Marshall Emberton II Bluetooth Speaker - Black Steel

More Cons Than Pros. I bought 2 of these and wish I never did. Here’s why:1) you cannot link the two speakers to get a stereo sound, and have them both playing from the same phone. There are way cheaper speakers that can do this, so I never thought 1 million years these would not be able to do so.2) Every time you turn the speaker on or off, it plays a 3 second guitar “riff” at full volume. So forget, trying to use this in your office, or in your house at night, you’ll wake up or annoy everyone. It’s absolutely absurd!3) The sound quality is good, but the volume is mediocre. My daughter has a little JBL sport that is a 1/4 the size, 1/3 of the price, and I can go just as loud,4) The large button on top to operate all functions is barely functional. You have to hit this thing in the exact spot, otherwise you’ll skip songs when you’re trying to turn up the volume, or you’ll stop the music when you try and turn off the volume and good luck, trying to power it off as you have to hold it perfectly straight down for three seconds, and usually takes about 3 or 4 tries.I bought these because they looked good and felt heavy/solid, and when I connected to the one in the store, it sounded good. However, once I got them home and actually started using them, I wish I would have returned them . Definitely consider a different brand at this price range.

We bought the Emberton II after consulting with Crutchfield support. We had narrowed our selection to a few models and based on our need, they were able to describe what to expect from each. Thank you Crutchfield. We selected the Marshall and could not be more pleased. Listening to our favorite playlists has never been more enjoyable. The quality of the sound and its room filling capacity is remarkable for its size. The EQ presets through the Marshall app are fun to toggle between. We used it on a weekend in the mountains and never had to charge it. I am not sure of the playtime, but 12 hours at about half volume seems very attainable on a new battery. This is the best looking portable speaker in my opinion. The looks sold me on it. The regular price is expensive for what you get because when comparing the sound of others speakers in-store I think the Bose sounded a little better. I bought it on sale for $149.99. I noticed that when this speaker is at max volume it compresses and distorts the audio slightly. If you need to something to fill a living room it would work but for larger spaces consider a different option. I used it in a basketball gym with around 5 people dribbling and it gets loud enough to hear it well. If you do plan on using it at max volume place it in a location not that close to people since the distortion sounds bad. Also, this speaker can be used while charging while other's cannot be and it doesn't have those cheap sounding bluetooth pairing voices. It plays a guitar noise when turning on and off and when pairing. It recognizes my phone immediately when I turn it on and if you get a call while connected it pauses the music and doesn't broadcast your phone call to the speaker. Great buy when it's on sale.
