stand up to straps rubbing. However I used it on cool evenings sitting out on a boat deck in Tassie recently with a lightweight merino T underneath and it was plenty warm enough. Fit is not too tight, not baggy. I do plan to buy another in a different colour when the next season’s range comes out.
