Underpowered for a 300W motor, and burnt out 2 months outside of the short 2 year warranty.

I did research this product - a well as other brands and this one had the specs I was looking for -. for what I want the Makita 125mm Random Orbital sander is excellent.

Not very powerful but then not sure it needs to be. Slows down when using coarser paper. Still did what it needed to though

Excellent sander it does everything I need. not to noisy, quite light and comfortable to hold very little vibration. I've connected it straight to my dust extraction unit. Very pleased with it.
Nice and powerful. Not the best on the market (I'd rather have a Mirka!) but better than the quarter sheet sanders. Needs to be used with decent sanding discs to get the best finish.
Excellent tool for the money. Well built with a long substantial cable. Very easy to hold on different positions (the removable handle is a handy featute when you need it) so you won't get hand fatigue. The vibration is very low as well. The dust collection bag is OKish but not enough in my opinion and you need an extra adapter for your dust collection system.. Paired with a mirka pad saver, mirka sanding disks and an adapter for my shop vac the tool is outstanding. It produces a great surface finish and when you run your hand on the sanded surface there is hardly any dust on it.
Surprised to see "made in the USA" written on it, not sure why that isn't worth a mention in the description? Build quality and ergonomics both quite good, and it seems at least 50% more powerful than an old made in Japan Ryobi 200w orbital that is now destined for the nature strip. The Makita is my first 'random' orbital, and it's a night and day difference compared to a regular orbital! Stock removal is great, no swirl marks, quite good life from the discs (the grit doesn't really clog up at all), speed control works quite well - you can turn it right down. The stack of discs that came with it are actually quite good, probably better than the flexovit bulk pack I bought with it. Even without a vacuum hooked up to it, you don't get a while lot of dust (for small ... MoreSurprised to see "made in the USA" written on it, not sure why that isn't worth a mention in the description? The stack of discs that came with it are actually quite good, probably better than the flexovit bulk pack I bought with it. Even without a vacuum hooked up to it, you don't get a while lot of dust (for small jobs at least) as it seems to pull a pretty good vacuum thru the dust holes and into the little filter cartridge. Doesn't hold much, but it's effective, and comes good with a bang, a shake and a blow out.
Great quality, just what you would expect from Makita. With enough power to get the job done without being overly heavy. Variable speed. For a mid range tool it's definitely worth the cost.
Light, powerful and very comfortable to use. The adjustable handle is a great idea and if you plug into vacuum, its virtually dust-free in use - esp. with mesh backed pads.
I have always liked Makita products and up to now this does'nt disappoint, but as for it lasting, we will see. But it handles very well. I will invest in a car polishing set and see how that works, very pleased.
