Macro Organic Corn Chips Cheese 200g

Healthier version. These chips have a natural corn flavour that's perfectly complemented by a subtle cheese flavouring. Subtle tangy crunchy. Received as a Bunch sample. Our household is divided on whether BBQ flavoured anything is a good thing - these chips somehow satisfied BBQ flavour lovers and sceptics alike in our house. Crunchy chips, nice subtle tangy flavour. Quite delicious by themselves or with dip or salsa. I expect diehard BBQ flavour lovers would be disappointed by the subtle BBQ flavour, so perhaps should consider a rename. Wouldn't expect them to fare well if left for too long once the packet was opened, but very good and crunchy when first opened. Price point seems reasonable for the market at $3. 30 for the 200g packet, but I would wait for a special to purchase. Chip-Chip Hooray! These were great! We have really enjoyed everything we have sampled from the Organic range to date and these were no exception! The crunch was great and the round shape makes it easier to scoop up dip or salsa etc. We tried both with these and they tasted great. The only criticism we would have is that while the flavour was nice it was very subtle. It could have done with a little more. We are ok with plain flavours in Corn Chips and buy them regularly so no seasoning is fine with us, but if you are going to advertise a product as being Spicy BBQ you expect the flavour to be a little more present. Disappointing for MACRO. Ok so firstly I need to say that I usually LOVE Macro products and as I get older I am finding that I need to be more mindful of what I eat! I opened the packet and my first thought was that I could not smell cheese but was looking forward to tucking in as I usually LOVE corn chips and actually anything corn!!! I took my first bite and CRUNCH!!! I was excited for a moment …. But then oh no!! There was so little (tastes like there is none) cheese that it was like I was eating plain salted NOT cheese!! On closer inspection they have just 4% cheese - now I know that they are 70% less salt and 80% less fat than regular corn chips… but I feel that they have taken out so much salt and fat that it’s at the expense of the deliciousness to make people want to go back and buy them again Honestly I can’t see myself buying these again (unless I end up on a heart ❤️ smart diet maybe ) I will definitely buy the bbq !!! I normally have a few packets in my pantry and purchase extra when they are on special at my local WW store. I use corn chips to make nachos and I also use them ground up in my food processor as a crumb coating for chicken, fish and even steak. I have even used ground up corn chips in my meat loaf along with some mexican spices which I really enjoy. I had not tried the organic corn chips before and thought the spicy BBQ flavour would be interesting. I enjoyed the crunch of the corn chips and must admit I was expecting more flavour. Not sure where the spice was? I was excited to try these as a couple of weeks before I got the cheese flavoured ones and they were tasty but I was totally disappointed in these. First the package says spicy bbq I’m still waiting for the bbq to turn up and there was absolutely no spice. These were completely bland with no flavour and very crunchy and chunky corn chips it also said on the packaging new recipe they should have stuck to the old it might have had more flavour. Also the packaging was really hard to open I had to use scissors. Now for the positives I like that they were GF and certified organic and the percentage of Australian ingredients (72%) was better than expected. They also state 70% less salt than the average corn chip, 80% less sat fat, 70% less salt and 80% less saturated fat compared to the average of regular flavoured corn chips. They’re also stone ground which makes for a more natural, nutritious result. Now the not so good: For me, they weren’t cheesy enough, crispy enough or flavourful. I guess that’s the sacrifice they’ve made to create for a much healthier corn chip than the others. Per 100g these Macro Organic corn chips have 70mg of salt compared with 488mg in one popular brand. We tried these chips with a bean dish and with dips. The words 'New Recipe' in bold pink, 'Gluten Free' and 'Certified Organic' all grab my attention. Quite a large packet, however when you pick this foil lined bag up, you realise that although it's a nice 200g pack, there's no doubt alot of air! Served with left over Mexican inspired beef casserole and melted cheese, these were a quick, easy and delicious meal for a change. In particular, I love the size and thickness of these chips. Being round, you don't get the sharp corners some similar products have. With a nice crunch (without being too hard), I find them simple and easy to digest. A pleasing product that suited both youngsters and elderly too. Although they did soften very quickly with the moist toppings, it wasn't frowned up and made for easy eating by all. Supposedly, it is suggested there is 8 servings per pack of approximately 14 chips, ouch they're too good to count! Easy snacking on 2 at a time seems to be the pattern, however individually they're a nice size for dipping. Made with Australian corn kernals, no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives and yet a list of products such as varied powders that transforms these chips into an enjoyable occasional treat.
