Torlesse Backpacks are for New Zealand conditions. They're made from a combination of Cordura and nylon ripstop fabrics as a lighter alternative to canvas. These fabrics offer durability in changeable weather, and this backpack's features are suited to hikers who value comfort, and packing light. There's a large main compartment, a zipped pocket under the lid, a port for your hydration bladder, and dual walking pole (or ice axe) attachments. Our fixed AirFlo harness balances support and breathability. It has the same anatomic shoulder straps and generous 3D Air Mesh ventilation as the larger AirFlo Flexi-Fit, but its smaller size doesn't require internal stays. A soft foam hip belt ensures freedom of movement and comfort to ensure effective weight transfer for efficient hiking. Perfect for day hikes, lightweight overnight adventures, and travelling off the beaten track. A compact Torlesse for anyone who values comfort as much as packing light. Ideal for short trips and overnight hikes.

Awesome overnight camping pack for tweens, but there's a better choice

I bought this pack for my 12 year old Scout 12 months ago and it's been an awesome hiking pack for 2 night hiking camps. He's still got a good 5-6 years growing room in this
pack, but even with ultra-light, compact gear it's a tight pack. I bought him the 50 litre Macpac today which has loads of awesome features, and wish I'd stretched the budget
a wee bit a year ago. For girls the 50 litre Macpac is a must as the 50 litre comes in a women's fit, so you can get the tightness around the hips in young, slight girls where the
35 litre Macpac is unisex only and the hip straps are too big, so all weight is in the shoulders. My son LOVES this pack. It's a great choice. The 50 litre size packed... Show more

I have owned upwards of 20 different day packs over last 40 years - this one trumps them all, so I bought another one -for my partner (W version). Feature rich, comfortable,
attention to detail. Particularly like the lighter coloured interior lining which makes finding stuff in the bottom of the pack so much easier.

Macpac Torlesse 35L Hiking Backpack
3 February 2022
Great pack that is very comfortable. I used it whilst riding the Timber Trail on my Mountain Bike and it was great. I guess the only thing I have a concern over is the long term durability of the plastic clips as they feel a bit flimsy but time will tell.... Show more

Not too big, not too small
10 November 2019
I got this bag for my days out climbing where I need to bring harness, shoes, helmet and some clothes. I find it is the ideal size for a day mission. The pack is comfortable for me. I like the general aesthetics of the pack as it is not too bulky, and has a hidden front/side pocket which is handy.... Show more

Okay

An okay backpack. I've been using it alot, and I still use it alot. But it is a bit too tall and skinny for my liking. Also I wish the opening at the top was a bit bigger. The water bottle holders on each side are not very big. They can hold a 2 litre water bottle, but only just, it is extremely tight, and very annoying to slide a 2 litre water bottle in and out because of the tightness. More suited to a 1 litre bottle. And if I'm doing a day hike, I prefer to take 2 x 2l water bottles! The straps can be annoying to open and close. And dirt sticks to the material on the backpack very easily. For me, this backpack is 'frustrating' to use, every time I take it off my back and get stuff in and out of it. I think the ease of use should be better considering it's only a ... MoreAn okay backpack. I've been using it alot, and I still use it alot. But it is a bit too tall and skinny for my liking. I'm sorry for all the negative comments. This is my first ever day pack I've ever owned , so maybe these things I've mentioned are very common among other day packs this size? I'm not sure. I will keep using this backpack for another year or two so anyway. :)... Show more

Pack for Motorcycle Tour
19 December 2022
Needed a smallish pack for a 8 day motorcycle tour as I didn't want the expense and hassle of fitting paniers for an occasional multiday ride. This pack was fit for purpose. It didn't interfere with any parts of the motorcycle or the small tail bag (also fitted on the bike). It was comfortable and had plenty of room.... Show more

Sturdy, reliable, good size and fit, incredibly comfortable.
20 February 2021
The Torlesse 35L women’s pack was excellent to carry 5kg on the Routeburn Track. This pack was extremely comfortable, with several adjustable straps to easily transfer the load during our 3-day hike. When my pack was filled to 7kg capacity for the domestic flights to the South Island, the Macpac fitted in the overhead locker on the plane. I would definitely recommend this size pack for hiking and travelling.... Show more

Very good pack for day or overnight trips
27 June 2021
Well built and strong and good for overnight and day trips where you need to carry a little more than normal. Would have liked a few more features like pockets on the waist belt or shoulder strap for things like quick access to a PLB, camera or snack but apart from that a good pack.... Show more

Well designed and comfortable Pack.

I have just completed the South West Coastal Path in Cornwall carrying my Torlesse 35L pack.I'm very happy with my decision to purchase the Torlesse pack for this long journey walking over several weeks. It stayed dry using the rain cover and was very comfortable to carry with the weight well distributed through my hips and shoulders. The pack still looks new which is impressive given the long days and hard conditions.... Show more
