Like everything Makita makes, the machine is well made. IT IS VERY HEAVY. I needed a machine to work raw logs. This was not the right machine for that. I made several passes over the log and NOTHING. If it was mounted on a table, it could be useful, but cannot work on rough surfaces. If you already have run a log through a saw, I suspect it would work very well. It has a very long electrical cord, which works in its favor. I would only recommend this product if you are processing large amounts of raw timber that has been sawed. For my purposes, it was not as useful as my battery powered AEG planer.
