Almost a Great Smoker

I really enjoy this smoker & have had great results as a beginner. A few issues that I'm working through. Guide rail under charcoal basket detached 1st use but I replaced the pop rivet & it's good. The internal temperature monitor did not work and the connector is so loose that it's hard to make a good connection. Also after about 3 hours smoking it seems like the fan does run as strong as it should be. That will take more smokes to sort out if there is a fan issue. These are fixable & after 4 smoke sessions I'm still very happy with the purchase.

I unplugged the smoker and plugged it up again but nothing works. I can't seem to find any replacement parts on the web. Fortunately I am happy with the smoker as a smoker (meat comes out great). I am however disappointed in the cheap electoronics and failure out of the box. I would dearly love for the opportunity to use the fan to regulate the temperature but it won't come on since I can't use the controller. I will likely keep it but I will have to add my own fan with a potentiometer or rotary switch to regulate fan speed/volume and install a permanent external thermometer I can glance.

Great concept, cheaply built

I bought this a day ago. There are some things I like about it and there are some things i dislike about it.Pros:bluetooth connectivity seems to work fine, I'm able to easily control the smoker from the app.The fan speed does adjust based of your set temperature to maintain the temperature.Having the option to have multiple thermometers going, all connected to the smoker and viewable on the app is really nice.It just looks awesome and the latches and doors are just satisfying to work.Cons:Single wall so smoking in colder temperatures will be difficult. I tried seasoning it in 26 degree weather and it couldn't get to 400 using lump charcoal. The charcoal box warped just trying to season it. The bottom door doesn't sit even with the top.My final conclusion is this is s great smoker for someone who wants all the bluetooth connectivity and ease of use features, and is willing to spend a little more money to make it a reliable smoker. This is not for someone looking for a "plug and play" smoker

I don't expect longevity

Disclaimer- haven't put a flame in it yet. This is my initial impression based on unboxing and assembly. It is very nice looking and the packaging was secure. A lot impresses me about the design. I have another popular charcoal grill company kettle style smoker. I have always had trouble keeping temps consistent even though it has a water pan. I always thought this type of design would be the ticket, and here it is. As far as design, I am only concerned about the heat loss due to thin walls in the box, but the digital controls should prevent temperature fluctuations. As noted in a couple of videos online, the wiring underneath is performed later in the directions after turning upright. These steps can be performed while still upside down for convenience. As noted in a couple of videos online, the wiring underneath is performed later in the directions after turning upright. These steps can be performed while still upside down for convenience. Other than that, assembly was straight forward.I will try to remember to update this post when I use it in the next week or so, but I am pretty confident in the operation. Onto the bad first impressions-The smoker probably could’ve been filled with cartons of eggs and none would’ve broken in transit. The box looked fine when received and all parts were secure in the packaging. However there was still damage to the unit, functionally everything works and looks like it will do the job, but I am concerned about for how long. First, there were a couple of areas of minor surface marks (I am sure it will look worse once I am done with it, so that doesn’t bother me too much). Next, I flipped the unit over to attach the parts to the underside and noted on one corner of the smoker was partially dented in (pushed from bottom up, not noticeable from the sides). It was very minimal and didn't affect the screw placement, so I moved on with attaching the legs, but it shouldn’t have arrived that way. After flipping back upright, I noted that one of the 2 guide rails for the charcoal / ash tray inside the smoker had been damaged. The rear side was completely free (tack welds were broken) and the front, though secure, was mangled. Again, functionally I am not concerned since it really only holds up the tray, but it will likely become completely broken sometime in the future. One of the final steps of putting the doors back on I noted that the fire box door does not line up with the smoker door. Further inspection identified a very poor weld on one of the hinges attached to the smoker. This is holding the fire box door out slightly. This is the only current cause for concern- it looks like there is some small openings where heat/smoke can exit the firebox in the corner where the door hinge is poorly constructed. If this poses an issue I can get some additional high temperature gasket material to help, but I believe with continued use the hinge will likely fail after some time.

This smoker was purchased for my as an early Christmas Gift in November of 2021. I have used it approximately 12 times. I enjoy the quality of smoked meat that I get. What i dont enjoy is the problems I have encountered. The Charcoal basket warped pretty early on and has continued to warp to the point where it does not really fit that well into the fire box anymore. One of the runners for the ash container has fallen off. I am not running super high temps as most of what I have smoked is smoked around 225 degrees to 250 degrees. The paint inside the smoker is also flaking and bubbling and falling off. The smoker is not left outside and is cleaned and covered after each smoke. Very unhappy with the product. I have received no assistance. Two stars only because I still enjoy smoking.

Started good followed by Poor Quality and Service

The item was given to me on December 25th 2021 for Christmas. I did enjoy the smoker throughout the year with minor issues that I easily overlooked. On December 27th 2022, the internal thermostat (Which plugs into the panel and is mounted with 1 screw) failed. Other smoker series have this thermostat for $8, however, they do not sell mine individually (Per Masterbuilt Service) and I would need the entire box unit ($150). Also, since this was just past the 1 year warranty (By Days), I am responsible for the $150 charge for a new Box (thermostat). It wouldn't be nearly as bad if they sold just the thermostat for $8 that is mounted with 1 screw. If I am investing that much more money in a used smoker, then I will purchase a different brand. Temperature controllered failed around 2 years
31 December 2022

Got this as a Christmas gift in 2020. When it works it was great, but started to see error 4 even though the charcoal is glowing after about 18 months, 6 months past warranty for customers in the USA. Was able to limp along for a little bit, normally power cycling got it working again. But now setting the temperature doesn't seem to do anything. Latest cook, set it to 225 and the alert that the set temp was reached actually happened at 300. Display on the smoker showed 300 so idk what the problem was. Shame on me for not keeping a close enough eye on it. A new controller is $60, I'll try that and hopefully get another year out of this thing.

I would give this zero stars if possible. I do not like giving bad reviews but in this case I have to try to save people their money... This smoke will not control temperature at all. All probes come up with different temperatures and the control unit is junk. it does not work with the app at all. I found that it will "control temperature" to a set value if not using the app, but the probe is not accurate so when it says 225, it really means about 257. I verified this with 4 other temperature probes simultaneously. I emailed constomer service which gave me a list of potential problems. When I responded that they do not fix my issue, i never heard back from them. I emailed them every week for a month or two and never got a response.
