Disappointing. I had high expectations because I'd heard about Maui Jim sunglasses, and seen some as well. The packaging was very nice, and then?......disappointed.....the overall quality looks/feels like a $20 pair that you can buy @ Wal Mart (as you know you can buy UV/polarized from many suppliers for $15-$20)....I showed them to other people and asked for honest feedback, and they said they same thing...."only difference between these and cheap ones from Wal-Mart is that it's branded "Maui Jim". I have a pair of Ray Bands (List price $100), and they just feel/look higher quality. Sorry for the bad review. I wanted to love these, but they're cheap looking/feeling.

Were great for a year until the arm broke. Got a replacement pair for 50% off just outside warranty from sunglass hut, one year later that arm broke too in same spot. Appears to be manufacturing/design issue as no other sunglasses I have have broke like this. Replacement arm is too expensive so these are just wasted now. The black and grey tortoise frames are nice super light wish I could have found the traditional brown tortoise but apparently they aren't available now.The MauiBrilliant blue, is first class all the way, even tough I purchased strictly for cycling these glasses can be used for any condition or event. Great glasses, happy I found them. Are they worth the price hard to say, all I know they have definitely impressed me.

My dissatisfaction led me to write this review after 1 year of owning them. The glasses almost immediately started developing scratches from light use. I keep sunglasses for a long time as I view them as an investment. I still have my Versace from over 20 years ago. They are hard to clean for some reason. Seems no matter what i try cleaning them with, it leaves streaks I just have to deal with. I can not help but wonder if I got a faulty pair. I don't even want to pay the $75 replacement fee because I know its just going to happen again. What I DO like about them is they are lightweight and fit my face. The polarization is ok, but when trying on Oakleys and Costa, I find these other brands to be clearer.
Really like the design but material quality is a big issue. Took good care of it all the time, but the arm broke at the hinge in less than one year with normal usage :( I have owned multiple Maui Jims in the past, but if feels like the build and material quality has been slipping in the recent years. I am extremely disappointed it is a premium priced item. I definitely do not expect it to fail in this way. Now I am not sure if I will ever purchase another pair of MJ. Too bad!
Bought these as my first pairs of MJ in canada. Yes it feels a bit flimsy but it makes up for that in weight savings. The lens is super clear and comfortable compared to any other "luxury" brand sunglasses. The lens do scratch easily but I'm super careful with them so not too much of an issue personally. I did drop it on the asphalt once and had my backpack land on it so had to pay for a replacement lens but thats my fault.HOWEVER the worse part about this pair is the matte coating on the frames. After a couple of years the coating started to peel and flake off on the frame. The arms were so back the lettering all came off. The Red sands are a great all-around pair of shades that boast great coverage, quality, and performance. They one of our top choices for everyday shades. Their lenses provide top-notch protection, superb clarity, and excellent contrast while remaining fairly true-to-color. The large overall size of the Kahis may be challenging for those with smaller faces, but they provide great coverage in a quality frame. Though they are some of the heaviest sunglasses own the extra weight pays off in performance. They also come with a super hardy case, which is great because you'll be bringing them with you everywhere! For a solid pair of glasses that are up for any casual adventure, you can't go wrong with the Red sands.
These sunglasses are insanely good. Lightweight, easy to wear and the lenses are the best that I have ever used in 40 years of wearing sunglasses. I agree that they scratch very easily as my lenses are now destroyed in a short space of time. Contrary to this last comment however is that my other pair of Maui Jim’s- with the glass lenses are the most scratch resistant lenses I have ever had. I’ve had that pair for 14 years and still in mint condition. Would be nice to have lenses that are light weight as the red sands lenses but as scratch resistant as the glass lenses. Then you would have a perfect pair of sunnies. - over to you Maui Jim😁
I originally purchased these with the blue lens. They have a warmer view than what I'm use to. I did like them but wanted a little darker tint so I returned the blue and went with the neutral. I love the fact these are light weight. I compared these with an alternate brand and loved the look but they were heavy. I went with Maui Jim and haven’t looked back. I was concerned about scratching of the lens. Today while washing my car, the corner of my hood actually knocked my right lens out of my Red Sands frame and hit the asphalt parking lot. I was sure the lens would be ruined. I picked the lens up and to my surprise, no scratches at all. Impressive. I was able to pop the lens back in.
