That smell! Instantly transported me somewhere shy of 1980. But richer, this one, like port was added to it. I find it a little sweet then you get the fullness then the dry finish - interesting. I added a soda water to it, that was nice had it as an aperitif & that was more interesting. Palates have changed, so has Martini. One to play with: jellies, trifle, over berries and then theres drinks, great for mixing or on its own - refreshingly different whilst whispering of the past

I have tried a half dozen different sweet vermouths for negronis and just as an aperitif, and this one is my favorite. It's probably the most balanced I've tried. It's a real shame it seems like TW&M stopped carrying it. Second place for me is Carpano Antica Formula so that's what I'll be getting going forward.

I first had this in a Negroni in Napoli...was blown away. Martini called in their top guy to come up with the formula. Complex, 3 kinds of artemisia, Nebbiolo base, herby/spicy, perfect mixer with Campari or any other amaro. It's my go-to in Italy and the US, can't recommend this enough!! Was thrilled to see Total Wine carries it.

I've ordered this same bottle from Wine Chateau before & it was lovely -- pleasantly sweet, bright & flavorful. However, this most recent bottle was entirely different -- flat and entirely unremarkable. I think that the difference comes down to storage -- the latter bottle was mishandled somehow before it got to me and the wine suffered as a result.
Highflyingbird 02 October 2018 A tasty cocktail We tried this after sampling the Martini Ambrato. We made a cocktail using 1 part martini and 2 parts lemonade & served it with plenty with ice. It had an interesting bitter taste and tasted very similar to an Ambrato cocktaiI similarly made. I preferred it more diluted as it has quite a strong flavour. Will definitely purchase again.
Tried mixing with gin as per the suggestion on the bottle, but without the bitters. Tasted pretty much like a Negroni to me - perhaps it is bitter enough already. I also tried mixing with Ketel One orange vodka which gave it a very nice twist. Seems like a good quality vermouth.
Tried this both straight, with lemonade and also using the cocktail printed on the label with gin and bitter. The cocktail was really nice, much better than straight although that is not too bad either. With lemonade and some ice is a nice longer drink. Well worth a try if you've tried Martini in the past or even if you've not.
Given this to review , drinking it as I type this. Havent had martini since my teenage years in the 80,s . I put it with plenty of ice and the low alcohol gin and tonic and a slice of orange. Found it surprisingly refreshing with a light spicy flavour.will definitely buy again.
I like drinking vermouth on its own and this just tastes like mulled wine, horrible. Antica Formula Carpano is the best so don't know why I didn't stick with it. Nort worth trying something else.
Received free to review. At first mouthful (cold over ice) thought this tasted just like martini bianco (Ive only ever had white vermouths, over ice as a long summer drink - the long part being just a whole lotta straight vermouth!), but after first taste a bitterness reminiscent of Campari comes across (I think the last time I drank Campari was as a teenager!). More of a bitter taste rather than a dirty taste like the white martini. Husband not had vermouth before and is totally sold! Eyes lit up and I left him with the glass! Will have to try long with tonic as recommended on the bottle.
