Awesome new toy

Pretty solid receiver/ processor! One con is that The subwoofer doesn’t play when using stereo mode, but the Bowers and Wilkins are brought to life and the subwoofer isn’t missed that much. I recommend that you purchase Audioquest bi wired cables, Panamax power conditioner/ surge protector, and an aircom cooling system. I damaged my other unit due to overheating!! The dreaded red flashing light . Cost a lot to fix ! Nevertheless, this is a great receiver with a ton of power and watching movies in my theater couldn’t be any better rt now for moment ( wanted components: av8805, mm8077 &mm7055) this is awesome as is !

Defective Sub1 port.
31 October 2022

Purchased the receiver in September, picked it up at Best Buy end of September. Geek Squad installed in October, along with other components. Overall, the receiver performs well, except when I have two subs connected, sub one makes a continuous and annoying rattling noise that only stops if I shut it off or lower the volume to zero. Tried different RCA sub cables, swapped the SVS sub, switched Sub 2 to sub 1 port on the receiver and the noise is constant. Thinking of returning it to best buy... Not happy.

Great First Experience with Marantz

This replaces an Onkyo TX-NR3030. The only thing i think I'll miss about the Onkyo is that it had XLR pre-outs for the left and right channels which i had hooked up to an external amp. So far i don't think i will miss them. I'll mention some of the input sources for those who may be researching this AVR.The setup of this unit was reallt easy using the guided on-screen commands. Audyssey setup took about 15 minutes and it does make a noticeable difference, really impressed. The option to have 2 presets for the speaker configuration is really handy. I have one preset for two channel stereo listening and the 2nd preset is for the 7.2.4 movie listening. All of the ground speakers are Definitive Technology and I plan to replace the four ceiling speakers with Def Tech's as well soon. The remote is very basic, but the Marantz remote app for IOS is very useful. This is my first experience with HEOS and it's been great so far. It was nice to see that I can stream TIDAL using the HEOS app.I'm not a gamer, so the HDMI 2.1 Panasonic chip issue does not really bother me and i didn't purchase the SR8015 with gaming in mind. PS5 really has no issue and there is a work around for newer XBOX'x. Even though there is a work around for the new gaming consoles, Marantz has already acknowledged the issue and has stated they are working on a permanent solution. Which i was glad to see and am looking forward to.For those who may be researching this AVR and wondering how well various sources work with it, this is what's currently used as inputs and outputs:eARC works very well when viewing and listening to the various streaming apps from a LG CX OLED. Full Dolby Atmos comes through. For those wondering about placement, this weighs about 40 pounds and i have it on the bottom shelf of an entertainment console that has tempered glass as a shelf. I'm not worried about the weight because the Onkyo weighed 49 pounds and sat on the same shelf for 7 years. The back is open, not enclosed and there is about two inches of clearance at the top.I'm still tweaking all the settings, but even with just the settings I've made so far it sounds great and handles all the switching wonderfully. I'm new to Marantz and i like the experience so far.

Great music amp and avr

I first bought the 6015 but then returned that for the 8015. I installed an 11.1 speaker setup for this amp, with 7.1 monitor audio speakers and .4 Cambridge audio ceiling speakers. I run with a lg cx tv. I have it set up differently to what I expected, I plug my consoles and boxes into the tv and then use e-arc to the amp. As opposed to having the consoles plugged into the amp. This method I think works best, dolby atmos works fine from both tv apps, and passed through via the tv from the xbox on blu ray or a game. And you get the low latency high frame rate gaming. I have a medium sized room, prob to small really for 11.1 speakers ;) the rear speakers are pretty close together. Does it sound good? I have a medium sized room, prob to small really for 11.1 speakers ;) the rear speakers are pretty close together. Does it sound good? Yes it does, it is also very loud in stereo, it is also amazing listening to tidal through the tv app with the dolby atmos music. This is the main reason to buy the amp, its the best for this kind of music. Kraftwerk 3d is worth it alone... But its not perfect .. dolby atmos from the lg cx tidal app to the amp, is not gapless. I do not know if this is an amp thing, a tidal thing or a tv thing. But that is not great on sgt pepper for example. Also when listening to dolby atmos tracks most of them can only get to 'loud' not very loud. Which I think I was expecting a bit more for the top of the range model in my sized living room. If you had a very large cinema room or new york loft style living room I think you would want to add extra power if you want rave volume levels. For normal people it will be more than fine, just not rave level in atmos mode. The remote is not the best, it could be a more premium thing, but I rarely use it, I use the tv remote or the app which does the job but could also be a bit better. I also find Heos a little clunky, you can't for example listen to tidal atmos tracks in this way. You need to use the tv app which can't be controlled with your phone, so searching etc is not great. I really like the aesthetics, I have the silver version and I do not think there is a better looking avr. Its great to have the small screen and minimal look sat under the tv, but then I can open the panel for more info and to plug extra equipment in easily. I love all the features and geeking out but once setup it is pretty easy to use for other members of the family. They turn the tv on, the amp comes on, the volume is controlled from the tv nicely etc, it can be invisible in that regard. I think it does miss having fm and am radio like the American version. Nice to be able to have that integrated for when the Internet breaks for example. You can attach a tuner or a small device to the front so not a big deal but could just be built in. I like the fact it is made in Japan rather than a sweat shop in china or elsewhere. In conclusion I think it is the best avr for people who listen to a lot of music and will enjoy 3d music that sits nicely in a living room. Other amps are ugly with less features. For movies and games it fab to listen to, but it excels with music. You can add many analog sources and well as the modern digital experiences such as alexa and atmos music.

OMG! Still experimenting with set up. It does EVERYTHING. You won’t find a better all in one solution anywhere. I was going to go with separates which I realize is the way to go for a real audiophile experience but I watch a lot of movies in my time off and listen to music constantly and on a small budget this AVR so far exceeds all my expectations. Plenty of power, vast amount of controls and plays every format. Hooked up to my wireless in seconds, Bluetooth works flawlessly. A child could do initial setup. SVS Pinnicles and SB 3000 sub sound insane. I bought a component fan sits on top but the unit really doesn’t run that hot. Hot should absolutely be vented but not crazy. LOOKS fantastic. I also read reviews that Marantz needs a facelift ascetically, you judge I think it perfect. Copper bottom toroidal amp and connections for wides, sides , ceiling and atmos 2 subs, phono preamp forget about it! You cannot buy separates , at least not my standard for 3100$, so the SR8015 solved all my issues! I’m not a gamer but there is 8K in ,2 outs and there is a software update coming that is future forward for gamers. Unit is insane spring for it!

Just WOW! incredible detail and the surround effect was almost too much (I am an Iraqi Freedom Vet). The picture quality is very crisp and clear and awesome as well with the 4K from the movie and even regular DirecTV shows are good. This receiver has filled in what was missing from my old one and definitely worth the price. You will love this receiver for sure and won't be disappointed!

Only ONE 8k/4k@120Hz Input
27 August 2023

The product is perfectly fine, however, I bought it after reading this was THE receiver to get for gaming consoles because it supported 8k/4k@120Hz. Unfortunately, I didn't do my due diligence and found that only 1 input supports it. The newer Cinema series appear to have more inputs that support 8k/4k@120Hz. The price tag on this unit and with newer versions with more features out leads to me not recommending this unit anymore.
