I ordered a black Aurora long hooded down coat, which was confirmed. The coat which arrived is not black - it is somewhere between a dark grey to dark khaki green, depending on the light. The coat will still do the job I purchased it for, but I was surprised there had been no communication from Macpac advising on the change of colour.I do not wish to return the coat.

Absolutely love this jacket, I had the shorter mid thigh one and wanted a longer one for weekend sports games and general cold weather wear. I really feel the cold and in this jacket I stayed warm and snug the whole time. Really pleased with the super soft overall feel of the jacket with the soft cuff liners and lined pockets. The hood is brilliant at giving extra protection around the head/neck on windy days and had no need for a beanie if wearing the hood. I could keep going but honestly if you want a warm snuggly jacket with a flattering cut that is to the knee, grab it! I'm 165cm tall, sz 12/14 and got a size 14 and when zipped it is just below the knee and is generous fit, would say true to size

Absolutely love this coat. I’m 158cms tall so this coat hits me mid calf. It is toasty warm and my daily go to coat. As a teacher in chilly Canberra this coat is the only one I’ve found that keeps me warm during winter playground duty. Highly recommend.

Originally bought a kmart long puffer but found it so heavy and cumbersome.Whilst expensive even on sale it is worth it as I wear it all winter in Tassie .It keeps the wind out and rain .It’s light weight so can take it on and off easily and cart around .Perfect jacket for cold wintersWish it had buttons as well as a zip as sometimes you don’t want a full zipped up jacket but a few buttons .I ama size 14 and it fit perfectly, enough to put a thick polar fleece under neathI love the fleece hand warmers and lined pockets
I feel I’m in a super light, super warm duvet, from head to toe, while not feeling at all constricted (if it wasn’t so warm I feel I could do an exercise class in it), and would definitely recommend this jacket. Cannot believe I almost decided to cancel the order - i was sure I wasn’t really going to like it and it would make me look like a worm and would be restricting when walking, especially as it only has full length zip. It has a much better and slimmer shape than in the pictures (goes in a bit at the waist and is more a-line than what is always in picture), movement is easy and not limited at all, extremely light, super warm and cosy, fabric is smooth and soft, cuffs are great and not tight (as they usually are) and would pack up nicely into itself. So glad I bought this and so happy I got it during sales - definitely feels like the best winter jacket in market and a steal at under $300 (I would be very happy with this jacket even if I paid full price - seems worth every penny). It would be absolutely perfect if they included one invisible magnetic button at the waist (it is so warm and, when used for standard city living, in an Australian winter, it would be nice to have option to keep it mainly open at front and just have easy open/closure - it would also enhance its shape….. you can do zip up on both ends and just have zip in middle but it does mean having to zip whole thing up and down to get on and off, which is annoying given the length - this was main reason I was going to cancel and get the aritzia super puff - dodged bullet as I found out that the super puff is deceivingly heavier than the reviews make it sound - at least twice as heavy as the macpac). I am instead going to sew in my own magnetic button, which will be almost invisible and unlikely damage outer material, and overall I definitely think this is the best full length jacket that I found, by way of quality, warmth, weight and aesthetics (researched most well known competitors). It is so great that I actually feel proud of myself for buying it.Sizing is perfect (my measurements are exactly within size 6 range provided and jacket fits according to expert advice for insulated jackets and getting most out of their warmth - ie give yourself a hug, it should not feel like you are about to be the hulk but there should not be excess material either).
Great jacket for Melbourne winter going into work. The extra long length helps keep me a bit warmer. The matt fabric of the puffer is really nice.I normally wear a size 10 for other brands (Saba, Country Road) but buy size 12 for Macpac coats like this (I am tall with long arms).
I was worried initially it would be too long as I am quite short at 5ft but it's perfect, falls just below the knees and the dual zipline means I can wear it looser on the legs without restricting my walking pace. This especially frosty winter szn in Vic has truly tested it (especially as my pooch demands daily walks on our beautiful local beach). I love that it feels like I'm wrapt in a toasty doona minus the marshmallow man look!! Removable hood is easy and functional. So so happy I spent the extra $$ for the quality this offers!!! Oh and Speedy customer service too, I had it within 3 days in regional vic which is Amazing.
I bought the Aurora shorter version for the commute to work, and to use as an overcoat when outside in winter. I loved it so much, I bought the longer version. The long Aurora is the perfect length for keeping warm while watching kids’ sport on the weekends. It is light-weight, but provides excellent warmth, and with a longer length to the mid-calf also stops the wind against your legs. The fleece lined wrist cuffs and collar help increase the level of comfort. The only negative is the ‘black’ colour way is not a true black - it is more charcoal than black, so looks dark-grey against other black clothing. I was expecting a true black colour (as I wanted a different colour to my shorter Aurora) but it doesn’t bother me as it is a lovely colour. Hi there,I so love my sleeping bag like coat that has helped me survive the cold outside when on outside teaching duty. I did order black and because it was so dark I didn't notice until my head teacher stood beside me in her black MAcpac and we both realised mine is green. Fortunately I do love green and it has been a while.
I'm a size 12 & this is true to size (I don't think you could fit many layers underneath, but you wouldn't need to). At 5'3", this comes down to my knees. With a soft brushed material at the collar & inside the pockets, & inner fleece cuffs to keep your hands warm, it's very warm & cosy. I'm looking forward to putting it to the test when it gets really cold.A note that the periscope colour is definitely more dark grey, with only a hint of dark purple colour. I would have loved royal purple, which it looked like on my computer browser. When I emailed Customer Service to ask about the colour, they replied "we asked our Design Team about the colour Periscope and have been told that it is closer to a dark dusty purple".
