Small yet adequate sized base for most of our needs. I’ve built my own larger bases using plexiglass for larger jig work. We have 6 of these, each with a different bit and base for their specific task. Best professional tool for the job

Great little trim router, just as powerful as the corded version (1 1/4 HP) but no cord to worry about. You can adjust the speed to suit for harder and softer woods. I have just been using roundover and chamfer bits so far. It has a long enough run time with 5 Ah battery for finishing my home DIY projects such as shelves, tables and cabinets.The micro-adjustment for depth is quite loose but can be tightened if needed. The baseplate opening is about 1 1/8 inch so might not fit larger bits fully.

I really enjoy using this Makita trim router. For me it's about control and how a trim router feels in my hand. I own a Dewalt DWP611 and fight with it more than the Makita, I also find it more difficult to setup. The Makita is slowly becoming my goto trim router.

The Makita entry level cordless router is great for DIY useage. With a homemade jig, makes excellent dadoes...just be careful to stop using it when the battery is going. Major loss in power. Best cordless router for the price. I have a Milwaukee 18v Fuel and it is no better than this Makita. The Makita runs smoother. It is amazing what a man can do with such a small and powerful router. I have read concerns that the bit depth adjustment is not accurate - but it is not true. The only concern is that the base it comes is very small in diameter and the router tips over when working on a side profile. I put a larger wooden base - and now it is fine
For me ive used my new replacement router just a few times over the past couple of weeks, it is well made, robust and is well capable of doing what you need it to do, ive even put it under a little stress by taking a deeper cut which it shown no problems of coping. Im well pleased with my purchase.
Brilliant bit of kit and another addition to the rest of my LXT cordless tools.Versatile and quite adaptable.Currently it is getting used daily carrying out composite repairs on aircraft interiors (B777, B787) where pneumatic tools cannot be used (no access to airlines)I have a second unit at home and have married it up with Makitas plunge base which I am using along with some Rockler sign making stencils.
