Perfect for Hummus. I love this product because its just sesame seeds and nothing else and a big plus its organic. This simple is a product that can be used in so many different ways, for example dressings, dips, stir fry's, baking and a lot more. I tried this product on its own and added it to a beetroot and hummus dip. Its very thick but with a little muscle and stirring you can incorporate the oil on top and then this product is a lot easier to use. We all loved it and the kids LOVED the dip. It's a good size jar and will go a long way, will be used in multiple creations. I took one star off because I don't know were this product has come from, it's great it is organic but it doesn't specify were it was sourced. A Tahini Bit Please. Knowing Dr Bear has been working long hours like most doctors & nurses Ms Giraffe decided to make the Dr some tahini & banana bread, based upon the recipe on page 60 of March Fresh Ideas magazine. This will be a lovely surprise for him, she thought. Dr Bear quite enjoyed the gesture, but thought the bitter tahini spoilt the sweet banana cake. However he hasn’t had much to do with tahini before, but soon learnt the healthy fat benefits. But let’s be honest he isn’t likely to replace peanut butter on his toast with this stuff. It does make a nice change and would make a good dip at a BBQ. The taste is not offensive, just different to what he is use to. In a salad dressing would also work he was told by his receptionist. Price point this is ... MoreA Tahini Bit Please. Lovely addition to homemade salad dressings! I love sesame seeds and the flavour of sesame oil and other products so was keen to taste this. I added some to a homemade salad dressing of EVOO, fresh lemon juice, balsamic vinegar and a variety of herbs. It paired well with my beetroot and walnut salad. There was some oil build up at the top of the jar. I’ve found this with other items such as nut butter and the more expensive peanut spreads. I simply stirred the top portion of product until the oil was better incorporated. I can see however that this would put some people off. For example, I have had people tell me they think the cheaper peanut butters are healthier because there is no oil layer up the top of the jar (which is absurd but belief rules).
What the ??? First thing, noticed some gunk around the lid so cleaned it off. Then noticed that the lid looked as though it might of popped. Couldn't really tell as there was no noticeable way of telling. Checked out the label and ONCE AGAIN woolies, not Australian ingredients. Opened it up and gave it a stir as large amount of oil sitting on top. Have never tried it before but when I did, just could not believe this is a food group. Couldn't wait to brush my teeth and gargle. I would put the taste on par for pulling an olive off a tree and biting into it. Disgusting... straight in the bin. Never again...
An enjoyable lunchtime sandwich spread. For many years one of my favourite healthy lunches has been Tahini, Honey and Alfalfa sprouts on sourdough ryebread, though now sadly its homebaked GF high protein breads. Normally I would use the unhulled version of Tahini but thought of giving this hulled version a go. Ok then ... on opening there a the usual level of sesame oil that needs to be stirred back in before using and it seemed to me that this oil was easier to stir back through than the unhulled versions. Also for obvious reasons the colour of this hulled version is much lighter than the colour of the unhulled version. And the taste & texture? This hulled Macro Tahini has a yummy sesame seed taste albeit, IMHO, quite mild but then I think such a lighter taste ... MoreAn enjoyable lunchtime sandwich spread. This hulled Macro Tahini has a yummy sesame seed taste albeit, IMHO, quite mild but then I think such a lighter taste would suit those who prefer milder tastes or perhaps wish to blend into creamy dips or delicate sauces or even wanting their kids to try a new, healthy taste. Texture wise this hulled Macro Tahini was quite creamy and definitely not gritty like unhulled Tahini or excessively oily like some other hulled brands I have tried. Overall a healthy & tasty sesame seed product and readily adapatble as a spread, dip base or sauce addition. But for me I prefer the stronger sesame seed flavour of the unhulled versions for GF lunchtime sandwiches of Tahini, honey and alfalfa sprout not just because of the stronger taste but also because of it better needed laxative effect on my digestion.

Hulled sesame seeds from Ethiopia As the oils settle on top it’s advisable to give the contents a good stir before using. Thanks WW and Bunch for my sample. I do buy tahini occasionally but I don’t buy this brand.

Nice Tasting Tahini. I didn't get the Macro organic hulled tahini as a sample and have purchased it on a number of occasions. I've read some of the reviews and noticed that it's not a popular product. Probably for some, it's not something eaten by the spoonful like Nutella or peanut butter. But I prefer the mild, hulled, less bitter tahini brands. I use it in eggplant dishes, hummus, tahini dressing, added it to yoghurt dressing, delicious drizzled on medjool dates, sprinkled with cinnamon and roasted chopped almonds and hazelnuts.
Not that bad for first timer. Tahini - well that is something I have never tried before - 100% Sesame Seeds. Eager to get hold of it and last night, I followed a recipe from WW, making a potato salad. I must say it was an interesting taste and anyone who loves Sesame give it a go, while others may say Yuks and not wanting to try Tahini ever again, well you may have 2nd thoughts and try it with different recipes. For me I wont say it taste all that bad with this recipe. Hey it is 100% Sesame seed and organic with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Has 5 star health rating and made in Australia and price at $5. Bring to the boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 12-15 minutes or until just tender. Drain. Set aside to cool. Combine yoghurt, coriander, cumin, garlic, lemon juice, honey and tahini in a small bowl. Cut potatoes bite sizes and place in serving bowl. Add the dressing, mint, half the shallots and toss gently until combined. Season with salt & pepper. Break up prosciutto and place on top with remaining shallots. Opps, forgot to take a photo but it was tasty. Now to decide on the next recipe to use the half bottle balance I have.
