Macro Wholefoods Market Organic Australian almond Meal

Divine for carrot cake. Initially my Woolworths did not have this almond flour and I was giving up hope of being able to trial it. But then toward the end of the redemption period, I spotted it as a new product on the shelf. With much excitement, I added it to the shopping trolley, took it home and used it to make a most divine Donna Hay carrot cake. The sort you don't want to share with anyone. Whilst it is an expensive product and you would need more than one packet of the organic almond flour to make the recipe, it did taste wonderful.

A pantry staple for me. I made an flourless orange cake on the weekend. This is a recipe I have made before and it never fails to impress. With two whole boiled oranges, the almond meal and a few other ingredients a fabulous rich dessert cake is produced. I serve mine with a simple syrup and clotted cream. No complaints. I was grateful for the sample, it spurred me to make the above. Will definitely buy again.

GF Orange and Almond Cake Goodness. So I googled some ideas for almond meal and this was the most popular and so we had for dessert a delicious and moist orange and almond cake. It would be on the pricey side had I not had this fabulous sample but it was so worth it. I found this almond meal to be very high quality and a pure mix. A great source of protein, fibre, vitamin E and magnesium makes for a healthy addition to recipes. I use this in baking slices, cakes, biscuits etc, and always use as a crumb for meat, fish and chicken. This is quite pricey at $12 for 200gm, but that’s what I expect to pay for certified organics. This organic Aussie almond meal is easily found in the healthy Macro range aisle, not to be confused with the regular WW almond meal, which is found in the dried fruit and nuts aisle. The almond meal is very finely ground, which makes it great for sifting in baked goods along with other ingredients. The pack itself is very handy to store as it comes in a zip lock sturdy bag & return to store for recycling. This has a 5 Health rating, gluten free, great source of protein and fibre. I used some of this in macadamia & chocolate friands, which was absolutely divine, along with 2 other samples being macadamia pieces & dollop cream. I was very happy with the end result as I love a dense friand with just a dusting of icing sugar and cream. I'd highly recommend this for baking or bread making or adding to smoothies for extra protein & lovely nutty flavour. As much as I love almond meal, I thought this was quite expensive at $12 - 200g. The high price would be due to it being a certified organic product, but I don't think I'd purchase at that price. I often process whole almonds to the required amount I need at the time.

A batch of brownies! I wasn't sure how to use the almond meal to best effect, so I made a batch of brownies (almond meal plus a lot of eggs, plus maple syrup and cocoa powder and coconut oil, and some chopped walnuts). An enjoyable batch but not quite up to scratch. I wonder if was the use of the remarkably expensive almond meal, or was it my choice of walnuts instead of pecans. Anyway, the Macro Organics Almond Meal is a good product in appearance with very even particle size, nice and dry and not clumpy. My inexperience with the product leads to a slightly inadequate review.

Healthy alternative. I love this product. It Is versatile, being able to be used in many different cooking situations. I particularly loved making gluten free almond cookies with this. The texture of this almond meal is perfect. Being certified organise is a bonus. I have continued to buy this product. The price point is expensive so this product is only purchased when it is on sale.

A high quality product. There are many benefits to using almond meal compared to normal flour, especially for those who have a gluten intolerance. At $12 for 200g, this almond meal is not cheap. But I do understand that almond meal is more expensive than flour, especially when it is certified organic. I used it to make a "non-traditional" carrot cake (pictured below). This almond meal provided an enjoyable flavour and texture to the cake. Very good to see this almond meal also has a 5 Health Star Rating.
