I purchased this amp and its sister CD player to replace my Arcam R8 amp and Kenwood DP- 3080 CD player, hoping for a small upgrade in sound. What I got was exceptional. Playing Fleetwood Mac Tango in the Night on CD, I was immediately impressed by the clarity of every instrument and in particular the finish of every note down to the last vibration. The stereo arch is also a wonder, being able to pick up the positioning of every instrument and vocal and being able to focus on any individual part if so wished. The overall sound is just a fantastic experience and on albums I am very familiar with I am discovering previously unheard sounds. With a good pair of speakers this is one of the best amps I have ever come across. An absolute steal at this price.

I have had this for about 3 years. Mainly used as main living room amp for cable and my Pro-Ject turntable. This thing is plenty powerful and has no issues with anything, even some really old JBLs. I usually use some dual 8 references and I never turn volume over 10oclock, and it’s a decent size room. Aside from being loud, the quality and clarity of the sound is great. The direct source option is awesome amd the 2 added filter for optical add some depth to the sound. This is just as good, if not better than integrated amps at nearly twice the price. Lives up to the marantz name. Very happy about this purchase and will continue to buy Marantz products.

Having gone back to vinyl and having bought a turntable from Richer Sounds, I decided to stop using my old Sherwood amp and buy a new amplifier. When I took the box off dpd I was suprised at how heavy the amp was. Being a pensioner I have always associated heaviness in electronics with quality. Five minutes to connect up to my audio-techinca turntable and my Bowen & Wilkinson speakers. Very impressed with the sound as I was not sure 45 Watts per channel would really put it out. The sound was bright and punchy. I preferred the direct input button on slightly, better sound and response but very little in either setting. I know I compare an AV Receiver with a stereo amplifier but everybody told me "You don't need a stereo Amplifier, the receiver has a pretty good DAC". I'm so glad I didn't listen to them. I played a song to my Denon, and in the middle of the song I switched to the Marantz PM6007. And the sound comes alive. When the Receiver plays the song it's like I put a blanket on the speaker. But when I switch to Marantz - it's like I remove the blanket, the sound becomes more alive, more crystalline, and spatial. After owing the Marantz PM6004 some years back, I insisted I would never buy Marantz again after it became faulty a month after the standard 2 year warranty had run out, and after Marantz refused to help fix it. So I went back to my vintage Pioneer A-605R amp instead.Then, I noticed this Boxing Day sale item that I couldn't refuse, especially as it came with a 6 year warranty included in the price. And what a difference it has made to my listening pleasure. No wonder KEF used Marantz amplification when introducing their new Q series speakers back in 2010. It is paired with QA Concept 20 speakers wired with Cambridge Symphony 400 cable and an Onkyo C7030 CD player (from RH) which again gives a pleasant enough sound reproduction. I got a free 6 year warranty with this purchase as a VIP member.

I've mostly been playiing CDs since my recent Marantz purchases and I'm very pleased with the audio quality delivered. All extraneous noise has been eliminated and the optical inputs have enabled me to reduce the tangle of cables in the corner of my loungeChannel separation has improved and individual instruments seem to stand out more. However, it may be that having invested in my new hi-fi components, i'm simply listening more intently!I'm using my ancient but very good Logitech Harmony One remote to control my TV and audio equipment and so the Marantz remotes have been put in a cupboard to add to my growing collection of unused remote controls.The only minor quibble that I have is that whilst the amplifier has two optical input sockets, the Marantz remote has but a single optical source select button which also serves to toggle between the two inputs. Hence, similarly my Logitech remote allows me to select 'the source as optical as part of an activity but it isn't always the correct option.
