Makita DHP484Z Cordless Impact Drill
The Makita DHP484Z cordless impact drill uses the battery capacity even more efficiently than with conventional electric motors by using a BL (Brushless) motor. The 2-speed all-metal planetary transmission shifts between 500 rpm or 2,000 rpm and 7,500 beats/min or 30,000 beats/min. The quick-action drill chuck for one-handed operation and spindle lock enables quick tool changes. Darker working areas are no problem, because the bright LED brings light even to the darkest corners. In the area of safety, the DHP484Z cordless impact wrench features a motor brake and XPT (eXtreme Protection Technology), which protects it from dust and splash water.

Great drill. bought to replace the last one which has helped refit a boat over the last 3 years & had so much epoxy/fibreglass smothered all over it, you can barely change the settings. When this one goes, i'll buy the same again. Had the lighter duty drills, and actually had to throw the last one into water as it got too hot to hold & set on fire. This drill is up to the job.Brushless, lithium and heavy duty. Only drill to buy in my opinion.

This drill is well designed. It is compact, lightweight, fast and powerful. When loading the toolbox to go out on a job, I've noticed a tendency to leave my old impact driver, heavy combi drill and drill driver behind and just grab this one. It is very responsive and accomplishes all that I ask of it with little effort on my part. But surprisingly for Makita it developed a little fault. When drilling only mode was selected and a little pressure applied, it began to slip in and out of hammer action, although it was still set to drilling mode. I found this off putting, for instance when trying to drill a smooth hole in wood with a forstner bit.I called Axminster who provided excellent after sales service. They contacted Makita and the drill was collected for free ... MoreThis drill is well designed. It is compact, lightweight, fast and powerful. Unfortunately the fault returned a few weeks later but once again Axminster was most helpful and this time the drill came back in just 3 days. And so far, all is well.

Solid feeling but not heavy. Nice smooth trigger action, not over-sprung. Wanted a change up for ages away from larger non-metal gearbox combi. Why did l wait so long!

Fantastic drill, powerful and light. My last one lasted for 9 years, that is with a lot of use, almost every day. In my mind, highly recommended.
This is a very nice combi drill - light and powerful. The brushless motor is very powerful and gives a lot of use from a single battery charge. The worklight is a very useful addition.
Quality drill with loads of power pair it with the 4 ah battery and it's brilliant. It's got a bit of weight to it but in a good way so it feels sturdy. Been using it all day today with no problems. Delivered quick and at a good price.
Excellent, didn't realise how knackered my old drill was till switching over to this. Fits in well with the rest of lxt stuff, nice and light weight. First job was drilling into steel plates to mount a new roller shutter to replace one that had packed in. Handled it with ease. Even had to drill out a stuck bolt but coped easily. Used it and a makita impact driver to them build a new stud wall, no issues whatsoever.
Early days yet, but this seems to be a tough bit of kit.I bought it based on other’s reviews and on the Makita rep.The chuck seems to need a deal more tightening than my previous drill, but that’s no big deal.It seems to have quite a low draw on the battery, and the interchangeability of Makita batteries means that if you have a second battery, you never need to stop work for a recharge. So far so good.
This is the best battery powered drill I have ever used and at the price is unbeatable. Good for small sized hammer drilling and lovely as a screw driver which is where I shall use it the most. More than enough torque to do what I want and for a battery powered tool it's excellent. Highly recommended. I would buy it again without doubt! There is one other brushless model (DHP-481) with more torque but it's a bit too powerful for my needs.
