I bought this 2 weeks ago from RS Bristol, to replace old Bose Sound Link that doesn't have Bluetooth connection, in one word it is amazing. I use it with Bluetooth from my Android phone playing music from Spotify. The sound is fantastic way better than the Bose it replacef, and gets better the more I run it in. I love the separate bass and treble buttons which allows you to fine tune to your own preference. Tried several others in store Sonos and Audio Pro addon C3 no comparison in my opinion. Only small gripe is that it is wired so can't use outside in bad weather. However seeing as I am going to be using it in my man cave where I have power, it isn't an issue for me. Excellent service from Mark and the team in Bristol branch. Great Bluetooth Speaker
22 November 2019

I love this new speaker! First of all, I think these are cool looking speakers. They look just like a mini version of the big Marshall Amps & Speakers you would see on stage at a rock concert. It's a very nice looking speaker. However, more importantly than how it looks is how it sounds. The sound is very impressive, especially for a speaker of this size. I ran it through the paces by playing a variety of genres and types of music - rock, acoustic, loud, soft, female and male singers, instrumental, etc. It sounded great for everything I played. I am especially partial to heavy bass. For the size of speaker this is, I was very impressed by the bass I get out of it. I am especially partial to heavy bass. For the size of speaker this is, I was very impressed by the bass I get out of it. Don't get me wrong, the bass isn't going to compete with a large speaker system or subwoofer, but for a small Bluetooth bookshelf sized speaker, this has some of the best bass I've heard, at high or low volumes. There is a Marshall App that you download to complete walking you through the setup. Connection to Bluetooth was very quick and easy and it maintains a good connection around my house. The App allows you to automatically download the latest updates to the speaker. The App is also where you pull up the manual and you can do things like connect multiple Marshall speakers for stereo sound, and dim or brighten the LED lights. However, my favorite part of the App is the equalizer. There is a 5 band equalizer that allows you to select a number of preset settings for various genres of music or you can also set up your own custom settings. I love to play with the equalizer as that is where you can adjust things to the way you like to listen to music. One thing to note is how to find these settings. When you first connect, the App shows you all Marshall speakers you have connected. I looked in all the menus and clicked on everything I could see and I could not find the additional settings such as the equalizer and LED controls anywhere. I finally went back to the App store and read a review that said the App used to show some dots to the far right side of the screen next to each speaker connected, but apparently the last App update removed those dots. However, just click on the far right side of the screen next to your speaker and it still pulls up the extra settings. That solved my problem and causes no ongoing issue, but they need to fix that piece of the App as you wouldn't know this if you didn't read about it somewhere.Aside from using the App, one other nice feature of these speakers is the manual control knobs on the actual speakers. If you don't want to mess with the App or the phone to control the speaker, there are manual controls that allow you to control volume, bass level, treble level, power on/off, play & pause, skip tracks, fast forward and reverse and switch between Bluetooth and the auxiliary jack. I will probably tend to control most of these things with my phone via a Bluetooth connection, but it is a nice feature you don't always find on Bluetooth speakers, especially the bass and treble controls. It could come in more handy if I have connected a device via the auxiliary jack.Overall I am very happy with the sound, look and functionality of this speaker!

I really like this Speaker
5 July 2023

The sound science on this speaker is a little lacking, and apparently they've fixed it with the Action 3. With that said, it's still a major upgrade to the bluetooth speaker I was using before. The EQ nobs allow me to tune the speaker to compensate for it's off default tuning most of the time, and the newer bluetooth standard is much better than the old one I had been using. All in all it's been a wonderful upgrade to my life. The thing looks amazing and has a great form factor for a side table or desk. Buying an open box was perfect for me, seeing as how I as able to save 50% off buying the newer Action 3 that is replacing it. And buying from Best Buy was soooo easy! Oh, and the startup/connected sound on Marshall's products is so fun. I really like everything about the aesthetics of their speakers. They're making the user experience pretty great.

Love this speaker
13 June 2022

I researched this speaker for months. I was attracted to the fact that Marshall used to (maybe they still do?) make guitar amps, so I trusted that the sound from this speaker would be great. I was looking at several different places to order this speaker but the White colorway was sold out everywhere even on the official Marshall website. I was more than pleased that Nordstrom had this speaker in White. Aesthetically, the speaker is beautiful with a retro design. You can adjust the volume, bass, and treble using the knobs on top of the speaker. The knobs feel very solid and turn easily and smoothly. or you can use the dedicated app and adjust the sound that way as well as set it up with different musical genres. I am very happy with my purchase

