I am rating this a 2 star because 1- Did not meet expectations, assumed this shipped with a battery. I am not a handy man and did not understand Tool Only. If I bought a vacuum cleaner I would have expected all pieces would be included. For Makita equipment, this is called a Tool, this vacuum cleaner, without battery is classified as a Tool. 2- The package did not come in the original box, but a make shift inside out original box. 3- the title, in my oppinion should have stated Battery and Charger not included. 4- To buy a battery and charger would be 3x what I would pay for a standard vacuum cleaner.

I already own one of these vacuums and it is great! I have a dog that sheds and this tool picks up hair faster and easier than sweeping. Plus the normal leaves and small debris that gets tracked in. The battery lasts long enough for me to vacuum three large hard floor rooms at least two times. A battery takes 20 to 30 minutes to recharge. It is small enough to store in a small spot in the closet. My husband uses one on his commercial job sites for small quick cleanups. I am buying another one as a Christmas gift for my daughter. The only con is it doesn't work as well on carpet, it will pick up some, but for hard floors, it is great.
All the Makita equipment that I have is excellent. There isn't one I would change. To me Makita stands for value. You pay once and then that's it.... Just use it again and again and again. It's better by design.

Going to buy my daughter one for her new house for Christmas.
