I am so happy to finally be able to purchast Matisse structure acrylic paint! Jerry's had a nice sale going on and i was able to get larger tubes then i had expected. This is my
first expeience with matisse. I LOVE the vibrant colors! I will purchase this brand again for sure!! I would like to mention tho that 2 of my new tubes must have been older or
something because they are a bit gummy and not as they should be. This was disappointing as they are expensive. I'm still using them but the quality of these 2 tubes (150 ml
of burnt umber and 150 ml of yellow oxide) was poor.I would like to add that Jerry's did a great job with fast shipping of my products!! Just a few days and it was ... Show more

These are professional high quality paints that come in a wide range of colors, including some exclusive to the brand. I specially love their Australian Salmon Gum, Aussie
Sienna, Aussie Ghost Gum, Aussie Red Violet, and Southern Ocean Blue. Their consistency, lightfastness, and pigment load is similar to heavy body acrylics by Golden and
Liquitex, plus they mix nicely with both brands. Only thing to note, if you receive a tube where the paint comes out like chunky peanut butter, you have received a bad one
and will need to return it. That only happened to me once - and I have 50+ tubes of their paint, so not bad at all. Like other high quality brands, they aren't chea... Show more

Matisse Acrylic Paint Series 1 Carbon. Black.
7 July 2022
I had a lovely time today reviewing the wonderful Matisse Acrylic Carbon Black Structure paint. I hadn’t been asked to do a review before this so l enjoyed throwing my representational hat to the wind and having lots of fun moving paint around.I used Carbon Black straight from the tube, melding it with other colours to create lush textured rivers over the paper as well as some traditional crisp line work. Matisse Structure Acrylic 75ml S4 - Metallic Light Gold
2 February 2024
This is a great paint, perfect consistency, the exact shade of gold I was looking for. I use it (by finger - digital application...)) over Atelier Indigo (which has a greenish effect) on my critters. (The Atelier Indigo seems to be the only Indigo with this greenish effect) . I personally prefer the Matisse Structure to the Flow.... Show more

One of the Best!
7 March 2018
I bought a sampler set of these from a major competitor's store and was terribly disappointed as they were dry and basically useless. Contacting that company about it was very disturbing. The response was less than optimal. I was treated with contempt and disdain by one of their executives. I have not shopped with them since. It was the second significant mistake in a month and I had placed thousands of dollars a year in art supplies........with them. But when I contacted Matisse directly I was amazed and impressed by their response. A senior executive, Steve, contacted me. He explained what he thought the problem was.: took responsibility and didn't sidestep anything. They sent me a a full size sampler set, by airmail, from Australia. He explained what he thought the problem was.: took responsibility and didn't sidestep anything. They sent me a a full size sampler set, by airmail, from Australia. It arrived very quickly and I fell in love with their paint. It is highly pigmented, creamy and yet maintains the consistency of a heavy body acrylic. It is a delight to work with and in the long run a bargain. It goes farther with much better coverage than I had seen before. Check out Joe DiGulio's YouTube demos.. Contact Blick with the problem and I am sure they will follow through and exchange what you have. Believe me, it is worth it and you will see that. I have also found that sticking with Dick Blick is a much better option all the way around.... Show more

Popping colors!
18 April 2020
I was looking for a color that was out of stock in my traditional brand (Golden). I tried the color in this brand (along with a few more), and am positively wowed! I did not know that acrylics could pop like this. I am going to replace all of my colors (and add new ones along the way) with Matisse. I'm so happily surprised at the depth and opacity of this paint. The lids are tricky--I am glad I had a box cutter next to my paint table. Some are difficult to open (the plastic part) but some are easier. Just pop the foil with the cutter, and twist the plastic lid on. I read that there is a scent to the paint, but I do not notice anything.... Show more

The perfect Orange
25 July 2024
I am a big fan of the richness and buttery feel I get from Matisse. This might sound silly but I love their tops. They flick right back into a closed position. Much easier to keep clean than regular screw on lids. And I like that they are actually sealed upon arrival. This particular color is one of my favorite "oranges" to have in my studio. It is very rich and has a lot of depth.... Show more

This was a one time experiment for me.
10 January 2022
I follow many Australian artists who use Matisse as their "go to" paint. They have some unusual colors I wanted to explore. I found the structure paints a bit gummy, but they covered well and were opaque when tube stated opaque. I'm a Golden fan, particularly of the OPEN series, and this adventure has not made me want to switch anything. It fascinates me how much brand difference there is in my favorite color, Payne's Gray. I wanted to try something new in 2022, and these paints fit the bill-- but won't replace anything for me.... Show more
