Both speakers degrade at higher volume levels and should be only listened to at a max of around 75%. I like the Sonos triangle form and thought it was clever to aim the sound upwards because of directional sound (Emberton has 360ish sound. The sides are a bit muted and best listen to directly forward or back of their Marshall logo). Overall, I've enjoyed the Emberton more. I felt frustrated with the technology in Sonos (had problems with the on/off function vs standby, Wi-fi connection would stop the music randomly based upon signal strength) and the simplicity and easy controls of the Emberton. I had to wait for the Sonos to pair with my phone but with the Emberton, it was instant. They both have battery indicators but to check for the Sonos, I need to look on my phone for the Sonos App. With the Emberton, I don't need the added technology that the Sonos offers. Emberton is the old skool bluetooth that works for me.

I place this on the mantal above my fireplace and the sound is impressive from anywhere in the room. It's portable. I'll sometimes pick it up and take it with me to the garage or the shower. On the flipside, if value and thundering sound is what you want, this is not the right speaker. Gifted myself this speaker for my birthday and I'm so happy with it. It sounds decent for the size; I never turn the volume above 50%, and it's plenty loud and clear for me at that volume (using the speaker with an iPhone 12 Pro). The two 2"-drivers are positioned opposite each other to the right of the Marshall logo, while the passive radiators are to the left. The controls are very intuitive; Marshall have a winner with the multi-direction button; press to pause (long press to turn off/on), and press in any direction to control and volume and to go to previous/next track; I love speakers with track seeking controls because sometimes my phone is not at arm's length. The battery indicator is also a winning feature; it features 10 small bars, which I'm assuming are 10% per bar, a total of 100%. The lights never turn off while the speaker is in use, but they dim to conserve energy until you press the multi-direction or Bluetooth buttons. Excellent user interface. The absence of a microphone is a not a big deal because I never use my Bluetooth speakers for phone calls, but sometimes I like using Siri and it would've been nice to have a microphone. Of course, USB-C for charging is perfect. I wish the speaker came with a charging adapter in the box but a regular 5W iPhone adapter works just fine, as well as plugging in to a computer/laptop of course. Hopefully I haven't missed anything worth mentioning regarding the Marshall Emberton. It's a great small speaker that looks and sounds fantastic; can't beat the Marshall aesthetic.

I bought this Bluetooth speaker based on various reviews that I had read, both on JL and elsewhere. It did not disappoint. It is really easy to set up and the sound is absolutely amazing for its size. There is a speaker back and front. I love the retro Marshall look. It's really portable and I would seriously consider buying another. If I was going to be picky about anything it would be that the model with the white writing on the front is slightly at odds with the brass finished control knob on the top. But that's just me and it has no bearing on its performance. Highly recommended

I am a fitness teacher that moves from venue to venue and the sound is so clear, loud enough and comes from both sides so in bigger spaces I turn it to allow more to come out. Iâm prior service and worked on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier, volunteer at my local gun range, instructor, and ride motorcycles.âŠ.Iâm HARD OF HEARING so I like things at a volume I can hear, this thing delivers. If your just wanting something for a dorm room, apartment, or your bathroom so you can become the rock star youâve always wanted to be in the shower, the smaller version is for you. The App has very limited use in my opinion. The EQ settings are limited in the extreme. App is not required to connect to speaker. In fact it can slow the process down! Stacking also does not require the App. Direct phone to speaker connections are flawless, as is stacking so long as I avoid the App! For me the only reason for the App is to check for firmware updates. I got very confused with the App. I THINK the process is to connect to the speaker, then start the app and let it do its stuff. For me the only reason for the App is to check for firmware updates. I got very confused with the App. I THINK the process is to connect to the speaker, then start the app and let it do its stuff. I now have four Bluetooth entries on my phone: 2 x Emberton II 2 x Emberton II [LE] The Emberton II [LE] entries refer to the App (I think!)
I purchased this speaker on 4/11/22 and it already is having issues. My speaker - well cared for and gently used - will no longer accept a charge beyond half way. It just stops charging. It also will no longer charge unless the speaker itself is turned on which shouldnât be. Very disappointed. Especially for the name and price tag. It does have great sound quality, connectivity is good and so far I havenât had any issues. I dislike the guitar riffs it randomly tosses out. I liked it at first but it just became annoying. The center button to turn speaker on and off is also kinda wonky. You have to press and hold for about 3secs for it to work. Overall, for the money. My initial attraction to this awesome Bluetooth speaker is the fact that it departs from the typical soda can looking Bluetooth speakers that are out there and provides a cool, vintage-vibe looking speaker that supports Marshall's legacy as an excellent speaker and amplifier company as well as providing incredible audio out of a speaker at this price point. As is typical of Marshall consumer audio-products like their Bluetooth headphones, this speaker includes all the fun quirks of the brand. The multi-control knob is fluid for skipping songs, increasing the volume, and turning the device on and off with a separate button solely committed to Bluetooth connectivity (this utilizes Bluetooth 5.0). The rubberized, textured feel of this speaker feels high quality--absolutely a cut above the competition. This speaker feels like it could take a tumble from a height no problem and live to play another day--not that I was willing to toss this on the ground to test that assumption! A neutral observation to note with this speaker. It is Bluetooth connection only. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack, so be aware of that. Other speakers in the Marshall lineup certainly have 3.5mm headphone jacks. My opinion on this is that, for one, the higher waterproof rating (IPX7) is achieved with the exclusion of this jack as it is, by design, a higher-likely point of ingress for moisture than the strict USB-C this speaker utilizes for charging. None-the-less, if you are looking to use this speaker in conjunction with a 3.5mm audio input device like a vintage iPod (how crazy to have to say that!), an Echo Dot, etc. The sound. The sound the sound. Oh how I love the sound of this speaker. I have review a lot of Bluetooth speakers. So when I turned this on and put on my audio testing playlist, trust me when I say I was astonished by the sound! The two 2" 10 watt speakers produce incredible highs, great mids, and respectable bass notes out of a speaker of this size and build. Furthermore, their claim to a 360 degree sound I feel is accurate. I tested this speaker in different spaces throughout my house, and I found that the sound had an even reverberation and tonality through the space it was placed in. The speaker gets LOUD too. Definitely could be a respectable audio source for a houseboat party float, backyard bash, etc.! One last cool little feature I wanted to mention is the charge level indicator located on top of the device. This is my first speaker to have a clear and constant visual indicator of how much battery charge is remaining which is really neat! I cannot speak to the claim of a 20 hour runtime, only that that is based on the power demand of the device and that Marshall almost certainly tested that runtime at a fixed volume, probably in the midrange. Thus, higher will drain the speaker faster, lower slower, etc. Overall, I think the price for the value of the product you are getting with this little Emberton speaker is awesome. I highly recommend it if you are someone who is as concerned with the looks of an audio device as you are its features and sound!
