I recently purchased the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad, primarily for the Touch ID function. After transitioning to a two-monitor dock system at work, I wanted to keep my MacBook Pro closed, but was frustrated by having to type my password every time to unlock it and enter usernames and passwords on websites. I tried using my Apple Watch for unlocking, but it didn't solve the issue of entering credentials for the websites I use daily. This keyboard has been a great solution. In terms of Feel, it does take some getting use to because the keyboard lies nearly flat instead of having a more pronounced angle. I haven't found a great comparable Brand to this one including options from Logitech. Close, but not enough. And yes, keep your Lightning Cable because you'll need it to Charge this keyboard.Would I recommend this keyboard? Even with the best typing experience I've ever had, I cannot. At this price point with no backlit keys is a deal breaker. A mistake that a Brand like Apple should not make.

The Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad is pretty neat for anyone using newer Macs with Apple silicon. It’s got a clean look, the keys feel great under your fingers, and having Touch ID is super handy for quick logins and authorizing purchases without needing a password every time. Plus, the numeric keypad is a bonus for anyone crunching numbers or working on spreadsheets. But, here's the kicker – if you're using an older iMac like I am, the Touch ID feature won't work, which is a real bummer. It feels like you're missing out on the full experience, especially when you've shelled out for what's supposed to be a top-notch keyboard. So, while it's a solid keyboard with lots to like, the Touch ID letdown for us with older Macs takes some of the shine off.
I purchased this keyboard a year and a half ago with high hopes for a reliable and long-lasting device. However, my experience has been marred by a significant issue with left shift button. Over time, it seems to have dropped down, resulting in a complete lack of tactile feedback and a noticeable absence of the satisfying click that usually accompanies a key press. Considering the price point and the relatively short period since my purchase, I expected better durability, especially for such an essential key. Unfortunately, the decline in performance, particularly with the left shift button, has left me questioning the overall quality of this product. I rely on a functional keyboard for work and personal use, and the current state of this device has negatively ... The Magic Keyboard with Touch ID for Mac is seriously amazing! It's like having a secret weapon for getting stuff done. I mean, Touch ID right on the keyboard? It's a total game-changer. No more typing in passwords every time you want to unlock your Mac – just a quick touch and you're in. And let me tell you, typing on this thing is a dream. The keys feel super smooth and responsive, so you can type away all day without missing a beat. Plus, it looks slick as heck on your desk. Seriously, it's like the cherry on top of your Mac setup. Whether you're a pro or just need a reliable keyboard for everyday stuff, the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID is where it's at. Trust me, once you try it, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it!
TouchID keyboard is nice to have. Not having to type passwords over and over, but rather just touch the sensor is nice. It's a Mac keyboard through and through. The feel isn't like your beloved IBM Model M, but for a modern keyboard, it's good. There is definitely an apple-tax applied here, and for the price the lack of backlighting on the keys is a bummer. I can type almost as fast on this as I can on a proper mechanical keyboard, so no issues there. It takes just a little bit of recalibration of typing pressure.Battery life is exceptional, and it paired immediately with my new Mac Studio (and should do the same on any M-series Apple Silicon Mac). Pretty much what one expects from Apple, with the glaring lack of backlighting on the keyboard and the price being the only things that are not great.
Firstly, the battery life is exceptional, and I have not had to charge it since I first got it. The keyboard is also incredibly responsive and connects with my computer instantly, which is a huge plus for me. The design is sleek and modern, and the silver finish perfectly complements my MacBook. The size of the keyboard is just right, and the spacing of the arrows makes it easy for me to program quickly and efficiently. I also appreciate the inclusion of the numeric keypad, which is crucial for my work in the office. I spilled some soda on my keyboard and ruined it so I went to Best Buy to get a replacement. The sales associate suggested this model because it also included a fingerprint scanner which I thought was great!I connected the keyboard and everything was great BUT the fingerprint scanner did not work with my iMac. My iMac is not too old at all and it was an expense 27" iMac desktop. After doing some research, I confirmed it was not compatible with my iMac! This was very disappointing!I could have definitely taken it back, however, I hung onto it as I did need a keyboard. I would just ask that the staff be better informed before quickly suggesting things and saying they will work when they are not compatible with some. I'm not upset, just a learning experience to ... I had to get a new keyboard that was Mac compatible out the box, and really hoped this was going to be worth the cost. It definitely has a much higher build quality than almost any other keyboard, including similarly priced gaming ones. And I love that it has Touch ID (which also works great, never had an issue). And it arguably has the fastest keystroke response time of any wireless keyboard I’ve ever tried. However, there are 2 cons that were just too big for me to keep it. First, the keyboard not only doesn’t have any height/angle adjustment, but the default is way too flat to type comfortably for extended periods of time. $30 keyboards have had this feature for decades. And second, I just can’t for the life of me understand why they would sell a keyboard - for ... Even if you don’t sit in complete darkness, it’s still nice to have. And again, cheaper keyboards have this, and even let you change the brightness.Ultimately, these were just too annoying for me to continue using it for 50+ hours a week. I got the Logitech MX Keyboard for Mac, which is $80 cheaper. It’s not just less expensive, it’s also a better product. So I unfortunately will be returning this.
