Excellent very steady tripod. There is no material covering of the legs to make it easier to carry extended on your shoulder so I cannibalised this from an old tripod. The clips for loosening the legs to extend them are a bit vicious and I wonder how long they will last. There are 3 clips per leg (2 on my old tripod) so it is more difficult to reduce the length to get into my car. My old Manfrotto tripod lasted 20 years though it was having a lot of problems in recent months and had become very unsteady. A very pleasing buy, recommended to me by other birdwatchers.

Absolutely Love This Tripod! ...

I've wanted one of these for years, as my older Carbon Fiber tripod is almost the same exact model, except it's the PRO3, which is taller when folded up to pack. And to think, I saved around $200.00 with B&H's recent sale special of this model. When I seen how much it was going to cost me, I immediately jumped at this model!I absolutely love the shorter profile when traveling, pack packing, etc. It makes it much easier to pack/attach it to my backpacks!Thanks B&H!

Excellent Tripod

I am a pro photographer Commercial / Industrial & Advertising and have been carrying around a heavy tripod for years so thought I'd have a change. Decided to buy the Manfrotto MTOCXPRO4 tripod mainly for its weight and size. As it's carbon fibre It's quite light to carry around, really compact and will fit in to a Pelli case1600 or an airline overhead case (without a head attached). It's sturdy even at full height and the QPL system makes it quick to use. The horizontal column mechanism is a good feature but you may need to use a counterweight if fully extended,(there is a hook). The build quality is great so it will take a good few knocks. I also bought the Manfrotto 229 Super Pro Head which again is great. Good tripod, poor response from Manfrotto if problems

This is a great tripod. It had everything I wanted. Short enough to fit in my checked luggage, light enough to carry around, tall enough for me (6ft tall+). Only, the second time I pulled the center column up, the plastic rotator collar snapped. It still works, but it is hard to put back to the vertical position. I would have returned this tripod to BH, but it looked like a part that could be replaced fairly easily, so I tried going through Manfrotto warranty support. I've sent two emails through their website in the last week with no response back yet. I'm hoping someone there might see this. I'm ready to just return it and go with Three legged Thing. Great Tripod w/ wish I knews

Absolutely love the tripod. The range on the legs is amazing and I love the head it came with. It is buttery smooth. It is rock solid and handles my R7 with a big lenese and also my camcorder with teleprompter and tablet. The center piece going 90 is great. All locks and latches are well made. I really like the secondary lock on the release plate on the head. It's like 2FA for taking your camera off.Things I wish I knew ahead of time:No carrying handel and legs will spread when carrying unless you tighten them, then they are harder to spread.A bag is not included and had to purchase after the fact. I got the manfrotto that is sized for it, which is nice, but would have been nicer to be included given the price of the setup.I would by again, and get the bag ... MoreAbsolutely love the tripod. Highly Recommend this product

Bought this to replace my previous one, which is pretty much warn out with over 10 years of continuous use. Think there's been some improvement in the design with the locking levers and it does what it says it does. Can easily hold my 150-600 mm lens and my EOS 7DMk2. Definitely a good purchase for the money.

Just a pure delight!

My decision to treat myself to a bit of engineering luxurywas based on the progression of my arthritic joints from shoulder to fingertips. The Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripodreplaced an old monster. That old cast iron and aluminum rig bowed out gracefully and is now gathering dust.I'll think of a good nickname for the Manfrotto with the matching ball head. It will NOT be 'monster' but something much more affectionate.The controls are easy on the fingers, they hold mighty tight when set, and the versatile flip to horizontal has a learning curve just fitting my 77 year old joints ~ so remarkably easy it is! Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4 Carbon Fibre Tripod 4 Section

Having owned several tripods, over many years, I decided to purchase a, "top of the range," one to replace my old models. I researched which tripod to buy, decided upon the Manfrotto 55CXPRO04 Carbon Fibre type, bought it, and it does everything that I want it to do. It is a versatile, well engineered product using modern materials in manufacture. The only down side is its cost, but, as they say, you have to pay for the best, also, it does not come with a head. So, if you buy this product, you will have to determine which tripod head is best for you - yet another expense - but, for me, the result is an excellent piece of kit that will serve me for many years.

Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4 Professional Light Weight Multipurpose Tripod ... Excellent!!

A terrific lighter weight tripod ... still very stable. Manfrotto has made several improvements since I purchased my 055XPROB 10 yrs ago. Both are amazingly versatile. For a professional photographer, I need a tripod with the ability to hold a large (heavy) camera and lens.

Wears too easily

If you're a professional photographer, and use this tripod heavily.. I'd avoid purchasing this. The carbon fiber down the center column started to split after just a couple months. I'd expect to have a long lasting tripod at this price, as well as how easily the screws loosen on the legs. Never again..
