Very powerful yet lightweight tool that makes short work of sawing metal livestock panels into shorter pieces. Any brand and type of blade that works with a Sawsall will work in this tool. The lighter, more compact size makes it more versatile than a regular Sawsall and less tireing to operate.

Gets in tight spaces. Easy trigger switch. Quick easy blade changes.

This configuration balances accessibility against leverage- the old long-body style vs a short body that will fit between studs. IMHO, accessibility wins. Lighting looks good. Batteries can be a little hard to insert and remove. Shoe is not adjustable. There's a little notch in the handle when you pull the trigger back all the way. If your finger is against the underside of the handle, it'll get pinched when you release the trigger,- the cure is to smooth the edge of the notch with a Dremel or the like. Don't know if it's just my tool or a problem with the design.

Light weight but powerful. Glad I bought it. Much easier to use than my big Makita saws all. Longer battery life with the brushless motor. I highly recommend any 18v brushless tool. I dm switching to all brushless now. More power and better battery life.
This was a present for my son, who has been raving about it - said he managed to cut a piece of steel about 10 times faster than an angle grinder
What an excellent value. The perfect size reciprocating saw when you dont need the heavier, longer, larger sized size which have their place, but this can get in places they cant. And for me, the price is unbeatable
I like that it is smaller and I can use it as a limber on the small branches that clutter up a large branch on my apple tree. It works really well because of the shorter stroke and I can wield it one handed. It handles blades up to 6/7 inches fine longer than that I like to use my regular sawzall two handed. Good purchase for me.
As always makita feels great in the hands. This reciprocating saw does the job in small tight spaces. Idk the difference between this regular green and black vs the makita sub compact all black saw but I assume they are the same and that one is just a newer version. I love makita + milwaukee tools
I'm a trade professional. This is a very good tool. Compact light weight easley fits in tight spaces. Also has good power with 5amp battery. Would absolutely recommend.
Seemed to work fine at first, but after using it just a bit it appeared to jam, like the transmission was binding. Tried to start the blade, but the 5.0Ah battery would kick off on an overload. Swapped batteries to a freshly charged 3.0Ah without the overload protection and it worked fine. As far as the saw itself, it seems to be a nice "in-between" size, not as big and heavy as my full-size recips, not as small and light-duty as my little ones. We'll have to wait and see if it continues to jam and kick out the batteries during use...
