Great if you do not have power. If you have power the 240V grinder will kill this in terms of performance with sheer grinding and cutting performance. The battery grinder just can not compare if you have a serious job to do. But hey, for convenience if you have a small job to do they are great because you don't have to get out the lead etc, etc. I used a 5Ah battery and it lasted 11mins for heavy continuous grinding. I repeated the test a couple of times and yes, 11mins per battery is what you get. You can do a lot of grinding in 11mins. I use these battery grinders all the time. I hope this helps.

Makita 9 inch grinder is not that's cracked up to be I would recommend to anyone to get the corded version as this cordless one run as out of charge very quick the 4.5 inch grinder I have not used yet so can to comment as of yet

Surprised how well this battery grinder works. Bought to do the occasional grinding job when no mains supply was available. In fact it is fast, powerful and a 5Amphr battery lasts very well considering this performance. Have used it much more than expected even in the workshop. Tend to only use a mains grinder for lengthy jobs or for the convenience of having a cutting disk and grinding disk or wire brush available at the same time.
Makita is an outstanding brand and this Angle Grinder (125mm) is the business. it's a great weight and feels comfortable in your hand as it's not too heavy. As a do-it-yourself guy I appreciate the quality and design that goes into tradesman tools and Makita is one of the best.

I bought one of these to replace the 4 1/2 makita cordless model that given up. The new grinder is much smoother, more powerful and despite its increased size more comfortable to use. There is a handy battery monitor ands the guard can be easily adjusted without getting out a screwdriver. The biggest benefit is the brushless motor which will mean that the brushes which were the cause of failure on the previous model can't be an issue again. A genuine alternative to a corded model, makes the old makita cordless grinder seem a bit of a toy. Great service from Axminster Nuneaton as always.
