Probably the least well made Makita tool. I have to replace these yearly for site work, as they are cheap I treat them as a consumable and expect to replace annually. I imagine they would be fine for diy or occasional site use. On the plus side, they are light and smaller than most 18v multitools including later Makita models which are too bulky. I like the bolt fixing, opens up a bigger selection of blades.

Needed to treat myself to multi tool got a while and already saved me loads of time on jobs after 2 weeksOnly shame is it’s Allen key to lock blade inThe other ones I’ve used have a nice little button but already got the makita set so we will see

Not a long term review, but seems usual Makita quality so I have no concerns there. Nicely rubberised, and the work light is very useful (unlike the newer DTM51 which doesn't have one). Not "quick change", but it only takes moments anyway with the on-board hex key storage.Lost a star on value for money due to price compared to the newer model, but that's probably because I'm not the only one prioritising the light over quick change.

Great multi-tool.Simple and effect.Hex/wrench mechanism is not an issue for day to day jobs. Might become a chore for a tradesperson.Fits all accessories.
Good, basic tool. I bought this to supplement a mains powered unit I already own. If you have other Makita 18V tools this is very good value for money. It needs a hex key (supplied and stored on the tool) to attach the blades and sanding units. Vibration is low and the speed wheel works well. If you need a 'quick release' tool then spend a little more money for its (slightly) more expensive twin.
Great value for a cordless oscillating tool which is a handy piece of equipment. You can buy alternatives with more features, like tool less tool change, but they tend to cost quite a lot more money. How much do you need more features? If you have one of these tools in your hand every day then perhaps it would be worth the additional expense.
This review is not just for the Makita multi tool but first and foremost for Powertoolmate. I find them to be the cheapest online and their service, communication and delivery speed is excellent. I have many 18v cordless Makita tools and they never disappoint. Long lasting, tough, sturdy, ergonomic with the obvious benefit of sharing the same high quality Makita batteries. I recommend the multitool, its quite chunky to hold but handles all the jobs I throw at it and it invaluable for the things I use it for most, namely chasing channels in plasterboard when fitting kitchens and undercutting architrave when fitting laminate flooring. Powertoolmate is now my go to place for cordless Makita tools without wasting valuable timing googling the cheapest supplier. Nice job
Neat tool and extremely versatile. I recommend registering for 3 year warranty as I've had a couple that the blade holder has gone out of alignment but Makita repaired for free under the warranty. The only improvement would be to have a screw hole on the battery mount to fit the belt hook used on the makita drill.
Bought recently to assist in some home DIY in the bathroom to remove tiles. Haven't got around to that but have used to cut a hole in the wall to repair damaged plasterboard. Didn't take long to master. Really easy to swap between the different tools would definitely recommend.
This multi tool works great however it is flawed in design in how to attach the blades to the tool way to time consuming to be using an Allen key and nut with the addition of different rings to accept different blades.Looks like the engineers took the easy lazy way out in this tool design compared to there competitors. My whole tool crib is Makita but I would not purchase this tool as there are so many better designed ones available if it had not been included as a free bare tool I would have not purchased this for the reason I have indicated.