OUTSTANDING Speaker For Smaller Rooms!
18 March 2019

I have owned a Marshall Stanmore since it first hit the shelves and I am still getting compliments on it to this day and it fills our living room / kitchen (open concept home) with awesome sound. Now that I am semi-retired (ugh, don't know if that is a good thing or not yet), I have more time to catch up with the stack of books I have been meaning to read but I need music in my library. I HAVE to have music when I read, been that way since high school (I could just run the music through my head and what I was reading at the time would come back to me).I initially thought about switching out the Acton II for the Stanmore because it has all the latest bells and whistles but after doing some A-B testing of the two, the Acton II can't fill our living room / kitchen ... MoreI have owned a Marshall Stanmore since it first hit the shelves and I am still getting compliments on it to this day and it fills our living room / kitchen (open concept home) with awesome sound. I HAVE to have music when I read, been that way since high school (I could just run the music through my head and what I was reading at the time would come back to me).I initially thought about switching out the Acton II for the Stanmore because it has all the latest bells and whistles but after doing some A-B testing of the two, the Acton II can't fill our living room / kitchen area with nearly enough sound as the Stanmore. That isn't necessarily surprising since the Acton II is much smaller, but audio engineers have done some pretty impressive things with speakers and headphones these days. With that being said, the Acton II is PHENOMENAL in my library, which is a much smaller room with lower ceilings. Setting it up so that the rear of the speaker faces a corner (like you do with a subwoofer in an entertainment system) really brings out an impressive amount of bass from this thing. I know that saying it is in my library probably brings up thoughts of classical music but really I'm reading to 70's & 80's rock. When I get sick of my own playlists from my phone I can switch to Amazon Music via Alexa to play whatever I'm in the mood for at that time. The only knock I can really give to the Acton II is that the microphone isn't nearly as good at picking up my requests as those in some of the dedicated Alexa items. Sometimes it states that it 'seems like I'm whispering but it thinks I asked for....', and it is usually correct but it is a bit of a delay that can be annoying at times. Trust me, I am not whispering, but perhaps it's placement in relation to my recliner isn't the best so it may not be all the speaker's fault.I know they bill this as a multi-room system, but since I only have one of these and my Stanmore doesn't have that functionality, I can't really speak to that functionality. Hmmmm.... maybe I need to convince the wife to let me upgrade that to a Stanmore II!All-in-all I'm very happy with the Acton II and would recommend it without reservation for those who want a stylish and great-sounding speaker for an office, bedroom, library or any smaller contained room. If they need something for a larger or more open space, I would definitely say they should stick to the Marshall family of speakers (because they are all awesome looking and sound great), but go for something with a bit more power.

Perfect office speaker
3 January 2023

This was the perfect addition to my home office. I wanted something that would look upscale and compliment my decor, while providing excellent quality sound. In the looks department, the Acton II hits the nail on the head. Fit and finish is amazing, knurling on the knobs, soft gold accents, classic Marshall look. Sound-wise, I'd say that it's very good. The companion mobile app is key and I think that's what elevates the sound above other Bluetooth speakers. There are quite a few presets and I've found a few that sound excellent. Without the ability to change the EQ more minutely, I think it would just match competitors (again, in the sound department). What sealed the deal for me was the black Friday discount. At the normal price, I'd have likely given a 4-star ... MoreThis was the perfect addition to my home office. Sound pales in comparisom to new Homepod
4 June 2023

I scooped this on an open box deal when it went on sale so i am satisfied with the product. But, honestly at the full retail price i rhink the sound profile is just not at rhe same level as the 2023 HomePod. I have both, and while the Marshall wins in the looks department, the HomePod wins in sound and functionality. I use the Marshall as a PC speaker exclusivley, the bass is just not present when it needs to be, so I wouldn’t use for a daily driver speaker. I live in a stufio apartment for referrence so it doednt take a lot of bass to hit max acceptable levels here - the Marshall just doesn’t do it.

Stunning attention to detail! Solid bass!

When I received my Marshall Acton II Bluetooth Speaker, I just loved how it looks. The design is almost identical to Marshall's world renowned guitar amp/speaker sets. It really looks the part. The quality and attention to detail are fantastic. From the rough elephant hide style textured cover, to the heavy-duty switches and knobs, everything looks and feels 100% authentic. Such a great piece of kit to have almost anywhere, but looks fantastic in our somewhat steampunk inspired dining room. But you don't just look at speakers, you listen to them. And here, the Marshall Acton II also faithfully represents the type of sound you can expect from a Marshall amp/speaker set up, sounding unlike any other Bluetooth speaker I've owned in the past.Powering on the speaker is a delightfully tactile spring loaded toggle switch. With power comes a satisfying guitar riff, when you turn on the speaker, when you turn it off and when you are connected. Really nice touches that add to it's authenticity.Download the Marshall Bluetooth App to get started. The speaker pairs pretty much like any other speaker does on the market, but the App gives you more control over the speaker, including a nice equalizer which really enhances the sound, options to turn on and off the guitar licks (sounds) and the LED brightness of the dials on the speaker. You can also register the speaker, sign up for updates, amongst other things. Be forewarned, if you are using an iPhone, at this time, there is a software issue causing the '...' (dot menu) to show for the additional functionality. The button is still there, to the right of the speaker's name within the app, but you have to blindly tap on the right to get to it in order to access the equalizer, led brightness etc. I ended up having a quick chat with tech support in order to figure this out.Aside from that glitch in the app at this time (which is in the process of being rectified) the app works reasonably well. It's responsive, quick to adjust the settings on the speaker remotely. The sound, as mentioned, gives you a real feel of being at a concert, the way that the speaker delivers the sound is truly impressive. And this speaker needs to be cranked up, to deliver its best, at a lower volume, it sounds like a Bluetooth speaker, but between 8, 9 or 10, it sounds like a Marshall. The bass is incredible the louder it gets, whereas typical Bluetooth speakers, the bass drops off the louder they get, leaving tinny, high end sound and a hollow bass. NOT THE MARSHALL! The bass is deep and room filling the louder you get. And with physical 'BASS' and 'TREBLE' controls on the speaker, coupled with the 5 band equalizer built within the app, you have a wide gamut of frequencies to choose from to really dial in the sound to your personal liking. My father in law was blown away by the speaker, and I had to agree with him, apart from one thing... to me, it didn't sound loud enough. I felt that is should be able to be turned up to 11 (without a physical 11 on the dial!!). The sound is really superb from this speaker, but I did just expect it to be a little louder. I found myself listening to the speaker most of the time on 7 or 8, when I'd typically have a regular Bluetooth speaker at 5 or 6, meaning that it came across as a little quieter than other speakers.Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with the speaker, the build quality is above and beyond, you feel like you are buying a professional piece of equipment, the bass is incredible for it's size, especially as the volume increases. My only cons would be that I felt it should have been just a little louder, and that the app needs to be tweaked to really make this an all round package, but the latter is a simple software update.I'd highly recommend this speaker to a friend!
