Bad Quality
I own a pair of 421 Sugar Beach sun glasses. I take well care of my glasses and make sure they not eat scratched. It took about 6 months for the inner lenses to start coming apart. I can only describe it as a peeling off from the lens. Due to that, both lenses look like they were all scratched up. To me it looks like it’s faulty material. It’s happening to the entire lens. I’m mystified on what this could be. But ultimately disappointed for the price my wife paid, as a birthday gift to fall apart like this.... Show more

Best good looking Suncreen for your eyes!
My husband and I have been wearing these since they first came out. This last purchase puts us up to over 12 pair. He manages to break or lose them and is simply hard on them, but we won't change to another brand. They are so light, you don't notice you are wearing them and the level of protection is amazing. We have a long drive we make headed into early morning sunrise where other sunglasses just cannot stop the blinding glare. These do making our drive safe. For most people, you will likely never replace them. Just be careful not to scratch the more delicate polycarbonate lenses. If it matters to you, these will not fall off your head (when you wear them like a headband), nor will they slip off of a ball cap. The coverage is really good given these are not ... Best sunglasses ever!
I just ordered my second pair of MJs, after losing the first one, bought 3 years ago. I was in the airport in Washington, waiting for my next flight, killing some time in a sunglasses shop, totally not expecting to find the best sunglasses I ever had. The girl in the shop recommended a pair of Maui Jim Sugar Beach, brown lenses. It was love at first sight. I have a small face, but they fit well, are super light weight and the precision and colors are amazing!... Show more

Excellent Sunglasses
Just got my Sugar Beach sunglasses and tried them out right away. I recently had a stroke in my left eye, which made it very sensitive to light. Since vision was impaired in my left eye, my right eye was taking over. This put a strain on that eye, chiefly from glare and bright light. I remembered that I'd had a pair of MJs some years ago, and was thrilled with how they protected my eyes in the really bright sunlight of Las Vegas in summer. These new sunglasses are great for outdoors, and even sitting indoors but looking out windows with bright sunshine. I can even use them for watching TV with no distortion and they give me very high definition while filtering out some of the brighter light and glare. I do wish they work as well on my computer, but I suppose it's ... MoreJust got my Sugar Beach sunglasses and tried them out right away. I'll be recomending these to friends and family.... Show more

Functional and stylish
I bought these glasses for a trip to Italy where I was mainly sightseeing but also doing some some cycling. I was traveling light so only wanted to take one pair of sunglasses and these were perfect, functional and stylish. They were extremely comfortable and the lenses were not too dark even when we were caught in a rainstorm while on the bikes. The flat folding case was an extra bonus. I should note that many sunglasses are too big for my face but these were a perfect fit.... Show more

Great glasses, but two pairs were defective!!
I love everything about these sunglasses in gloss black/neutral grey, however the two pairs I bought have the same defect: The lenses are somewhat loose where they connect to the nose bridge, whereas the lenses were firmly connected where they connect to the temple piece. With such a minimal frame, these connections are paramount. I bought one pair at the local REI store, and one pair from REI.com. Both pairs had the same defect. The display model at the REI store did not have the defect, and I would have kept the display pair as a quick solution, except they had a faint scratch from wear and tear as a display model. I contacted Maui Jim, and they were willing to do a warranty repair/exchange for me, but I don't really want to have to do a warranty claim and deal ... I contacted Maui Jim, and they were willing to do a warranty repair/exchange for me, but I don't really want to have to do a warranty claim and deal with the time and expense of shipping both items, when they are both literally brand new. There's clearly a defect in the ones I bought, and when I took them to a local MJ authorized optical shop for inspection (as the MJ phone rep suggested), the optical specialist said "Yes these are defective, the lenses shouldn't be loose in the nose bridge, send them back". I'm hoping my review will motivate Maui Jim to address this quality control issue, and hopefully get good stock back on the shelves at REI. I do look forward to purchasing these sunglasses when I can get a pair that aren't defective. When I called the REI.com phone rep just now, she said to ask a question in my review here, and it will make sure this issue gets addressed by REI staff. So, here's my question:Is there any way someone in the REI warehouse can inspect the remaining inventory of these sunglasses, send the defective ones back to MJ, and ensure the remaining REI stock is good, so I can order a pair that isn't defective?... Lightweight and great coverage
These are great sunglasses! I got them as a potential option instead of the typical aviators because I wanted something lightweight. I ended up going with a Maui Jim Maverick aviators, but my husband looks so good in these and loved them so much that we kept these for him! He said he loves the light-weight feel and great sun coverage. If you're looking for typical Maui Jim quality-super lightweight and comfortable sunglasses, these are great option!... Show more

Maui Jim's are the best!
Love Maui Jim sunglasses. I have tried RayBan and Costa glasses - nothing compares to these rimless Maui Jim's for playing tennis. This is my fourth pair!! Would love for them to make more rimless styles for small faces! These are a little large but a nice change from my rectangular rims!!... Show more

MJ Lifer
I own 5 pairs of MJ sunglasses. I love them all. My first pair of aviators in years. MJ has a two year warranty & they have an excellent repair shop, once outside warranty. I’ve used it many times, fast turn around and reasonably priced. Long Term loyal customer. Highly recommend A+++++... Show more

Pro and cons
Sugar Beach are my favorite sunglasses of all time. They are very lightweight which reduces any undue pressure on my nose and ears. The smokey lens looks great as well when compared to other sunglasses I own. So I would say this series is both practical while looking stylish. The only downside is they are easy to snap in two pieces. So you need to be aware of where you place them when not in use. I was careless in all my instances when they broke. So no fault of the product. This is my 3rd pair in 5 years and when considering a replacement, I did not waste too much time shopping other brands and series of sunglasses.... Show more
