Initial impressions: I was sent the 2nd to lightest shade and the shade range definitely needs work on the lighter end at least. It's not that visible in the first pic, but it is about 3-4 shades too dark for me. I found that application was best when applied with the provided spong on the kinda fuzzy side. I was able to build it up to a meduim-full coverage and it layered well with itself. As for concealer, do not use a sponge if applying liquid concealer over top of this foundation, but I was surprised when I was able to blend my liquid concealer on top of this with my finger and nothing was patchy or moved! I think I'll stick to my usual powder foundation routine with doing concealer first and setting it, then applying the powder foundation to my face. It did move/got patchy when I did my nose contour (with powder) but was fine on my cheeks and forehead. It can look heavy, so do be careful with how much you apply, but I was able to get medium/full coverage without it looking too cakey. For light coverage, a brush worked well for me.Wear: It's far from waterproof and disappeared when my nose ran and it left visible marks when a few tears rolled down my cheeks today. For a powder, it did get oily fairly quickly and when I blotted it, a good amount came off my nose and left it patchy as well as a little bit on my forehead. At the end of a 12hr wear test it did just ok. The limit in my opinion is 8hrs without a good touch-up.Overall a good 6.5/10 for me.

These... are amazing!!! If you have oily skin these are for you. So many bad reviews and I cannot understand why unless you are using the wrong tools to apply this. I do not use the sponge unless I am doing a light blotting touch up through the day as emergency. A brush is much better. The key is to use a foundation brush. I use IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Complexion Perfection Brush #7 and it goes on perfectly. It doesn't look caked at all! It looks like natural flawless skin. A little goes along way. It covers pretty great but if there are any dark marks still showing (bc I have acne prone skin), I use a touch of make-forever concealer on top. Stays put and doesn't look like I'm even wearing makeup. Flawless! These are the best in the warmer months as it may be a ... MoreThese... are amazing!!! If you have oily skin these are for you. For the winter months I use this as a finisher over makeup forever's liquid foundation just to take some of the shine. Amazing amazing product will buy again!!!

I truly did not like powder foundation. Not after disastrous attempts to use them in my 20s to tame my ridiculous oil slick face. I’ve since learned better ways to care for my skin and as such, my skin behaves better. It also likely has something to do with aging. I’ve also learned more about the proper ways to pair primers with foundation. This is the really long way to say that I was far better prepared this go around. And I’m so glad that I received this! It’s changed my outlook on powders. I paired it with several primers top test; it does best with anything lightweight - I tried with both my ShapeTape hydrating and my Tula Brighten Up and both performed very well. I also used Armani luminous silk - it is a bit more of a “sticky” formula, so the powder did not spread evenly and was difficult to correct. The custom sponge is nice; there is a denser side and a more velvet side. The dense side is better for heavier application and the velvet side for lighter. Both performed as advertised. I think using similar makeup sponges would work with the same results, but it’s nice to have one included. It also advertises itself as a good finishing powder; I tried it this way as well with a powder brush. It also worked well. Would love to do a head to head test with my Laura Mercier setting powder to see who wins. Ultimately, this foundation lasted as long as my liquid foundations, applied evenly, corrected minor skin imperfections, and did not easily settle into lines and creases. It will be purchased once it runs out. 🥰

