This 230mm Angle Grinder from Makita features the soft-start system whereby the powerful 2400W motor drive will build up speed gradually irrespective of trigger depression. This reduces the torque kick on start up, a further safety feature. The maximum no load speed is 6600rpm. The machine has a rotatable rear handle that can be positioned to suit most cutting and grinding operations (90 degrees R/L). Both the rear and side handle use vibration reduction technology. The side handle uses a low vibration grip and the main rear handle is effectively separated from the motor body by a pivot fulcrum and rubber damper system. When the grinder is being used, vibration is transmitted into the rear handle but with the new handle system, the pressure from the operator on the handle makes it pivot on the fulcrum, which engages the rubber damper, thus absorbing the vibration before it reaches the grip area. It has zig-zag varnish on the armature coil and protective powder varnish on the field coil with vent slots designed to minimise dust entrance.
