Makita 18V LED Work Light Skin DML801

Great item if you have Makita batteries for other tools. Long working time, but there are brighter out there if you need it. Swivel head and pivot help to get the light to any angle you need, and with the hook and strap you can hang it almost anywhere. No magnetic option though as too heavy with battery fitted. All in a great work light.

Nice bright and adaptable torch, compatible with LXT 18v batteries. The switch is very sensitive but straightforward to use once you get used to it. Typical Makita build quality and functionality.I've given it 4 out of 5 stars purely on value for money. Don't get me wrong, it's a quality item but quite expensive for a torch with no battery!

Makita DML801 LED Torch

Brilliant piece of kit! Would highly recommend it. Like all Makita tools build quality is strong and durable, and LEDS are super bright. Along with the hook and twisting neck you can get it into really tight spots, where you need the light most!

NOT TO MUCH BRIGHT

The lamp looks ok, but the light on its own IS NOT BRIGHT like other cheaper lamps. Not even the first click which is the brighter is not too bright, so if you are looking for a bright light get another one. I had a cheaper hyper tough light that was much brighter

Phenomenal versatility and positioning

I have 3 of these, after discovering how versatile the positioning of the light is, I had to buy two more!! This design is almost perfect for any place to hang or rest. I nearly never waste time doing a review. This light beats ANY BRAND on the market HANDS DOWN, for versatile positioning including its newer battery version. THE ONLY improvements I would suggest are moving the on button to the base, (hand held it flickers the light), more positive snap keep for the hook it wears out and disengages allowing the hook to catch on things unwanted, add a flat surface with a strong magnet to stick to metal surfaces.

Versatile and useful

I tried Lidl and some pound shop LED lights but they were all extremely annoying and the LIDL one I connected the wrong type of charger and it stopped charging. The really good bit with this torch is that it will go on for hours on a semi charged 3Ah battery. And then you just swap the battery rather than wait for your "portable" light to charge hooked into a socket. You can stand it on the floor or attach it and hang it off the ceiling and the swivel head is brilliant you can almost always put it at an angle you want. It's very bright almost too bright sometimes but it can be dimmed if necessary. The price was right and I use it quite often for a variety of tasks. I'd definitely recommend it.

Very good but expensive

It's quite expensive for what it is. It's good quality Makita product. I've used it for 7 hours straight and it didn't get too hot, unlike other cheaper lights. I also dropped it a couple of times and nothing happened to it. My only complaint is that for such a high price, it's not very bright. I have cheaper unbranded chinese lights that are brighter. So it's quite expensive for what it is, but it's solid quality. There are better more affordable alternatives. I only bought it because I have few extra makita batteries and I wanted to make use of them.

Very useful for close work.

This is a very useful bit of kit for working on the car, or working doing almost any job. If you have plenty of spare batteries all you need is a bare light. I don't know how long the battery will last but I would imagine compared with a power tool it should last many hours. Its good if you are working close to a job but using it as a light for walking down the garden its not quite as bright as I thought. I would recommend this for any DIY project. That's why I gave it 4 stars not 5 the only reason was it was not as bright looking long range as I thought. really it would be 4.5 stars.

a very good light

you can use this light for around 17 hours, not too many lights last that long on a charge, as this light does not get hot, when so many other light get hot, they drain the battery down quickly. The only negative issue, wishing it had a strong magnet to hang by.
