Meh, it's sugar. Really didn't expect much from this sample; I use raw sugar in my tea as it usually gives it a nice caramelly flavour (though I tend to use white sugar in coffee - just tastes better to me). I also use it instead of normal white sugar in bakingIt's organic, but there's no real obvious difference in taste; texture is a little finer than usual raw sugar, and slightly lighter in colourWhat I didn't like at all, was that it is packed in Australia from Brazilian sugar! What a load of unnecessary fuel usage, etc, just to have "organic" sugar to sell. Does Australia not produce organic sugar? Whether sugar is organic or not plays no part in whether I decide to purchase a product, so no, won't be buying this in future. I'll stick to Australian sugar

Fine Grain Raw Sugar. This Macro Organic Raw Sugar has a shelf price of $2. 55 for a 1kg bag. The grains of sugar are finer than other brands of raw sugar I have used previously, and it has a lovely colour, smell and taste when used. We used this sample when we made banana muffins and the sugar itself incorporated easily into the muffin batter. The kids sprinkled a bit over the top of each muffin which left a nice sweetness there after baking. This product has a Health Star Rating of 0. 5. The sugar itself is a product of Brazil and is packaged in Australia. The sugar is ACO Certified Organic, as well as being harvested from certified sustainable sugarcane. The packaging can be returned to store for recycling. I would be happy to buy this product again and recommend ... MoreFine Grain Raw Sugar. Dearer than regular but was very nice! I tried making @fairy-bread Lemon Yogurt Loaf but made as cupcakes to take to work. The recipe was quick and easy to follow and produced a light and moist textured cake Ty @fairy_bread for her recipe! I used my macro raw sugar but blitzed it first to make it a finer consistency! I can't say I noticed any difference in taste for the extra price! As this is packaged in Australia but produced in Brazil, it won't be a rebuy from me as I prefer to support Australian products! The quality of this is great and tastes nice but so is the regular one at half the cost!Ty. @bunchteam for the opportunity to try!Hugs to all my Bunchee friends! Your friend always Chef Penny

Sweet Enough. Sugar, sugarYou are my candy girlAnd you got me reviewing you… Price point:It is a reasonable price for an imported organic carbon footprint. However for a similar price, I could buy Australian sugar. Organic is not as important to me as country of origin. I would rather buy the Australian sugar for similar price. Country of origin: According to Google, Brazil is the world's top producer and exporter of sugarcane. According to Woolworths, Woolworths has an Australia first sourcing policy. Unfortunately this policy is for fresh fruit & vegetables. It does not include packaged items such as this product. Despite Queensland growing fantastic sugarcane, this product uses sugar grown in Brazil. Taste & use:I used this in coffee & a homemade chutney. Yes it ... MoreSweet Enough. Despite Queensland growing fantastic sugarcane, this product uses sugar grown in Brazil. Taste & use:I used this in coffee & a homemade chutney. Yes it tasted as expected and dissolved as expected. The granules are finer than other sugar brands. It was raw sugar so the only surprise is the ‘I’m a Celebrity’ health star rating. It’s half a star too much considering it’s raw sugar. Packaging:I liked the clear window and the plastic packaging. Unfortunately the packaging is one of those weird ‘return to store’I would have liked a resealable zip along the top and a simple recycle like usual. Joke:I visited the doctor today and he said my sugar was too high. So I came home and moved it to a lower shelf
Good organic option. Raw sugar is the sugar of choice in my household so I was interested in the difference between the Macro Organic Raw Sugar and the brand I usually buy. On opening what was immediately apparent was the difference in crystal size. The Macro Organic Raw Sugar is finer than my usual raw sugar, with the colour almost the same. I wasn't expecting there to be a difference in flavour, after all sugar is sugar, but there were differences. I set up a comparison test of my usual raw sugar and the Macro Organic Raw Sugar and found the Macro Organic Raw Sugar was more sophisticated with hints of caramel when eaten as it is. Though, in hot tea, I couldn't really tell the sugars apart. The Macro Organic Raw Sugar is ACO certified organic and Bonsucro sustainable sugar cane accredited, which are reassuring in terms of knowing that the product is ethical and sustainable for those who feel those aspects are important. However, if you are someone who is passionate about supporting Australian farmers, the Macro Organic Raw Sugar was grown in Brazil. Having researched organic Australian raw sugar, to achieve a standard of similar ethical and sustainable practice, organic certification and it being an Australian grown product would mean that the product would cost considerably more than the Macro Organic Raw Sugar costs. Another issue for me is the packaging. I would have liked to see an organic and sustainable sugar packaged in something other than plastic. There's really no reason why the Macro Organic Raw Sugar couldn't be packaged in paper, which I can put straight into my recycling. Would I buy it again? As I didn't really detect a huge difference in flavour when dissolved, I probably wouldn't use it for general cooking or tea. I do think it has a place in baking where the products are coated in sugar, due to its finer crystal size and delicious caramel flavour.