I have oily combination skin and love the way this foundation looks on my skin. It is great at smoothing texture and over my smaller pores. I only did one layer because I like more natural looking makeup looks. I did notice that it emphasized my dry patch on my nose, but from far away not really noticeable (please reference picture), however a good regular exfoliation routine should take care of that pre-application if you do have dry spots. Probably would not recommend if you have dry skin but that's not super unique for most powder foundations. It definitely has a light-medium buildable coverage and the shade 1Y08 is slightly lighter than my actual skin tone.I absolutely love the super soft sponge that comes in the compact, it was amazing at pressing the powder ... MoreI have oily combination skin and love the way this foundation looks on my skin. I have not yet tried the brush but it feels very soft and would highly recommendThe make up forever HD skin matte velvet foundation reminds me a lot of the loreal infallible 24 hour freshwear powder foundation that went viral a year ago. After trying both, I think I like the makeup forever a little bit more because it has a slightly smoother consistency, which gave a slightly smoother application. However if you are trying to save some money I feel like the loreal infallible is a good dupe.
After using this product for the first couple days I am super super happy with my results! I got this as a complimentary sample from influnster and let me tell you I'm beyond words happy I got choose to try it! I am not the one to wear a powder foundation (but let me tell you this has changed my mind) I have acne and acne scars with some dark spots on my face and with this you can barely see or tell they are even there! It's also hard to find my shade of color but this one matched perfect! I would highly recommend this product to anyone! It is light weight, barely any scent at all, and it works great on combination skin! Even on oily skin I think this would work perfectly for you! But I don't have that issue with this one) I would give a 100+ score and if I could give more then 5 stars I definitely would! Try it I promise it want disappoint and the price is well worth it! I love the fact it comes with a sponge to help put it on and the compact has a camera (love the fact I can store it in my pocket book & it doesn't take much room)
Purchased this because I'm on the hunt for a pressed powder foundation that is as good as the Aveda Dual Foundation I have used for 15 years (the company discontinued almost all makeup products). I like the convenience of having the applicator and product together, but after that I'm not impressed with this. I will get very oily throughout the day especially if I do not wear anything on my skin, but the Aveda foundation always controlled that for me, so I really only got shiny at the very end of the night. After prepping my skin like I always do, I applied this product and found the coverage to not be as full as I expected. I tried with setting spray and without and I was shiny within an hour of application. I also noticed oxidation, so the color of my face became darker and every pore was magnified. It might be just my skin as I'm seeing others have had luck with this one, but unfortunately, I will not be repurchasing. I need something with better oil control and coverage.
There are things I really liked about the HD Skin Matte Velvet 24 HR Blurring Powder Foundation that I received free from Makeup Forever and Influenster in exchange for my review, but there are also things that I don’t think lives up to the products claims.I have mature skin and a little rosacea, this product was not a good fit for me as a foundation powder. It did not create a good coverage and it did not last 24 hours. It did settle into fine lines and emphasize those lines, which is not a look I want. When wearing as a setting powder over facial serums and foundations, it worked ok. It still heavily settled into the fine lines but it did do a great job of creating a setting finish both with a brush and the applicator.I really like the case that the powder ... MoreThere are things I really liked about the HD Skin Matte Velvet 24 HR Blurring Powder Foundation that I received free from Makeup Forever and Influenster in exchange for my review, but there are also things that I don’t think lives up to the products claims.I have mature skin and a little rosacea, this product was not a good fit for me as a foundation powder. The compact is rectangular and feels substantial. The full size great mirror alone keeps this compact with me everywhere I go. The sponge that it comes with has two sides that are supposed to apply the powder differently, however I haven’t noticed a difference. So to summarize, it’s an okay powder for mature skin, if you use it as a setting powder. It does easily settle into fine lines and wrinkles, so go lighter in those areas. The compact itself is a great tool to your makeup bag.
I have a love/hate relationship with MUFE. by the time I find a product of theirs that I love, they change it. I have used the liquid HD foundation and I do like it, but I want more of a matt finish, so I found the Velvet Matte powder in the all black packaging and thought it looked and felt great on me in the shade R220 (same as the liquid) it was creamy and medium coverage, matte but not dry. It was great!I repurchased that formula 3 times because I liked the look it gave me even though the packaging itself was inconvenient and the product broke inside easily and it was a giant mess. I recently went into a local sephora shop to repurchase and found it has been reformulated. I purchased the new version in the stated equivalent color (R220 is now 1R02) and I do not ... MoreI have a love/hate relationship with MUFE. by the time I find a product of theirs that I love, they change it. I recently went into a local sephora shop to repurchase and found it has been reformulated. I purchased the new version in the stated equivalent color (R220 is now 1R02) and I do not like it. The color is an ok match but the new formula is no longer creamy and blendable, its now more chalky and seems to sit on top of my skin with less coverage than the pervious formula. This is an expensive product for it to be just like a sheer, dry drug store powder. The new formula doesn't cover or feel "velvety" like the old one. This feels too light and patchy. I will not be repurchasing this product.
The color I received was 102 and I probably should have received the shade lighter at 1N00, at least for the winter. This one draws a little more pinky than my skin tone, but shade wise matches great. They have a good selection of shades for all different skin tones, I just wish they had one lighter than 1N0O as that shade isn't light enough for my mother. That being said, usually they don't go light enough to even match my skin tone so well, so I'm very happy with that. The powder itself applies super well and looks pretty natural. It didn't absorb my face oils weird or shift around on my face. It stayed out and looked flawless all night. I usually use bare minerals loose powder foundation, but I may switch to this one for at least indoor use, as I'm not sure that ... MoreThe color I received was 102 and I probably should have received the shade lighter at 1N00, at least for the winter. I spent DECADES trying to find the best powder foundation and had finally found it with the previous version. I'm so bummed I didn't just repurchase several of that version before it was discontinued. I honestly didn't think this version would be so wrong for me. First, trying to order the same shade as I used in the previous version was impossible. I ended up chatting with a Sephora rep and was given what was supposedly the exact shade as the previous one, despite the whole shade range being completely different. You would think a brand would continue using the same shade range for all products despite it being a new product. Sadly, the shade the rep gave me was so wrong. I knew immediately upon opening it. I hate how the product would be discarded if I returned it ... MoreI spent DECADES trying to find the best powder foundation and had finally found it with the previous version. I hate how the product would be discarded if I returned it so had my 17 y/o try it. She is slightly darker than I am. It was too dark for her too but it could work for her if she spends more time out in the sun and gets a tan. I ended up trying again to repurchase in a shade I thought would be equivalent to the previous version. It's a better shade match, but I still don't care for this new product. It's chalky and makes it completely obvious I'm wearing powder foundation. The previous version blending into my skin perfectly and looked flawless. I'm 41 y/o and have spent the first 35 yrs of my life being stupid and never wearing sunscreen. I would literally go to the tanning bed every day and then go to the pool or lake immediately after during my teenage years. Needless to say, I am now the miserable owner of way too many wrinkles and tons of sun damage from the GA and FL sun. This new version does nothing bit excentuate all my pore, wrinkles, and sun damage. I wish they would bring bad the previous version since so many have also found this new one completely wrong for themselves.
