i bought this tripod to replace a 10 year old tripod with a ball head. So glad I did. I used to think I would not like a pan/tilt head but recently started to change my mind after realizing that I was silently complaining to myself about using the ball head every time I used it. I have now found that I much more prefer the control I have using a pan/tilt head. The tripod itself is also much easier to use than my old one. The old one uses twisting locks for the legs. I find that I prefer the flip style locks on this tripod more. There is also the added benefit that the MK190XPRO legs allow for a taller setting and the horizontal center post allows for a much more easily achieved lower position.

I'm very impressed with this combined tripod and head. This was bought as an upgrade and is exactly what I was looking for with still life photography in mind. It's solid as a rock and the head is very easy to adjust. The head and tripod combined are more than 3kg in weight so it's not light but the quality shines through. There is real attention to detail, with small things like a hook for hanging bags, a movable spirit level on the tripod, the friction controls on the head, etc all adding up to an impressive whole.

I feel like it would hold me upright if I asked it to!

Long exposures, long lenses. The tripod is sturdy and stable, and the X-Pro head is a joy, although tbh I'm still developing my technique with it.

Problem after a year and a half

I use this tripod daily for real estate and I love its sturdiness and ease of adjustability. The knobs for the tilt and level are great. I can adjust them with great speed and accuracy, and the bubble levels are perfectly placed. My only complaint is the pan adjustment. In the beginning it was fine. I could adjust the tension and control pans fairly well. IT would also lock up nicely without too much pressure. However, after about a year, the pans gradually became a bit jumpy, as though the added friction was not evenly distributed around the vertical post.A couple months ago, tightening the pan control knob made for a very rough panning experience. Im waiting for a callback from Manfrotto.

Solid, as always, Manfrotto

Great little tripod! I’ve owned the earlier version of the 190xpro and currently have the 055xprob. Loving the new locking mechanisms, but wish it went to the height and was as sturdy as the 055, but is just isn’t meant to be. I believe it can go lower, it is more compact, but honestly feels heavier; may just be in the head. The precision of the the 3-way head is unmatched! I love my 324cr pistol grip, but both have some major qualities and advantages to each style! For the price, this tripod is a steal!

Solved every tripod problem I have ever had
20 June 2017

I am so in love it is silly. Sure, it's heavy, but I don't care. I shoot video for YouTube which provides me with some income, so that's fun. I am shooting with a Canon 80D that has an extra battery pack, a zoom lens, and Rode shotgun mic. My rig is pretty heavy. The manfrotto tripod easily handles the weight of my camera rig and then some. The diversity of positions that this tripod offers lets me carry it anywhere on my farm (where I typically shoot) and set it up in the weirdest of positions to capture that really interesting b-roll. I could not be happier.

Very Versatile
13 April 2014

This tripod/head kit works great for fine adjustments and stability when taking pictures of stills and macros. It's versatility allows me to get it into various placement positions especially for flowers. I use an old camera strap attatched to the tripods loop hook to carry it around as it is heavy. The weight is a plus for stability. The 3 way tilt head has smooth operation with adjustable tension for ease of operation and a quick release that is very secure. This is a wonderful tripod kit well worth the money.

Very good tripod

I was amazingly surprised after the first use. Sturdy, easy to use and solid. The legs are strong and their release is very easy.I would suggest the addition of geared moviment for the central column for more precise precise height adjustments.

[Rewarded Review] A well made tripod easy to use and setup
9 June 2021

I replaced an old tripod because of the difficulty I had putting the camera on an off it. I was surprised at the difference in a really good tripod could make, it is much more secure and easy to adjust. I would recommend this tripod to anyone considering a tripod. I am convinced that this is the last tripod that I will ever need.

[Rewarded Review] The Tripod I've Always Wanted

I purchased the MK190XPRO4 for three reasons: 1) sturdy camera mount; 2) center shaft that can be adjusted to horizontal position; and, 3) 3-way, pan/tilt head with quick release plate.Let's begin with the tripod legs. It is very sturdy even when its legs are fully extended and at extreme leg angles, which is exactly what I'm looking for. It's heavier than I anticipated but I don't mind because it makes for a sturdy mount for my camera and gear. Based on the cost of other tripod heads I've seen, this one is a great value. And it works well with my heavy camera. If you cannot afford a $600+ tripod but need one that can handle most in-studio and nature / landscape photography, the MK190PRO is for you.

The 190XPRO4 is a super-compact 4-section aluminium tripod with advanced features and excellent build quality. The key feature of the 190XPRO4 is its 90 Degree center column mechanism, which allows the column to be extended vertically as normal, or horizontally. The horizontal column mechanism is housed within the tripod’s top casting for compactness, but it is easily and quickly extended whenever you need it. Switching between vertical and horizontal column orientation requires no disassembly, and can even be done with a camera attached. The 4-section legs of the 190XPRO4 tripod make it extremely compact: together with the height saving of the new horizontal column mechanism, 4-section legs help to reduce the closed length of this tripod by 16cm compared to preceding 190 models – a boon for any travelling photographer. The legs are also fast to extend and adjust, thanks to the Quick Power Lock levers that block and unblock each leg section. The special design of the QPL levers allows a single-handed grip of the leg locks. A bubble level is built in to the top of the center column for precise framing. The bubble level rotates freely around the Centre column, so it can be positioned wherever it’s easiest for you to see it. The X-PRO 3-Way Head has retractable levers which make it ultra-compact, and also features new friction controls on the portrait and tilt axes, to help balance the weight of camera equipment so that fine framing adjustments can be made with the locking knobs open, only locking everything down once the shot is ready.
