Very impressed with this circular saw.I bought it to replace a similar DeWalt saw and upon first use I instantly noticed the improvement in quality, this Makita is capable of a deeper cut than the DeWalt eventhough they both use the same size blade.I particularly like the electronic brake and the LED work light.Dust is ejected to the side and not all over you (like the DeWalt!)Adjustments to the soleplate for cutting depth an bevel cuts can be achieved quickly without using any tools - it's just a little 1/4 turn lever for each.Very well designed.

Ive been looking at these small circular saws for a little while. Normally I'm a Bosh Blue man although have a range of Makita too. This has a much better spect than the Bosh blue equivalent and just a tenner more you get automatic brake and led light which is great for folling your line.Ive been chopping up 12mm ply all week with this and its so steady on a line no snatching or sticking and the guild rail does not drag like some others I've tried in the past. The excellent quality of Makita bearings hold the blade true no wandering clean straight cut every time.Glad I went for this one. You will be too

My cousin had a Dewalt trim saw that I really liked so I wanted to get one for my Makita collection. It was very frustrating to find this model because it is not readily available, and I had to really dig to find it and then order it in. It wasn't cheap but it came in a couple days and it was worth all the hassle. It ripped through plywood and 2x8's like a hot knife through butter. It is SUPER light weight and easy to handle for finicky jobs and where I don't want to lug out the big corded saw, and I expect to get a lot of use out of it. It is more powerful and lighter weight than the Dewalt I had tried previously. In general I find Makita tools to be powerful and reliable and the batteries charge very quickly. My only criticism to Makita/ hardware stores is perhaps ... MoreMy cousin had a Dewalt trim saw that I really liked so I wanted to get one for my Makita collection. Excellent. Good size. Just what everyone needs in their toolkit. Light and so handy. Cuts beautifully and very pleased with my new toy!
Considerably lighter than the 165mm version. Perfect for CLS and sheet material, so it's a very useful item on site. Cut is very accurate and it plugs into dust extraction no problem. The stock blade didn't last long, happily Axminster's 136mm blade is a great substitute. It's not the quietest and it defintely needs at least a 5aH battery, better have a few of them if you're on it all day. I would say if you can live with the slightly smaller cut depth then this is a great alternative the 165mm.
I opted for this device over the larger, 150mm unit due to the light weight, led light and the blower. All of these positively impact on the performance, but one disadvantage, for me at least, is that the blade is on the right. This means that, being right handed, I can’t see the blade during use, and have to rely on the zero mark for my guidance. My old saw had two marks, so it was easy to gauge progress of the blade, but it’s not so easy with this device. That said, the Makita is built superbly, with little kickback and the electronic brake stops the blade almost immediately. I am sure that I will soon become familiar with the cut, but for the moment, I wish I’d paid more heed to the reviews, spent an extra fiver and bought a unit with the blade on the left.
I would describe myself a professional DIYer, I teach DT in a school so use tools day in and out and then spend the weekends using tools in my workshop at homw. I have got an 10 ish year old plug in Dewalt circular saw that has always done what I want. The school holidays just gone I had ordered loads of material to do quite a few jobs around my house, garden and workshop.So... I have been developing my collection of 18v LXT tools, I couldn't justify the cost of the plunge saw that I really fancied so went for this one. My main reason was that I rarely cut more than 44mm wood so this saw would happily deal with it and the fact that I could use it without the need to plug it in!I have used this for so many jobs and each task I did with it is was simply amazing. I have made a spacer out of an offcut and I put this on the mark I want to cut, put a speed square up against it. Remove the spacer and cut away using the speed square as a fence. Doing this on a scrap piece of wood has been so successful I didn't even bother to get out my mitre saw.
The saw is a good weight and well balanced even with the 5ah battery fitted. The 3 year extended warranty adds extra peace of mind, although the saw lives up to Makita's excellent build quality. The usual excellent service for Axminster tools with quick delivery.
As a new customer to Makita I must say that I was more than just pleased with this purchase. I live in the highlands of Scotland and delivery often takes much longer to arrive but, this order arrived super quick in just 3 days, delivery up here normally takes up to a week or more. The packaging was brilliant, I must say, there was no unnecessary plastic bags or fillers, just recyclable cardboard that hugged the Saw in place. There were no staples in the packaging at all which made breaking down the packaging for recycling flawless and simple. As I opened the box I was greeted with a sheet of all the tools available from Makita, I was drooling, I never knew there were so many different tool available. There were no staples in the packaging at all which made breaking down the packaging for recycling flawless and simple. As I opened the box I was greeted with a sheet of all the tools available from Makita, I was drooling, I never knew there were so many different tool available. The very second I pulled out the saw from the box I felt the sold quality of the saw. It was easy to hold, light and it gave me the instant feeling of assurance, if that makes sense. When I tried it for the first time it blew me away. The power, the accuracy and that feeling you get from a solid feeling power tool. Instantly this saw was a new friend.I had the same experience when I opened the box for the Drill and Drill Driver. Same ingenious packaging and these cam in a great case. The case was solid and well-built with a compartment on the outside for all my screws and bits, very handy, and when closing the compartment it closed so firmly and assuringly I knew there would be nothing falling lout of it. Both the drill and Drill Driver came with a battery and a charger. The drill is really nice and well balanced and has a handy light that comes on every time it’s used making, it a lot easier to see when working in those dark corners. The Drill Driver is awesome! What appears to be a smaller drill is a hugely powerful driver even when down to the last drips of power. It has to experienced in order to full appreciate the shear power of this driver, really reassuring feeling to it.The entire kit of a drill and drill driver, a case, a charger, 2 batteries and a circular saw was just under £300 all together with free delivery. Impressed? I certainly am! If anyone is thinking of buying these tools, I would say go for it and be assured you will be getting some serious kit.I mulled over so many other makes of these tools for several days, not knowing what to buy for so much choice out there but, I am so pleased I chose these, worth every penny
It's lightweight very easy to use, comes with a saw blade too which is a bonus. This tool is a must for Roofers when installing battens, it cuts through a 2 x 1 like a knife through butter, it's quicker than a hand saw and saves lots of time. A brilliant purchase, value for money. This will serve me for all my future roof work. You can't beat a Makita.
