Martin LX1E Little Martin Acoustic Electric Guitar

I like these small guitars with a big sound. The Taylor GS Mini is also like this. The Martin has a great resonance. With the advent of Zip pay there's no excuse that a beginner should not get one. The things about "beginner" guitars that put people off are it's hard to get a good sound, barre chords are too hard and the neck is too wide. The Martin is motivation solidified. It's also nice to look at, at the beautiful wood.

being i have broken my wrist in four places i found it very difficult on a full size guitar to play. also i am used to playing mandolin and ukulele both small instruments. i find this little martin ideal for myself .this is a lovely well built guitar .its going out on gig with me next sunday along with a mandolinthanks BRYAN

Excellent tone and feelH

I wanted a smaller acoustic guitar, easier for my fingers. I tried this in the sound booth at Norwich, and was very pleasantly surprised at the tone - it is a very lightweight, small, guitar, and at first touch it felt a little insubstantial. But when I first picked a high E at the 12th on the first string I decided there was no question - it rang beautifully, and I decided the guitar was coming home with me! I now play it constantly. There is, I believe, a version with an onboard tuner, but that did not seem to be in stock - no problem, I love this one.

Fantastic

Believe me this guitar is not just a beginner’s guitar. I’ve been playing 25+ years & I’ve owned a fair few guitars over the years. I don’t gig anymore, I only play at home for fun. This guitar has a beautiful tone but isn’t overly load like that of a big sounding dreadnought guitar. All the superb qualities, tone & playability you’d expect of a Martin guitar without the volume. It’s absolutely perfect for playing at home. So much so that after owning it for around 5 months it’s now the only guitar I play. It took a couple of weeks to adapt to the slightly shorter fret size but you soon don’t even notice. The tone of this is far superior to that of the Taylor baby in my personal opinion. Highly recommend this exceptional guitar.Kris

I really liked this little guitar, BUT...I read the reviews and decided to buy in-store so I could play the guitar before buying, and I'm SO glad I did. I went into my local Guitar Center and played THREE of these Martin LX1E guitars, including one that had been specially unboxed so I could try it after two others failed my examination. All three guitars had a very pronounced buzz in the frets. It was not that noticeable when I played them acoustically, but the buzz was very noticeable when I plugged them in to an amp. I even tested the amp with other guitars, to make sure it wasn't the amp. It wasn't. Its a great little guitar, great tone and very playable, BUT my advice would be not to buy this one on-line. Play it first. Loving this guitar. Compared with my bulky dean acoustic, this is a pleasure to play. It feels so good in your hands, with the heavier neck and smaller body.Surprisingly it gives a loud enough great sound, if you play with gusto, even the lower strings boom out nicely.It even smells gorgeous. My hands are not big and I haven't played for many years, but now I want to play every day. The woodwork looks beautiful too. I haven't tried playing with an amp yet, but I bought the Yamaha THR5A with this so I am confident it will work well together. Review of Martin LX1E Little Martin Spruce 0 Electro Acoustic

I have three other Martin guitars but wanted one of these for "finger chewing gum" when watching rubbish television and other similar situations. I love this guitar. It's so easy to play, sounds really good acoustically and a real powerhouse through my Bose P.A. ( bought two years ago from Anderton's).

Small Guitar With A Big Sound

In the las couple of years, Ive discovered that I really like a smaller body guitar and a slightly shorter scale. This is much more comfortable for couch noodling and the compact size Id much easier to tote around. I decided that I wanted a really good small guitar and this is what I settled on. I have always thought Martin guitars were the best and this one does not disappoint. I debated on whether to spend the extra $100 for the electric option. Wow what a sound. With a little distortion and reverb, this guitar is a screamer. Im beyond impressed with this aspect. All in all, great guitar. No, it does not have the deep sound of my dreadnought Martin, but it does sound great and is exactly what I wanted. Very pleased.

tiny beauty

it arrived yesterday to romania, from music store germany (thanks for handling it with so much care!) and i laid my hands for the first time on this loveable tiny beauty. it looks amazing and feels amazing, in every aspect. excellent playability all thourghout the neck, right out of the box...i wanted a travel buddy — small, sturdy, light and playable... and here she is. there are a lot reviews on the net, i will let here my own subjective opinion, after one day of having it (shipped from music store, germany).- i'm a tall guy (6 feet 3 / 190 cm), but the smallness of martin lx1 is not a hindrance in playing. my wife is a mongolian petite, so perhaps I'm used with handling small beauties 🙂- i have big hands, but not thick fingers. if i stretch my fingers i can ... Moreit arrived yesterday to romania, from music store germany (thanks for handling it with so much care!) and i laid my hands for the first time on this loveable tiny beauty. it looks amazing and feels amazing, in every aspect. excellent playability all thourghout the neck, right out of the box...i wanted a travel buddy — small, sturdy, light and playable... and here she is. there are a lot reviews on the net, i will let here my own subjective opinion, after one day of having it (shipped from music store, germany).- i'm a tall guy (6 feet 3 / 190 cm), but the smallness of martin lx1 is not a hindrance in playing. my wife is a mongolian petite, so perhaps I'm used with handling small beauties 🙂- i have big hands, but not thick fingers. if i stretch my fingers i can cover this guitar's neck from the net to the 10th fret (from pinky to thumb stretched out) — so you can have a clue; however, i feel comfortable playing all over the neck, even past the 14th fret. so no problem with that... and the transition back and forth to my normal-sized acoustic fender pm1 or to my electric squier affinity tele feels smooth, adjusting in no time.- the guitar is neck heavy, but it doesn't bother me at all; you see, it sits comfortably in my lap.- well, of course, the sound is not of a normal-sized guitar — one has to live with that. it is somehow a boxy sound, but martin has a lot of character, so i'm quite pleased with the sound. the guitar seems to suit better for fingerpicking or strumming with bare fingers; when i use my pick it's too noisy, especially the d string is sooo loud, taking over the other strings. in know, it's a new guitar, freshly out of its box, so perhaps it needs time to shape its sound. if this will not happen (due to hpl back and sides) i will still be pleased, the sound is good enough and i can work my way around.- the machine heads are of excellent quality (like every aspect of this guitar, actually): i tuned the guitar yesterday, after taking it out of the box, then forgot about it...summing up:craftmanship — state of the artsound — boxy, you may like it or not (martin has character, a distinct voice, above all)optic — beautiful as it gets, simply perfectprice/performance — well, i would have loved to pay less... in the states, it was 399 USD until recently, now it's more expensive and perhaps the price will rise as well in the current covid situation; so buy know, don't postpone if you consider having one.
