Dust the white Barium powder from puffer bottle on the moist paste. The white powder dusted on the paste, changes colour within a minute. Compare the colour change on paste with the colour chart provided to the nearest colour and read the pH value. Wash both plate and mixing rod thoroughly after each test to avoid cross contamination.

I bought this at the same time as an electronic tester. I have a chemistry degree so this appealed to me more than a gadget, but after trying this I found it hard to read the colour with reliability - kept getting different results. Compared to the electronic one that you just stick into the soil this was a lot more fiddly

Thanks to my newly purchased Soil pH Test Kit should have good healthy plants and no failures. Instructions are easy to follow. I have found having the correct soil is so important to successful planting. I now always test the soils prior to planting and have the appropriate levels for that particular plant.

I moved to a new state so not familiar with soil ph and wanted to make sure the plants I had in mind were suited. The kit is easy to use, has clear instructions and gives an almost instant result. Luckily for me the soil ph was in the right range for rhododendrons. There’s ample ingredients in the kit for multiple tests too. The only way this kit might pose problems is if you’re colour blind or have a vision impairment, as you have to match the result against colour chart. Apart from that I can’t fault it.

It did not work for me. The powder was difficult to express, solidifying behind the nozzle, requiring tapping bottle downward. Several attempts with different paste consistency reveal the same result. Whitish powder with perhaps a slight purple tinge, ie ill defined. Went out and purchased a ph meter, testing was simple and quick, revealing the soil to be acidic 5-6. Much quicker to test other soils areas, revealing one alkaline area. Test kit purple was way out. Get a ph meter simpler, easier and cheaper. Positive points. Instructions and kit well presented.
Bought this purely for my lawn pH to ensure optimal standards and efficacy of fertiliser and additives. Good quick results and provides me that confidence to apply other product. Beware of stock levels in store. I was horribly stuffed around by indifferent service at the Acacia Ridge store and went to 3 stores before I found it, even though online they say they are ‘in stock’.

Used this test kit at a range of areas in my garden. It is quick and easy to use and fast to get results. It told me my garden was too acidic and retesting after garden lime showed I was back in the best range. Does what it says on the box and allows many tests.
The product was user friendly and came with clear instructions and a well made pH colour chart and board. However, the caps on the bottles are not very good quality, and has resulted in leakages and spills. Otherwise, appears to be of good quality. I have so far only had it react to pH of between 6.5-7.5, and I would like to see it react to soils of a lower and higher pH to test it fully.
