Needed some emergency lump charcoal after an overnight brisket cook. Picked this up because the other shops werent open yet.The product is offcuts of timber, burns extremely fast with low heat output. A full hopper in my Masterbuilt 880 should burn for up to 10 hours! I was lucky to get 5 hours and struggled to raise the temp over 420 degree farenheit when wanting to BBQ.Do not recommend and will not buy again. If anything, ill mix it into a quality gidgee lump charcoal to hide its inferiority.

Too many negative reviews on such a great product. Heat output is medium with constant output, burn time at grilling temps at 380 degrees plus 3 hrs with 1.5 kg of fuel. It does spark but not like heat beads lump. It does come with larger and smaller cuts. But easily cut into size and shape u need. It's unique when compared to flaming coals lumpwood, heat beads lump, firebrand. Found it a stedy clean heat and taste well too

Used it for the first time today. It was hard to light and would not go over 150 degrees. Basket was full of fresh charcoal. Produced lots of ash. It’s terrible. Looks like sliced pine or something. Horrible charcoal. I don’t understand how it can be so bad.

There is plenty of glue or other substance on the surface of the charcoal, which causes serious sparks, really dangerous. You can also tell from its shapes that most of these are from building materials. Like another reviewer, I have no confidence these aren't treated wood, which can be toxic. I am throwing my whole box out as it's just not worth the risk
Bought a box of your Matador 10kg Premium Lumpwood. Can’t complain of the heat but it’s definitely not none sparkling. It went crazier than fireworks. Looks more like off cuts from a building site. Do not buy this guys.
If you want PREMIUM or QUALITY lumpwood charcoal for cooking with then don't buy this product. Looks like leftover pieces of building wood. Burns poorly for cooking. Ok for heat though, ie, chiminea.
This charcoal is wierd. Dashed in and this as I was running out during a cook.Obviously it's commercial offcuts that have been made into charcoal. Lights fast. Burns fast. Not great heat. Good for a quick grill I guess...but I'm concerned about the flavour as it gives off a bit of smelly smoke. Its cheap. I'll give it that.
Highly recommend getting something else. Very light wood and doesn't burn very long. Ash builds up quickly and goes out.Doesn't get hot enough and you find yourself dumping twice as much in as you would normally use to keep the heat going and consistency.Yes I know what I'm doing, I ran a charcoal chicken shop for a few years and thought I was going nuts not being able to maintain proper heat.
Wish I read the reviews before wasting my money. Takes ages to light and pieces go out randomly if not sitting directly on top of other hot coals and barely holds any heat. Random pieces of pallet wood or something. I’m going back to the chargriller lump wood and going to try give this garbage away.
terrible. It looks like dried out bits of construction waste, it cooks unevenly and is annoying to work with. I put up with this 10kg bag then purchased a bag of gidgee wood charcoal and could not believe the difference. I won't ever use this left over building scrap again.
