Nice plump thighs. I was very happy to sample the Woolworths Macro Chicken Thigh Fillets FreeRange, which sell for $17 per kilo. I got these on my second visit to Woolworths. I located them easily due tothe nice green colour on the top of the package. The pack was easy to open and the thighs looked nice and plump. I buy thighs often but have not tried these as I usually buy the regularthighs due to the price difference. The thighs required some trimming as there was quite a bit of fat on eachthigh. I used the thighs in a korma chicken tray bake and they were excellent, tender, thick and juicy. They are very versatile and there is no end of recipes you could make withthem. Nice chicken. I hate to admit it - but since my Dad passed away - I haven’t actually cooked anything from scratch. Redeeming these chicken thigh fillets meant I had to remember where the pots and pans were. I swear I could hear both Mum and Dad cheering as I started cutting the chicken for some spicy tacos. The pieces I got were of a decent size. So much so, Millie and Snowy (my fur babies) got a few tidbits along the way. Millie drooled and spun in circles for more. Snowy just rolled on his back, tongue lolling out the side of his mouth, and he had a siesta. They coated well and were extremely tasty. Nice and moist, as well as tender (like other Bunchees - I prefer the thigh fillets better than the breast fillets. My Mum always said they were a better part of the ... MoreNice chicken. I am not sure I could tell the difference between these organic thighs and the everyday thighs on taste or texture. Most of the chicken I get from Woolies is great anyway. The price is the big thing. I am on a budget, so I wouldn’t be buying these in my normal shop. Top job, Woolies, and thank you for having these as a tester!

Our chinos loved it! Would we purchase again, yes if seen on special or we have extra $ in the shopping budget ✨I prefer cooking with chicken thighs vs breast as it retains moisture when cooked. Also perfect for slow cooking. Thank you for our sample! ✨

Very Nice ! Love that it is 100% Aussie! and the Macro brand to me is confidence in my purchases. Generous pieces so I will get 2 meals from them (2 people), makes the purchase economical. They were tender, moist and still tasted like chicken after they were cooked. The colour of the raw fillets was nice which indicated having access to grass. I made a Slow cooked pumpkin and apricot dish and left the fillets whole, browning off any fat first. The amount of fat varied, one had minimal and the other had more so didn't have to add any oils or fats in browning and the brown crust was perfect. Given their roundness they would be conducive to making roulades which is what I will do with the other two fillets. Most enjoyable and I would recommend these be purchased. ... MoreVery Nice ! Thighs to dream of.... As someone who doesn’t cook much with chicken thighs , we came up with a simple and quick way to prepare them. It was an experimental casserole-type dish of chicken in a vegetable and tomato based sauce. First we browned the chicken thighs and were surprised to find the thighs were quite large and juicy once they had been unfurled in the pot. They appeared fresh (they had a 7 day best before date) and there was minimal, if any, fat on the fillets. Added the extra ingredients and once the chicken was cooked enough, we broke it up into smaller bite size pieces. Served with rice, this was a delicious meal and we were quite proud of ourselves that we could create such a lovely dinner The chicken thighs were soft and tender. Juicy, broke apart easily but not too easily. At $17/kg perhaps not the cheapest chicken going around but well worth It for a dish that will last a few meals in our household as well as being free-range chicken ✅ If we feel so inclined to cook chicken thighs again, we won’t hesitate to purchase these ones. Thanks Woolies for another bonza bunch sample

TASTY but PRICEY. Macro Chicken Thigh Fillets Free Range 450g - 800gPrice: $12. 09 for 711g ($17 per kg) Instore Location: Raw chicken refrigerated shelving unit. There are two such units next to each other in my store. I firstly looked in the wrong one as I could see raw chicken products there. When I moved on to the second cabinet I also had trouble spotting this particular product as all the Macro raw chicken packs were the same colour and similar designs. Disposed of in rubbish bin- Paper label advising weight, price, Best Before date and product name(NOTE: I am a member of Nielsen Scan and as there was no line barcode on this product, I found it trickier to log in this product once I got it home. I did have a matrix QR scan logo, but that is not something I can use for Nielsen scanning) Life/Storage: Purchased 12th Sept 2020 with a Best Before date of 23rd September (if kept in refrigerator at 1-4 degrees C) *The parts I trimmed off. Very 'tough' bitsGeneral: I would normally use this cut of chicken for roasting or stewing, as it is a chewier style of chicken. I however wanted to cook creamy mushroom chicken pasta for dinner and it was the only chicken I had on hand. I would normally use juicier, more tender chicken fillets. I had to trim the chicken before cutting it into small bite sized pieces. (white tendons/ligaments(?), a few veins, blood clots, little bit of fat/skin?) That was quite fiddly and not an easy task to do as my knife wasn't sharp enough It got a little rubbery as I cooked it but by the time the dish had bubble d away for a while, it had softened up a little. It was very tasty chicken and I was happy it came from 'happier' chickens that got to wander around in the fresh air before eventually meeting their maker. Overall: Tasty but I should have used this product in a different style meal to prevent it getting rubbery. I'd buy again but only if it was on special. Too pricey for my budget. Loses one star for the priceLoses another star for all the packaging I had to throw awayThree stars out of five for being tasty happy chickenOverall:

Quality Free Range Chicken Thighs. These Free Range Chicken Thighs are tender and full of flavour. I always buy from the Macro range and have found them consistent, fresh and high quality. I am very picky when it comes to chicken because I once owned a farm producing chickens and eggs. I have to say you can tell the difference compared to the average ones. They are Australian Grown and 100% Chicken, with no added hormones. It is accredited Free Range which is important and because we need to know where our food comes from and how it is produced. Chicken Thighs - Family Fave! A great sample to review thanks Bunch! Was happy to see the Australian product label and the Certified Organic tag right at the front of the packet. Chicken thigh is a great cut as it’s moist and tends to not dry out in the cooking process in comparison to the other popular cut being chicken breast. However with that comes a higher fat content and more work as if you are like me, the visual fat needs to be removed. I have taken a photo of the amount of fat removed from four thighs. To be fair, this is not specific to Woolies Macro brand but more so the choice of cut. I am aware some people would opt to cook the thighs as is, and am more than sure restaurants would do so, but at home that is not an option for myself. Aside from the fat content, the product tasted great, the skin and bones were pre-removed making it easy to work with. I ended up cutting the thighs into strips and making Tikka Masala with veges and rice. The chicken worked well in the dish and I would re-purchase the item again.

Great chicken. We regularly buy chicken thighs for multiple uses in our household, but I don't usually buy the macro brand as they are always more expensive. That said it was nice to get this sample to try and see if I could notice the difference. The macro branded chicken products are distinctive with their green packaging, and there is enough clear plastic on top to see the chicken inside. At home the chicken thighs looked good without too much fat on them. My first impression was that they were possibly slightly larger and had slightly less fat on them than the chicken thighs I would usually buy.
