I went for the Marantz on shop recommendation because I don’t have a large CD collection and the CD6007 gets a lot of good reviews on reliable and sound.I’m a vinyl guy at heart and just wanted something that would fits my system at a reasonable price. My old CD player had packed in after years.So I tuck a chance on the Marantz after testing 1-2 makes out.Well I must say it’s surprised me actually how good it feels in the build quality and seems really well made also the sound quality is probably hard to believe and beat at this price point.Fit in with my Rega Elex-r AMP Rega P8 and Focal Aria speakers nicely.Must admit I wasn’t expecting it to sound as good as its turned out to sound ? Adequate replacement

I bought this unit as a replacement for a mint condition (external) but old and wine damaged Technics CD Player. It fits well with my other Technics seperates but the sound quality is slightly "different" and the Amp has to be turned up higher to get a similar volume to my previous set up.Access to playing a certain track via the buttons on the unit isn't possible or as easy as my previous CD player but it is possible via the remote control. I knew it wasn't i-pod compatible (which is a massive shame) but my old i-pod shuffle seemed to work via the USB slot. However it selected (very) random tracks (initially) and decided to play sometimes the same 1, 5, 2 ,4 (number of tracks - not track numbers) or part of a song before it switched off!? Surely it should play or not - not make it's own rules up? From a Memory Stick, it plays fine but as i said navigating between albums and/or seperate files/songs is quite difficult. It is fine if there is maybe just one album or you want to just play everything on the memory stick without trying to select something out of sequence. It should be useful for listening to downloaded music which could easily be transferred from a PC onto a USB stick/device. It's early days and I'm quite happy with the CD player in general, the (slightly different) sound, looks etc but navigating around anything via the USB appears to be a dark art!

An excellent upgrade, worth every penny

I bought a CD6007 to replace my venerable Marantz CD5400 (bought from RS years ago) and an even older external DAC.I knew it would sound better, but I wasn't expecting it to be SO much better!The machine is solidly built and impressively heavy, and the transport operates slickly and very quietly.Considering that CD technical standards were set in stone some 40 years ago, it is amazing how much more information newer technology manages to extract from these old 16 bit 44.1kHz discs and how much better this makes them sound. Just copy them to a memory stick and plug it in the front.Just two minor downsides: the two-line front panel display can be a bit clunky when navigating files and folders on a USB device (the answer is to keep the file structure as simple as possible), and the large Marantz system remote control contains a lot of extra buttons which can be a bit confusing if you're only using it for the CD6007.Overall, the CD6007 is worth every penny, not to mention the free 6-year warranty.Thanks to the RS staff at Southampton for their usual excellent service.

Got me back into playing cds again

After using my last cd player years ago I fell into what some might call the trap of convenience and listening to poor quality digital music for some years. About two years ago I got back into playing vinyl with a decent deck and powered speakers. A friend let me borrow his 15 year old Sony cd player and after listening to this with my fairly large cd collection from years ago ready to be played this got me thinking of upping the sound quality and investing in my own new cd player. Hence the purchase of the Matantz cd-6007. It is sn excellent well built and quality cd player. Music sounds great again and I can enjoy my collection of cds once more. Did a bit of research first and this player came out to me the best sounding player and bargain less than £500.

Great sound and performance for the price.

I bought this unit after my Marantz CD65 -bought in 1988 - finally stopped working. It was quite expensive in its day and one of the best mid priced units. I liked the reviews of my new CD6007 as well as the fact that it has its own headphone socket. I haven’t been disappointed. The sound is warm and rounded, ideal for someone like me who plays mainly classical music. The rest of my system is old but I’ve had no problems pairing it with my Quad amplifier and KEF Concerto speakers. The remote control is a boon for an oldie like me. If this unit continues to perform as well and last as long as the previous one I’ll be delighted.

The only problem was I had nothing to play them on - not even in the car.Having had a pm7000n amp for my turntable, I decided to take the plunge and buy thr cd6007 not only for the aesthetics, but also based on the positive reviews I found pretty much everywhere .After deliberating for weeks and putting in off the inevitable I dropped by my local Richer Sounds and was delighted to find they had one in stock.A quick 5 minute plug in and moments later I was back in the 90’s only this time the sound was better than ever .Could I stream these , yes . But do I get to own the music, read the little booklets - no.Delighted with my purchase . Marantz CD6007 CD Player

This Marantz CD6007 is part of an update for several components in my system. It’s running through a new Anthem AVR (also from UA) and I’m very pleased with the results. The CD exhibits the typical (expected) Marantz build integrity. The controls are simple and straightforward and easy to use. Overall aesthetics are tastefully understated which I appreciate. Audio quality is excellent (I use a Telarc Digital CD organist Michael Murray rendition of Bach’s Tocatta and Fugue in D minor played on the organ at the First Congregational Church in Los Angeles. The transients and organ bass pipes will test any component and system. The Marantz unit performs admirably to this listeners ears. Highly recommend. The staff UA are knowledgeable and the purchase transaction was smooth.

Marvellous Marantz

I needed a new CD player when my 1996 Technics (bought from RS) wouldn't stop jumping, though don't think it owed me anything! I have hundreds of CDs and with my vinyl l am a hard copy junkie still. Examined the reviews from What Hifi and others which clearly pointed to Marantz 6007. Bought from RS (reliable and trusted) arrived the next day in the allocated time slot. l think it is excellent piece of kit. I was surprised how much sharper the sound through my 26 year old amp MS speakers. Easy to use solidly made. The RS reviews that identified a too complex remote are valid, though l am sure if my 26 year old Technics amp gives up the ghost, it would be very useful with a new Marantz amp. Because of market trends over the past years, where streaming and downloading music from the internet seems to have taken precedence over collecting CDs, I have neglected having a separate CD player for some time.While upgrading my system recently, I decided to get a new CD player and revert to playing more CDs, of which I have dozens.So, I purchased the Marantz CD6007 a few weeks ago, and I am over the moon with it.The CD6007 is a great addition to the system, sitting well next to my new Marantz PM7000N amplifier. I haven’t tried this though.To sum up, if you are a CD die hard like me, then the CD6007 is a great option. I just know that it is going to give me a lot of pleasure now and in the years to come.

After 20+ years of faithful service my old cd player, brought from Richer Sounds London Bridge, finally conked out. Online reviews recommended this as a good budget player. Most of my listening is on vinyl so I was reluctant to spend too much. I'm glad I brought this, it's transformed some of the cds that I've been listening to for years, the sound quality is fantastic. Only two minor gripes, the red stand-by light is constantly on once plugged in and using the USB function seems to be a palaver, I'm still figuring it out. To be honest I didn't even know about the USB so it's no big deal, but you may want to consider this if you intend using it. Otherwise this is fantastic.
