Had this for about 7 months and not gonna lie. It’s tops. I got a decent front and decent back yard and yeah she’s the one.Only thing that tickles me pink is that the catcher is a touch small but that could just be me being lazy and letting the grass blossom like a wild fire.But deadset I suggest it. It’s built pretty stiff too, not like the cheap stuff on the market.Feels solid in the hands and on the tarmac!Engine good too, revs are mad, I legit haven’t had and issues with it. I mean time will tell but I froth it at the moment

I bought this mower as a backup for my mowing business but I find I’m using it all the time. It’s good for regularly mowed lawns, nice and light and easy to push. The little engine is surprisingly powerful and relatively quiet. It’s got the more durable throttle lever, not the crappy plastic one that snaps off. Only downside is the pressed on wheels. They will become wobbly over time and can’t be tightened. That said, it does get used a lot.

After struggling for years with an old, heavy (but reliable), hand-me-down Scott Bonnar mower, it finally kicked its final bucket and I decided it was time to invest in a new mower. Did a bit of research and got some advice from mates with mowing rounds and this was considered best bang for buck for my purposes. Really simple to put together (just don’t forget to add SAE 30 oil before you kick it in the guts the first time), first start only needed two yanks on the cord (only one yank needed after that initial startup), appears to be well built, was very comfortable to push (the foam handle covering is a godsend), and it smashed through an overgrown and wet lawn without skipping a beat. I bought this lawn mower from Bunnings Gungahlin today for $544. Wanted by Victa 18" classic on promotional price $369 but it wasn't available. Never used Masport before so wanted to give this one a try based on good reviews.I am more than happy I purchased this. Setting this up a was a breeze. Grass was bit wet due to rain last few days. Started the machine at the first go and cutting grass was easy and enjoyable. Love this product!
Just purchased today. After a combination of non stop rain and pure laziness, my lawn was knee-waist high. The old Ryobi 18v just wasn't cutting the mustard. Looked up mower recommendations in a Facebook group. All signs pointed here.Ran down to the local, picked it up with some oil. Easy and ready to go out of the box + fuel and oil. Jumped straight in.Plowed through entire lawn with 0 issues and just kept going. 4ft high weeds and all. Only stopped/cut out once because I hadn't emptied the catcher. Keep the catcher clear and it'll bring down a brick wall if you wanted it to.
The sheer numbers of Briggs and Stratton engines made would suggest reliability. There must be 10,s of millions of the same basic design in use. And a 5 year warranty is a good insurance. The only quibble I have is the odd decision to not only have any oil in the engine (totally understandable) but also not to supply an initial fill bottle?. So the majority of people I guess unpack their mower, assemble it, find there is no oil in engine and none supplied and have to then run out and get some monograde SAE30. Luckily I had some left over from old air cooled VW,s ( no, not so very different to a lawnmower) so didn`t have to.Charge another dollar or two and include some oil. Or put a unmissable big sticker on box, " YOU NEED OIL". Just silly not to.

Well under my budget of $800 so I used to the difference to go towards an AEG 18v Line Trimmer as well!It’s my first mower, love that it’s 4 stroke and for anyone interested it takes 440ml (1 bottle) of the Briggs & Stratton SAE30 oil that you NEED to put into the mower before use. It’s not overly heavy in the box, I was able to strap it down on my roof rack and drive it home 200km. Only thing to do once you unbox it is click the catcher together, add the oil, fuel and start it up. I have an average lawn of buffalo grass. My previous mower handled it okay but this mower really struggles. Simple fact is this model is a lightweight, underpowered unit which would only suit very small easy cut lawns.Apart from the lack of power (even on full throttle) it starts surging and missing after a few minutes of cutting. The basic single piece cutting blade tends to collect clippings on its tips and jam up thus causing more stress on the motor.After checking it over and giving it a few chances I think it's going back.

Great mower, powerful but lightweight and starts with a single pull. Having the collector bin or mulcher option is nice, and easy to swap. I would prefer 4 blades instead of 2 (hence 4 stars instead of 5), but nonetheless a great machine. I noticed some reviewers have complained about oil in the air filter, but this is normal, the mower requires the filter to have a small amount of engine oil soaked into the foam to help trap dust. You just need to wash it at each service interval, and re-apply a little oil to maintain.