Good for baking. I had no trouble finding this at my local Woolworths store. I like to have raw sugar in the cupboard for baking cakes etc so this was handy to get. The packet was easy to open and I liked that there was the big sticker on the top, which I use to stick closed once I've finished using it. I don't know if that's the purpose of the sticker, but that's what I use it for. I use either caster sugar or raw sugar when I'm baking cakes or biscuits for the kids, but I like to think the raw sugar might be the healthier option. I baked some cookies using this raw sugar and no one in the family could taste the difference, even myself! As expected it had a 0. 5 health star rating, (I wouldn't expect much more from sugar) but it is ACO certified organic and is ... Unfortunately it's produced in Brazil but packed in Australia. This both surprised and disappointed me as I cannot understand why it wouldn't be produced in Australia, given Queensland produce sugar. At $2. 55 for 1kg it's a bit on the pricy side and I honestly can't taste the difference in the taste. My cookies turned out well though so if it was on special I might buy it again in the future. Thank you Bunch for giving me the opportunity to sample this product.
Nice grain and taste. I use raw sugar quite a bit in baked goods and hubby has spoonfuls of it on his cereal. I had to get in quick with this sample as Mr G was gobbling it down fast once I decanted it into the sugar pot. So I thought I would have a spoonful of sugar to try it in its raw state. It was actually really nice, the grains weren't too big and they dissolved in my mouth really well. So, if you need a spoonful of sugar to help your medicine go down .......... This Macro Organic Raw Sugar is priced only 5 cents more than my usual CSR raw sugar that is used in my baked goods. The Macro Certified Organic is $2. 55 kg. The only objective I have is that is imported from Brazil and packed here. So it loses a star for that reason. We have a country full of sugar ... MoreNice grain and taste. We have a country full of sugar so it doesn't really make sense with import costs that we don't have organic sugar here. The taste was definitely better and the quality was great so I would consider buying this organic sugar in the future but, I do feel more passionate about buying Aussie-made and packaged products.
As Sweet as the Rest. Sitting on the top shelf next to the other macro organic sugars in the baking aisle. The brown colour scheme on the label seems appropriate for raw sugar. The macro apple symbol frames a window to see the sugar inside. Well packed and sealed, peeled open the top edges of the bag to reveal crystals as fine as regular white sugar. The colour is a pale yellow. The reseal sticker didn't stay stuck for very long, but we usually keep open packs in a sealed container to maintain freshness and stop any spills in the pantry. Used this in a bundt cake instead of brown sugar and didn't notice any difference. It creamed well with the butter and the cake came out perfect and yummy. A similar price to the brand name at $2. 55. Although there are now many different sugars available which are suited for different uses, we're happy to use regular Woolworths sugar for most things.
Tastes Like Sugar! I haven't had raw sugar for years so I was happy to be reintroduced. I don't use sugar in hot drinks, just in cooking. I found the sugar in the aisle with other sugars, flour, etc. At $2. 55 for the 1kg bag, it is almost $1 more than the non-macro version of the Woolworths brand. The sugar is finer than I remember. I couldn't tell the difference between this sugar and any others I have used previously when added to baking. This product was good; however, I would buy the Essentials version as this is a product of Australia and is much cheaper. Thanks so much for the opportunity to try.
Sweeeeet sample. I like to use raw sugar over the more refined version. Raw sugar has molasses in it, hence the brown colour and some small quantities of minerals. White sugar has this refined out. I like the option of less manufactured food. In the case of the "Organic" sugar, the product farming method is the key. White sugar has the process of refining the molasses out and is grown using commercial herbicides and pesticides. For me I would rather the organic choice. The sugar is fine enough for what we use it for and tastes okay. Price point is not too much for the product. I give this 4 coffee's (with sugar) out of 5. Have to share this....
